I just switch to Plantbase from chronic constipation to going 3 times per day on a Plantbase lifestyle . This is my new happy place. I’m getting into juicing to hyper-nourish my body, green smoothies, and doing the starch solution is working for me phenomenally
Oh your advice is such Gold. I have watched other channels where they say don’t eat “carbs” (as if a donut and a zucchini are the same thing) and they stress the need for protein, so they load up on fatty steaks and chicken and tons of eggs, and they’re killing themselves with high cholesterol and a total lack of phytonutrients to stave off disease, and a total lack of fibre! Now fibre….. there’s a lecture people need from you beautiful Emmie. Thanks this video is fantastic information. I’m overhauling based on your advice! Thanks for the inspiration.
Riced cauliflower is excellent for adding to oatmeal and not being able to taste it. I keep frozen bags around for just this purpose as well as add to frozen bananas and chickpeas to make ice cream.
This video is SO informative and helpful to think about when crafting meals. I do eat more oil and nuts in my diet for healthy fats... and also just because I love cooking and like more freedom in what I can make, but your nutritional advice is certainly top-tier and I will be working on incorporating certain elements for sure!
We have a Tupperware microwave steamer. It holds 5lbs of chopped potatoes. I zap them for 17 minutes, flop them into a big bowl, use the starch water from the Tupperware bottom to mash them. It makes the BEST mashers! 🤩
It's the opposite for me. I eat most of my fruits at breakfast and just don't really crave sugar during the day. No desserts for me except on birthdays and holidays, it's just too sweet. Still clicked on the video cause I enjoy watching Emmies' videos.
I work nightshift as a cardiology nurse practitioner in the hospital. I’m used to eating “savory for dinner” which ends up being “breakfast.” It helps so much. It’s actually way more satisfying than traditional breakfast food. I needed you to reinforce this though, so thank you! 😂
Hey, fellow night shifter here! I am incorporating a healthy savory meal at “dinner” with is breakfast for us, so I call it Meal #1, and I’m leaving behind skipping that meal and waiting for my meal during work, cause then I ate too much at the end of my shift and had trouble sleeping.
@ interesting! What were you eating for “breakfast?” What if you had for your “breakfast” (beginning of shift) a heavier healthy meal, followed by a mid morning healthy snack (2am), then a light “dinner” at 7-8am before you go to bed? Just an idea…
According to my nutritionist, I need at least 90g of protein per day - which is, at times, a struggle. What is the amount of protein in this typical day of yours? I’m so excited to try this and happy I found you!
Thank you so much for your no nonsense, practical advice. And your consistent message . Such a great video, I really needed this, thank you beautiful 🥰😻💗
I have a few videos to catch up on Emmie. Thank you for another gem. I can't wait to see your 2025 content. Sweet potatoes, canned pumpkin, slow cooker ideas request :)
I'm not trying to loose weight but I want to try and avoid diabetes. I don't have it yet but if I keep living the way I did I will keep increasing my risk.
Every human is unique, different brain chemistry as I like to think of it.. if I had a smoothie in the morning, or maybe high protien peanut butter on bread with a few fruits, I'd actually get a ick and won't crave anything sweet.. and I didn't consume a lot of sugar bec I mostly had fruit, just a small amount of honey would make it sweet enough
Emmie, when I'm following Mcdougall's program I crave protein and fat. Can you make a video about that? Like I crave meat. But I know that's not healthy.
No you’re Body is craving iron vitamins bioavailable protein and fat. Please listen to your body when it is asking for a whole food. Look up Paul saladino, Paul chek or Stephen Cabral
Love this video! I finally hit a milestone of getting under 100KG (lost 7KG) I don’t know if this is usual but I don’t really have sugar cravings, mine is Salt and savoury foods, would this method work still?
Hi, can you talk about coconut milk in recipes like chickpeas and lentils. Does it increase satiety or just adds calories? How much of it to use for single serve recipes or best replacement for it. Thanks
Another fantastic What I Eat In A Day from the awesome, beautiful and healthy Emmie. Yummy 😋 vegan whole plant foods and love 🥰 the video. Love 💓 Emmie.
This isn't "diet culture". This is about helping people who have binge eating issues when cravings hit. "Diet culture" isn't a bad thing anyways....Do you see how many people are overweight now a days? Too many people want to be anti-diet culture to use as an excuse to pig out on sweets.
😔 You might have to start getting strict on meal prep to help since you work nights. I understand that you probably don't want to and are probably tired but it'll help. I had to do it when I was a kickboxer, maintaining or cutting weight and working and training full time.
My brain can't comprehend zucchini and oats. Just not my cup of tea. Ive been intermittent fasting since June. So usually I have chicken, rice and a bunch of vegetables for lunch.
Another thing I`ve noticed is extremely low amount of protein in all those meals! Especially if you exercise on regular basis these meals won`t cover your needs in terms of protein intake. Not a chance! If you are vegetarian (and I am one myself) you have to pay extra attention to your protein intake and add nuts, avocado and even eggs to make sure your body gets what it needs.
Agreed! Adding chia, flax, or pumpkin seeds to dishes can go a long way to boosting protein intake. I also drink OWYN chocolate shakes after more strenuous exercise like long runs.
Did you use quick oats or standard rolled oats - I understood rolled oats satisfy you longer but it seems like you only did a quick micro to cook. Thanks
I can't speak for anyone else, but for myself, I don't see a difference in satiety when it comes to rolled vs quick. I also add stuff to mine to bulk them up and prefer the texture of quick.
Can`t have savory meal for breakfast - no way! Doesn`t work for me! Couple of bananas and some almonds - that makes me feel good. Tried eggs, oats or vegetables a few times and fell always the same way - tired and disgusted. I don`t believe, that sweet breakfast has any negative effect on our bodies - look at Italians! They always start the day with something sweet and they are perfectly fine and healthy!
There is no scientific data unknowledging a savory breakfast as a better option to a sweet breakfast. You just need a balanced breakfast and that is what works. It is just that when you don’t know how to balance a meal it’s easier to create a balanced one with savory things rather than with sweet things. Think about it: as a savory breakfast you would for sure use bread but then also eggs or salmon or tofu or chickpea and maybe avocado or nuts or olive oil. As a sweet one many people use oats and then fruits and maybe a splash of milk. Or bread and jam. Or cookies and tea. In this way the savory one has carbs but also proteins and fats, while the sweeter one is mostly on the carb site which makes a less fullfilling meal, digestion going faster and mostly sugar. If you know how to balance a sweet breakfast that would work as the savory one. Then of course: if you are constantly struggling with guilt and over restriction on sweets, just a hint of something sweet like bread or jam or even fruit would make you jump to finish the all bag of cookies. But this is another condition and again, it would be very much helpfull to have balanced meals rather then gigantic portions of oats and zucchini that taste like nothing
I love your recipes but they are too varied. Who has time to prepare all this? Working professionals are up early, commuting to work, working 8 hours and commuting home.
You will make time for what is important to you. If you want to make excuses, you will. All that she made can be made ahead of time with minimal prep. I make my husband overnight oats every night for him to take to work. He eats a huge salad for lunch with starches and other things on it with a homemade dressing. The salad part many times comes out of a bag already prepared. Tofu and potatoes premade in the fridge. Black beans out of a can rinsed in a container ready to go. Sweet potatoes roasted and in fridge ready to go. Make a homemade dressing and homemade hummus every week that go on top on just about anything I make. Dinner is similar to what she made and easy. Have rice premade or I use the 90 second rice and steam whatever I want in the same microwave steamer she has and throw it in the bowl with the rice. Add my dressing and dinner is on the table in minutes. He works 10 hour days plus commute. We do what we have to do to eat healthy and both of us are slim and fit and in our 60's.
As a mom of 3 littles, working full time as a field adjuster (so I’m in my car 95% of the time) and having to be soccer/softball/scout mom after school…this is 100% possible. I just prepped my sweet potatoes and chicken (sorry Emmie I’m still a meathead lol) and am going to prep my lentils and rice for the week. The freezer is your friend. If you find a day to prep A LOT freeze some so you can move it to the fridge when you are ready.
Added fat IE nut butter and avocado, Tofu ect.. can cause weight gain or maintence. Minus those ingredients anyone would be thin like Emmie. unprocessed carbs make humans thin. all long lived populations on earth live on unprocessed carbs ie rice, potatoes, grains, legumes. Dr John McDougall.

