Most people by now know the joke about the System32 "virus", a joke where you're told to delete that folder to fix your computer. But in reality, it contains many critical Windows files, and deleting it will render your computer useless. But what exactly happens if you DO delete it? Does the computer crash immediately? What does it say when you reboot? Are you able to repair it? All these questions are answered in this video!

For those curious about the history of this:
It used to be a mean spirited prank from old school internet forums. You used to not need permissions beyond basic user interface. You used to he able to straight up delete sys32 without safeguards.
Baisically, the only computer/tech advice you would get for any questions you had was "you should delete sys32" for the lulz.
It is cool to see all these safeguards put up on the modern era...

I once was creating partition for my hard disk and I somehow managed to delete most of the installation information and other important files. Then I installed another version of Windows 10 and used my laptop's support site to download required drivers. Now it works fine
If you accidentally delete system 32 be sure to slap some flex seal on your heatsink to fix your computer

A serious question, as a dual boot user (Windows 10 + Kubuntu Linux), would it be possible if you had a backup of your system32 folder and Windows 10 got screwed, to access Windows 10 from your Linux installation and completely replace your System32 from Linux, by overwriting it? Our would something cause that to fail when you rebooted back into Windows?

I never knew how important system 32 was until now
How did you fix what you did in there? I somehow deleted it by mistake and got the same error after restarting the computer. Reinstalling windows did not work, the issue persists.

Something about Windows being able to repair itself when something goes wrong really gives me a futuristic vibe. In pop culture you always see huge advanced computers detecting errors and attempting to resolve those errors themselves, like DOOM 2016 with the computer self diagnosing at the beginning of the game.
I've never actually seen windows successfully repair itself. It's always tries, then fails.

Probably not, as some files get modified according to a ton of stuff like your windows settings.
But data in program files folder and users folder can still be saved!
