Please try 22-250 40 grain. If you want me to send ammo just pm me so I can send the ammo. My dad said 220 swift also 40 grain. If you can get your hands on either rifle I will send ammo! Thanks so much for the cool videos I live in east tennesse so shooting is a big part of my life.
.577 T-Rex the rifle and ammo might be hard to come across and it would probably be quite a bit of recoil but might be interesting to see or if you can get your hands on a tank 😀
I know ive said this be4, but .224 in a sabot in yer 300 winmag should reach 5000fps, there is a guy that did it be4 somewhere on youtube, i think he even topped 5100fps :P
204 22 250 25-06 260 300 rum
How about a .50 BMG SLAP ROUND?
Those 224 Valkyrie rounds look badass.
Or a "How many rounds does it take to punch through 3/4" AR steel? .300WSM vs. .300WinMag
The...338 Win. Mag. wants some of that too...
Soft points and ballistic tips aren't known for penetration.
Should all be at least fmj's
Yessur!
Ought to have a .243 vs 6.5 creedmore showdown.
This channel deserves way more subs.
Thanks Adam!
Do a battle of 30 cals! .300Blackout, .303British 30/30, .308, 30-06, 7.62x54R, .300WSM, .300WinMag
Did that already 2 weeks ago :)
I read the title wrong. So I'm rooting for the .224
"Aaah...put some more. Aaah America!" couldn't have said it better
You need to shoot it with a .50bmg slap round. That would make it through!!
It might kill him
I ain't trusting those things anymore
You should try a 22-250
Agreed. That and the 223 WSM.
I think maybe the the projectile is to small on a 22-250 but it might work
@@greenthumb774 Not too small. Same as .223, just much faster. Small diameter, fast bullets are great on steel.
Yeah okay I wasn't sure that's just what I thought ,but I am far from an expert lol
You can punch the 22-250 out over 4000fps from a 40 grain but no projectile will hold together through that much steel.
It would be interesting to load some AP projectiles from the 223 into the 22-250, but thats a job for one of the US boys as they are not available here in Australia or i definitely would try it.👍🇺🇸🇦🇺👍
Who tee who you should do a video with Edwin Sarkisian when this is over
Edwin is a good dude
Great video, the 243 did more damage in your previous videos.
You forgot the 7mm08 which is why my 3/8th inch AR500 target is broken now LOL
I should buy some more of them as they are fun to shoot at for sure and maybe I should get the 1/2 or 3/4 inch next time
That's pretty thin. How close did you shoot it
WHO_TEE - you should get a .17 Remington chambered rifle! Nosler makes a 20 grain loading at 4200 fps. 25 grain bullets are rated at 4040. There are some faster rounds, like the .204 and light 22-250, but for the size of the bullets, it is amazing what they do. Shoot a can of corn and it just vaporizes. I once worked up 15 grain (yes, that's not even 3 times the weight of a BB!) to 4450 over my chronograph. I have no idea how they held together. That same load went through 2 inches of plexiglass (bulletproof glass from a bank being torn down). Shot same glass with 230gr .45 acp and it barely dimpled it. Very cool stuff.
22-250 is a fast round. Probably faster then those you tested there! Great video and greatings from Sweden!
If 50 AP rounds don't go through none of these will still watching to see.
Mike Wethington Need more speed , like a 243 wssm.
Slap 338 or 50
😄😅
@Jones Problem with solids is they usually have lower density than lead, decreasing their energy density per volume too.
Usually you want high specific weight material flying as fast as possible, ideally it is pointy and hard as well.
So far I didn't find that solids leave even as much of a crater as similar velocity fmj. Just a prettier color mark on the target :)
They might have merit tho with thin barriers tho, if they don't fall apart as easily
@Jones interesting. was that a who_tee_who video as well?
AR500 steel is designed for these applications..forged, hardened, abrasion & impact resistant.. military & government have used it for a long time.. ½" AR500 steel is advertised & sold to withstand rifle rounds; repeatedly!. The alloy is designed to be bullet proof & not fail from fatigue.. ¾" AR500 will laugh at anything you throw at it.. only one or two rifle ammo types can punch through it, several of us have mentioned it.. good video who-tee 💥💥👍!
I've always admired your AR15 & as luck would have it I hit the like button #223.
Everyone keeps talking about the velocity, but the thing is; If you using a lead core bullet, you're always going to have that problem. AP rounds work so much better not just because their fast, because their hardened steel core is literally hundreds of times harder than lead(and harder than AR500, typically) Lead core ammo just won't work on AR500, no matter what fast wildcat caliber you think of.
I’m surprised to see that the 223 actually did the most damage
You’d be surprised with .22-250. Dented my 3/8 inch AR500 target. Bulges on the back!
You may need to brace the plate so it won’t move. Part of the bullet energy/speed is lost when the plate moves back(all though not much).
Might not be too safe at 12 yards but I agree with the principal
Would be interesting to see what some of the barrel burners do to that target! 300RUM, 300 PRC, 6.5 PRC, 30-378 WTBY, etc.
