Was at their showroom this weekend, The Elite mini is the way to go if you are doing a mid rack on a small truck or A cab height back rack go full size Eiite. The price different is only $100.
That’s a really sweet tent, but I think those rooftop tents are kind of hard to justify unless you’re literally camping all the time. Otherwise to me, it makes more sense to just have a cap and sleep in the bed, or my most preferred method for camping is in a hammock. Never had a better night sleep camping than in a hammock.
I definitely would’ve went with a cap if I had a full-size bed, but I don’t and it’s very tight in there, we go camping quite often, a couple times a month up in the mountains and pitching a tent into rock is very difficult. It takes more time to pitch the tent and trying to find level ground and put our steaks into rocks than anything lol.
Looks really big. I think you can get the dog in by having her in back of truck, stand on tailgate and lifting her through the side. If the side window unzips... First camping trip will be in Michigan? Maybe at Silver Lake Sand Dunes? Burrr lol Can't wait to see it! Maybe we can all fit and with two dogs 😂
The combination of the tires, lift kit, and the tent did affect my MPG. However, I believe the tires was the greatest effect. The tent probably reduced me by about two MPG. Overall, I’m running about 14 miles per gallon. The reason I did that was so I still was able to utilize the bed of the truck, putting in a half rack just was not going to work for me
@@JT4X4OFFROADING ok so somewhat similar then. I got the same tent and mounted it along with a rough country 270 awning and I lost 3mpg. Averaging 16 with 2.5lift and 35 K02s
The one you see in the video is my ready hour, but you can also use this one… ruclips.net/video/sJzLZaSg0GE/видео.htmlsi=mQnASrDc4MeQIMs4 I used the link above the entire last weekend camping and it did fantastic
Is the tent a alto elite or alto mini.i have a ranger with 5 ft bed.i want the extra space of the elite but worry about overhang I have rci 18 bed rack almost cab heighth. I thought colorado had a5 ft bed also.a alto mini would fit the ranger not sure about the elite.how tall is your extrusion rack? Your set up looks perfect
The Colorado does have a 5 foot bed, I overlap my roof about 4 to 5 inches, my bed rack is 17 inches so what I did is had some tent risers made by Xtrusion overland (2.5 inches) it said it at the perfect height to clear my roof and lineup even with my tailgate
I’ve been following your build. Everything looks great! I just picked up a 24 Colorado trail boss. I’m going the softopper route but xtrusion overland states their racks will fit over them. Do you recommend the xtr 1 or xtr3? This tent would serve my family very well also.
I love my XTR1, the XTR3 has front, middle and rear uprights with cross bars. I would go and take a look at which one would work best for you. They are both great! Also, when you decide to purchase consider using our discount code. I appreciate your support. The tent is awesome and the Alto Elite is king for a large family. It doesn’t have insulation because it comes with a heater Port, they assume you’re pairing it with a diesel heater. If you need insulation you can go with Ikamper.
@@JT4X4OFFROADING Thanks so much for the info! I will probably end up going XTR1 Softopper version of the rack. Are the tent risers you have installed an option I can add on when ordering? I see the ROOF TOP TENT BRACKETS when I build out my order. Also, I will definitely use your discount code when I get there.
@@Morgrir yes you should be able to add them on, they’re going to go from 1 inch to 2 1/2 inches so you just have to determine how high you want or you can order later but remember they do have a lead time because they have to cut them to your specification.
I am averaging about 15.3-15.6. It took it down by about 1MPG. My tires and city didn’t do well in the first place so it caused very little impact. Mostly drag on the highway but it’s not bad
Sheeeeesh that tent is rad !!
Thanks man! still figuring everything out lol
I’m actually working on a tent video also 😂
Looks great man! Super jealous with my softshell. Hope you guys get some great use out of it looking forward to the videos in the future!
I like the idea of a soft shell a lot. Is it loud going down the road?
Thank you! this should be camping a whole lot easier when we’re not trying to stake into rocks lol
@@sahzookey I do not notice the sound going down the road. I guess it would also depend which brand you get and how it’s set up.
Hell of a setup!
Thank you!!
On a roll outfitting the truck 🤑 Are you maybe considering the decked drawer system too? IMO that’s also a must have too
I would love one of those, maybe later down the road!
Setup looks great 👍🏻
Thank you!!
Bought one too. Have a ZR2 extended cab with 6 foot bed and Xtrusion rack. Headed to Death Valley to test it out along with an OVS 270 awning.
I bet you you’re going to love it, that awning is sick! Stay safe and have fun!
Did you consider buying the Annex for a change room and a place for the dog to sleep in?
I am considering it, getting the pup inside will be a task lol
Was at their showroom this weekend, The Elite mini is the way to go if you are doing a mid rack on a small truck or A cab height back rack go full size Eiite. The price different is only $100.
I love the elite, there’s so much room. It’s pretty epic.

I think so!
Cool!
Hi jess miss ur vlog, my phone was broken and this is my new one ..
Missing watching all jokes and travels in ur vlog.
@jt4x4offroading Hey man quick question, how has having the tent above the roof line affected your MPG?

Wish i could find one that fits my 2023 ZR2 Desert Boss with Sport Bar and Light Bar attachments
We absolutely love this tent! would it be worth removing the sport bar and maybe getting a rack?
@@JT4X4OFFROADING nope. I can just get a truck bed tent with air mattress
for the wheels and tires on your truck are they stock trailboss or?
Stock wheel, tires are after market
What kind of solar bank is that , that powers the small led strip.

What height did you get your extrusion bed rack?
17 inches, can level
Is the the 19" bed rack. They have low,mid and high (19"). Thanks
I have custom sized at 17 inches but the 19 might be a god idea if you want a tent otherwise you need risers
I ordered one but they told me its gonna take a month before it will be shipped?
That’s about right if they are waiting on their shipment. Well worth the wait!
I ordered mine and was also told it would be approximately a month lead time.
Quick update just got my alto elite. Three month lead time. Now I just have to get it up on the rack.

How much does something like this cost?
2500$ or so depending on the size
@ does that include the bed rack?