It took me so long to realize that you can eat a large amount of food , feel full and still lose weight.
So true!!

Wow that’s awesome!
I don't know why I never think about using the water the potatoes cooked in, to mash into them.

I cut up spinach in my soaked oatmeal along with some berries and walnuts. I eat it cold.
I like the chewiness of the raw spinach in it.
Great tips,,especially during the holidays! Thanks Emmie!❤
So glad they’re helpful!

It took me forever to figure out that a low carb dinner will have my blood sugar crashing down and waking me up at midnight.
Thank you so much for your no nonsense, practical advice. And your consistent message . Such a great video, I really needed this, thank you beautiful 🥰😻💗
You are so welcome 😊
What a great video yet again! Thanks Emmie!😊
You're so welcome! ❤️
I freeze my grapes they taste good
Yes!!!! Especially in the summer. They are so sweet when frozen.
I am learning sooooo much from you!
I'm so glad!

I have a video on diabetes to help you! Search on my channel
Excellent videos. Will you do a video on getting rid of salt cravings?
Your body needs salt.... especially if you are active.
Thylakoids!! I tell everyone about them because of you! 😃
Do you know where the squeezy jar is from? Love the video!
Amazon!
Thalakoids are the flattened discs in plastids in a plant cell that has pigments that catch sunlight for photosynthesis...haha I remember

Love this video! I finally hit a milestone of getting under 100KG (lost 7KG)

How big of a bowl/plates do you use?
What can you add to tofu that is healthy for flavor without alot of fat or calories? Im new to tofu
Where do you get your plates?
Hi Emmie, how much did that box of sweet potatoes cost?
How to you start doing a plant base diet
Hi, can you talk about coconut milk in recipes like chickpeas and lentils. Does it increase satiety or just adds calories? How much of it to use for single serve recipes or best replacement for it. Thanks
It’s super calorically dense and high in saturated fats. So use lite or use a small amount and mix it with soy milk
Thanks for your reply😊
Another fantastic What I Eat In A Day from the awesome, beautiful and healthy Emmie. Yummy 😋 vegan whole plant foods and love 🥰 the video. Love 💓 Emmie.

So much for the eradication of diet culture. I knew that wouldn't last.

@ agree completely. You missed my sarcasm. I think we have much more of a problem with weight and health.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
What nut butter is on top of the oats?
Same one as for lunch!
Wish I could loose weight I'm 14 st on loads a tablets doctors keep on at me as high blood pressure I work nights it's so hard and I feel 😢

BROTH FOR BREAKFAST.
is it just me, or is this day of eating very low in protein? also very few healthy fats. like where's the olive oil? all veggies just steamed?
I would be 300lbs if I ate that every day. No way is that possible.

It looks like more than it is. Veggies don't have a lot of calories in them and she fills her plate with them. It's definitely doable.
Thank you ❤