22-250 is a good small but fast round.
Back in day anyway it would go through bullet proof plexy when 223 wouldn't.
Great vid, I like looking through the comments and seeing familiar loyal fans!
you need tungsten, and you need more velocity. 3000+ fps. a .50 SLAP round is your best bet.
Also the best bet at blowing up the gun
375 H&H Mag or .404 Jeffrey just break the target damnit Bobby
WTW: A little while ago I looked into the AR500 phenomena for the first time and it seems to have most of the properties that are associated with what is called RHA (or Rolled Homogeneous Armor) in the military parlance.
Both the AR500 and AR550 in 1/2" thickness are fairly tough targets, but can be defeated by the fastest rounds requiring velocities in the neighborhood of 4,000 fps and above or muzzle energies of at least 5,000 fp in conjunction with sectional densities above
.330 with strongly constructed projectiles!
The 3/4" AR-500, for some reason (probably something called 'areal density'...) seems to be a much tougher target to defeat than the 1/2" plates would indicate. In light of this it is a bit surprising that one of the other channels (Going Ballistic) was able to defeat 1" thick AR500 with a .50 caliber SLAP round out of a sufficiently long barrel (it was 45 inches, I believe). The 3/4" AR500 appears to be able to stop every .50 caliber variant other than those with dedicated Tungsten (versus Multi-purpose) cores. The .300 RUM was unable to defeat the 3/4" AR500 with the standard 'black tip' that I had... but that could have been due to where it was manufactured and the core properties.
Several other AP variants out of the .300 RUM (single specimens of unknown origin, for the most part) that had a magnetic core, or steel core were able to defeat the 3/4" AR500 with two of them having a fair amount of residual energy (out of the eight
that fully penetrated the 3/4" plate). This was out of a 30" barreled .300 RUM with velocities of close to 4,000 fps and somewhat over 4,000 fps in some cases.
Other than those instances the 3/4" AR500 stopped just about everything else, including light weight Lehigh Defense (now Wilson Combat, I believe) 85 grain copper projectiles running ~ 5,000 - 5,100 fps!
Hope that this helps clarify what you will need to defeat your AR500 plate(s)!
You are one of the very best!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving and let me know if I can help you in any way...
Take care and keep your powder dry!
Why use standard .223 and not xm855 green tip penetrator rounds? Interested to see what it would do
One of my favorite channels here
If you have access to a 243, Hornady makes a 58 gr. Superformance that is nearly 4000 fps. That may be one to try.
Niiiiice
Try a .408 Cheytac. Thanks for the video !Next to try is a railgun.
I got myself an ar500 today and can't wait to try it out.
Always about to have some fun!!!!!!! Keep up the good work love it
4:50 - Aaaah, America ! priceless :D :D
ITS A BIT HARD TO FIND A .264 WIN MAG . SO .22- 250 50grn doing 3900fps 25.06 70 grn doing 3,700fps & a 300 RUM 150 grn doing 3500 fps
WTW Rocking old school revolver! I like it! 😎👍
Yeah buddy
Try some winchester super short magnum or some 308 slap rounds.
Good job
Miss some of these... Good one as always
What about using a 220 swift that's a fast round I'm not sure if I'm correct but I think it's faster than the 224
The Swift is up around 3800-3900fps factory loaded. Originally loaded over 4000fps when it came out.
Yup way faster, like 204 ruger fast
Fast but there us nothing to the bullet, wouldn't put a dent on the plate.
Yeah that's it still need a decent sized projectile or it will just tare apart on steel like that ay
Yes! I wanna see it. Over 4,000 for sure if you hand load
I think you hammered the .556 great finish
I bet everyone wants to party at your place! Looks like fun!
Man I love yours and Heavy Metal Guns and Outdoors (Paul) channel. You guys make my day and I look forward to seeing you all’s videos........makes my day
Slap round .50 cal.
4:34 is why I subbed
.243 with some 50grain projectiles,crack the 4000fps
That's the round.
If you have a lathe, turn your own bullets out of bronze. 55-57gr
Love the content! Keep it up!
That cmmg 5.7 is the ultimate close quarters rifle
👍👍
Need to try the 50cal slap round
It will blow up the gun
I had to see the beginning !👀!
Missed the premier. Worked late and had to run up to local shop after work. They had a CZ scorpion I had to put on layaway for couple weeks 👍
Take some of the bigger faster 224's, such as the Valkyrie, WSM, 22-250, 22 Nosler, etc., and do some hot handloads with SS109 Green Tip projectiles. Maybe try regular steel core FMJ, too.
None of those will work... the only thing that has a chance vs. 3/4" AR500 would be a Tungsten core out of a pretty hot.300 Magnum or .50BMG... with just a few exceptions!
my grandson has a ruger 6.5 like that i love that rifle
Clear
I already knew the results!. more speed is not going to do it, especially from a .22 caliber anything lol!!!!.SLAP rounds or nothing 😄😅 💥!!!
