It makes sense. Christmas is always a nostalgia thing, and now that the kids who experienced Christmas in the 90s are adults and decorating their own homes it makes sense they want it to be as reminiscent of their youth as possible.
I was born in 1994 back, then christmas was more magical and amazing than it was now. My family and I would meet up with my relatives at my grandma's house, and we would eat Menudo and Thamales and we open the presents at midnight then Christmas day we go to my grandma (from my dad's side) and we open more presents and just watch movies and hang out.
Christmas is always more magical when you're a child and all of your loved ones are still living. I feel this way about Christmas in the 80s. My parents, and all of my grandparents, have passed away. 😢❤
@jenniferhansen3622 My grandparents passed away, and after that, all my family members and relatives drifted apart. Last year, for Christmas, I didn't do anything. I just hung out with my step dad and mom. They don't celebrate holidays anymore, so my step dad smoked a chicken in a smoker, and we had that for lunch and dinner.
@@isaacgonzalez4139 I still do Christmas the way my mom did. Lots of homemade appetizers and cookies and treats. Homemade soup and hot sandwiches for Christmas Eve. A big dinner Christmas day. I am married and have grown kids so I enjoy Christmas with my little family, but I miss my parents and grandparents!! My siblings live far away. Still, I make it special for my little family. We play games, and watch movies too. 🥰
My mom had a huge collection of Dept 56 Christmas houses and extras that I inherited when she died. There were so many pieces that I never had enough room to set them all out. About 18 years later, I held an "Anti Garage Sale" in which everything was free. I invited family members and two of my nieces took the collection. It made me happy that the collection would continue to bring joy to my family. P. S. Almost all of my ornaments are glass, which I consider the prettiest of ornaments.
Distinctly remember Mom saying the tinsel was what she had in the '70s and we had bubble lights because that reminded her of childhood in the late '50s.
I did this Christmas 2023 and this Christmas as well for one of our trees. Colorful lights, all our ornaments collected over the years, silver tinsel wrap? And an angel on top. I love it!! I also used a lot of red and green decor throughout, making sure to bring color into things. I love it! My larger tree has white lights and various ornaments. I just remember as child being mesmerized by the colorful lights. I love it!
That girl said the colors gave her a headache. Like, how old are you? I’m 36 & I still love colorful Christmas lights. Lol. That just lets us know that this generation is so used to boring looking holiday destinations. Growing up, the more colors…the more merry😂😂. The white lights are nice but the colors are what makes it feel like Christmas.
Bubble lights are clearly a 50s/60s thing. While millennials are seeking a 90s Xmas today, boomers were seeking a 60s Xmas back in the 90s. If you’re associating bubble lights with the 90s, then you must have had parents who were into their own childhood nostalgia before it was cool, sharing it with you. A lot of 60s fads returned in the 90s.
That’s what I was thinking. These people must’ve had cold sterile trees previously. Having multicolored incandescent bulbs instead of warm white LED, is pretty much the only difference I can see.

Maintaining traditions isn’t tacky, it’s nostalgic. Let’s stay positive ❤
I think Nov 1st is a good time to start decorating so that you can enjoy the hard work you’ve put in for more than 4 weeks

No some are ignoring when “they” say we should celebrate Christmas. Many are celebrating the real Christmas season 12/25-1-6.
Merry Christmas Eve. 🎁 🎅 🎄
well with new items becoming cheaper and cheaper even the cheap stuff from the 90's looks quality now.
Yup !, retro the best ❤❤❤
Yep I love putting up all of my mismatched ornaments, especially the ones my kids made
Ours never left lol!

Tinsel wasn't 90s.... we had it 70s....
The girl talking about it even said it's a 50s and 60s thing, she just likes the vintage aspect of it
More like the 50s ☺️
@Nikki-ks6wi it actually goes back to 1610 according to the internet
So cool!
Its not the 90s without Bubble lights

Those large glasses are back from what I see lol
So normal tree decorating then...?? 😂😂😂 As opposed to what? That professional matchy-matchy stuff rich people pay others to do?
This is just normal decorating...

No more white lights so boring
Okay.😀🙂