What is the deal with everyone and a .220 swift?! Get the smallest bullet and shoot it fast.....wait, no it's gotta be faster 🙌 please do it just so I can laugh at the comments. Maybe you need the .17 Hornet round!
??🙇
It was a joke
Nothing you can shoulder is going through that bad boy, a high quality drill is your best bet. lol.
A always fun trying, thank you Adam and Paul as usual and thanks to Ethan for the .224.👍🇦🇺🇺🇸👍
Yep👍 that's what I said weeks ago on the original video..I don't think these young punks even know what real ¾" steel is & probably never held a peice or tried to drill in it, let alone shoot at any!.all the 220, 224, 223 comments are a absolute joke..50bmg rounds didn't do it (no surprise).. so believing a 22 caliber anything will is ignorant!. AR500 steel is designed to be shot at; alot!! Check out some SLAP rounds Shane I believe they could do it from the 50, usually around $80-100 for one round.
Damn that .224 valkyrie looks like a hard hitting round!
Hits pretty hard!
I'm ready, woo hoo!
Nice looking 6.5 Ruger
The 90 gr. 224 Valkyrie is probably my all-around favorite ammo to shoot, no matter what application we're talking.
Excellent video, I think a 6.5 is in my future! And was that a revolver on your hip? 👍🏻👍🏻🇨🇦🇺🇸
I think I watched last nights video but then I had a total BLACKOUT!! .............ohhh yaaaa!🤣 Who-tee-hooooo....!
How about trying some of those thirty-ought-six accelerators they're pretty darn fast I think around four thousand feet per second
Thanks y’all great video I say a tank is your best bet or a 20mm
.950 jdj. Promise it will go thru 1 inch with two level 3 vest stacked up in front. We do that for spalling protection
wow, that a good target, thanks
I did want to see if 'my' 6.5 Creedmoor would do anything,..I did have my doubts.
But,..it was fun for sure!
Just ordered a 224 Valkyrie. Can’t wait to get to try some steel with it.
Something like a 220 swift with a bullet go on 4000 FPS
I was that or 22-250
I need a 22250
WHO_TEE_WHO I seen a lever action in the local gun store in 22250
Need a 22-250 with a 40 grainer loaded at 4100+
Whoooo_teeeeeeee_whooooooo 🍻
6.5-300 weatherby magnum
45/70
444 marlin
450 marlin
44 mag
50 yards back
Marlin or Henry rifles
Vs
Joint compound
5 lbs of flour or sugar
Gallon jug of water
Klondike bar
Shoot it with the Lehigh Defense Controlled Chaos ammunition starting with the smaller calibers and going up to the .50 in that ammo. That should make some good dents and might have enough energy transfer to go through the plate.
I can't be the only one who flinched ouch of habit when he aimed at the camera lol. Also I'd like to see .224 Valkrie against body armor
I seem to recall where there's some Vulcan rounds that may have been lost many years ago.
That is some hard steel
I highly highly suggest you try a hot .220 Swift load, you can get a 60 gr partition cooking over 4,000 FPS
I bet there's a few comments talking about steel core bullets. But... 3/4" steel is asking a lot out of any cartridge!
You're right. 3/4" is thick for any cartridge, but armor piecing, maybe. Oh well, I guess we'll find out one day.
Love the videos man, thank you for all ya do man
6 ARC will be your next build!
I believe you must tide up the steel , if you tide the steel solid not to sowing, some of those bolts will go true, keep the good job whodee 👍
Too dangerous
Your right, but be careful. I love your video clips. All the best to you and your family
Great video
If you *REALLY* feel the need for speed.......22-250! When you *REALLY* want a hole in just about anything....50BMG SLAP round (if you can find one!). 😉👍
Use 22-250 with 30 grain rounds
you're best bet you already tried. which is .50 bmg ap. I would suggest that again BUT with your target swinging like that it diverts a shit ton of energy down and away from the target acting almost like a cushion. Imagine standing in the middle of the room facing mike tyson 2 feet from you and he punches you in the shoulder. It's going to hurt but your shoulder is gonna "give"and not absorb all the energy, then think how it would feel if you backed up against a wall? A better suggestion would be to hard fix the target and try all of the loads you've already tried again.
maybe try the steel flat on a hard surface so it doesnt move
Gool video just thanks,👍👍👍
For sure a .300 Remington ultra magnum with 150gr swift siroco bonded bullet will make al kinds of holes. You have to try it!!!!
One comment............6mm ARC !😁
Hey brother and my other brother Paul
Great video 2020
Maybe try get hold of a 220 swift or something. They are supposed to kick lead at close to (or over depending on the load specs) 4000 fps with similar projectiles to a .223
Good one 👍
Thanks for watching Mark
@@WHOTEEWHO pleasure m8
Might try some of the elite ammo penetration 5.7 rounds
FMJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
220 swift, 22-250,25.06? Any of those yet??
Try the 375 chytech for making a hole in the plate
