Hello both. I decided to have a break from RUclips over Christmas, mainly cos I've been sleeping in the kids house cos I've had really bad vertigo. Good to see you both so chirpy despite the hospital visit. Such a faff just to get some antibiotics. What a cheeky cow saying you shouldn't be ringing 111! That's what it's there for.
You have vertigo too Helen! has it gone, or do you still have it? I still have it when I lie down. It was a faff. If the surgery didn't make it so difficult to get to a doctor, then we wouldn't have to use the 111 service. Pat says they get charged every time we use the 111 service, I don't know if that is true.
@trevorpat-lifeontherun yes, still got it Trevor. Didn't realise you still had it too. It happened at the top of the stairs yesterday while I was adjusting my socks, then when I went to bed last night, and then today in the campervan when I tilted my head to look inside the fridge. It's bloody horrible! As you say, if the doctors wasn't so crap, you wouldn't need to ring 111. It's there for when you can't get a doctors appointment and when it's not important enough to go to A&E, so the stupid reception needs to keep her opinions to herself. The service is there for people with health concerns and that's why you used it. Hope you got Pats antibiotics sorted.
It only happens in bed when I turn over, so I can cope with that. People tell me about a movement you can do to get rid of it, is it the APLEY movement or something, there are youtube vids demonstrating it. I really don't think the receptionists at the surgery realise how unusable there service is Helen.
Hi Trevor & pat , hope yous had a lovely time over the festive period & all the best for “2025”. Sorry to hear about pat , hope she gets better soon there’s nothing worse !!, they will prob give trimethoprim caps . Hate sounding a negative Nellie but in this world now there are 3 letters across the board & they are (PTB) !!!!?. Pass The Buck . Have a better chance of calling Ghost Busters !!. Enjoy your meal & stay well . Thank you for your vlogs .❤️
Hi Pat and Trevor, just wanted to say thankyou for your reply about my stoma operation, I've been home for 3 days and suffering still. Can I ask if Pat has any further advice she can give me. I was I intensive care for a week, and I'm still vomiting a few times a day. Does it get better. Thankyou for your Christmas videos, they really Cheered me up heart❤
Hi Rachel. Glad you are home. It took Pat a long time to get over the operation, but she manages her stormer very well with no problems. I will ask Pat to tell you a little about it on the next vlog we can do at the breakfast table.
Hope you had a lovely family meal out. I hope Pat recovers quickly from her water infection. Be careful in the icy weather it’s very slippy under foot in a lot of places. Take care ❤xx
I was supplied by our public hospital in the home with various aids when I was having back problems, leg problems. There was a bar which slid under the mattress with a riser that helped me sit up, but I sent it back as it got in the way. Then I was given a high rise straddle chair so I could sit at the table or bench, that went back because I still couldn't sit or bend in the middle. Last was the high rise toilet chair thing with a tube that went inside the toilet so I could almost stand erect but I chose not to use it (it's still in its plastic wrap in the shed - another museum piece). Actually, this last item was a decent piece of equipment, easy to clean if I misfired and folded so it could be put away or assembled quickly if the need arose. When my wife tore her ligament, I bought a frame so she's able to lower herself onto the seat gently. I find it a useful piece of gear. Our toilet and bathroom shower have safety rails fitted which are really useful. We miss the rails when having to use facilities without. That piece will not be going into our museum collection.. We have trouble occasionally booking doctors for check ups. I spoke with our doctor, he will conduct phone consultations when we need new prescriptions for existing scripts at the end of the day. We can book these via an app now which is handy, the scripts arrive by sms messages. Then we can transfer these to another app where we can order from our regular chemist. It's a business and a half this getting old. They (the vultures) will get you one way or another. Sorry to hear of your plight Pat. Trevor's looking after you the best he can, from what I see and hear. I'll leave it there folks. You must get a few laughs at some of the comments us subscribers write from time to time. We mean well. All the best, good health and happiness as our years progress. Goodnight..
Wow, sounds like you guys have been through a lot! Glad you’re managing to find what works for you. Here’s to staying healthy and dodging those “vultures!”
Trevor the good point of Patches is you can make a request to a GP, without needing an appointment. I use it regularly and find it really helpful, maybe ask Tracy to help you get started.
I have been exploring patches website Alec, and agree that it can be useful in the future, but it is linked to our surgery, and that may well be its weak point because our surgery is very poor. I have seen a yellow banner saying such and such a service is unavailable until a particular date, and Tracey says she has seen that banner everytime she has tried to use patches, so I am not very optimistic.
I was getting a few UTIs & apparently that is something else that happens with getting older. Better to get it checked out medically first. However after the 3rd time for within 12 months, & after going to Dr & taking antibiotics, i did a Dr Google search & found a few recommendations to take probiotics. So now I take a daily probiotic & have not had a UTI for 6 mths, since i started taking the probiotics. They can be expensive, however I always look out for them on sale.
That's interesting, I know nothing about prebiotic. This is the first water infection Pat has had for many years, brought on by too much sweet food over Christmas.
Hi Trevor and Pat, found your vlog interesting. I have struggled with Patches too, it's not as easy or helpful as they make it out to be. Love you both, Pat is so lovely, kind, never complains and is always optimistic. 😊. Take care xxx
takes too long Sue. They could do a dip test in front of you and know immediately that you have a water infection like the Dr did at Wharfedale hospital.
Pat My son used to get water infections and our Dr who was an elderly lady told me to give him a drink of either lemon barley or cranberry juice each day. You put water with each. He's had a lot less symptoms. He prefers the cranberry 😊 x
Knock on wood I don’t take antibiotics but friends and family when on them have a seven to ten day in Canada so hearing three days sounds like it just wouldn’t be long enough. Hope Pat gets over it and also gets her sugars down. Have a lovely meal out. Take care.
Enjoy your Chinese meal . Once upon a time we had family doctors who used to say good morning Mrs or Mr what can we do for you today. Now they just tap away on their computers and you tell them the problem all the while that their tapping. Never tell you if they have won the game their playing😂😂
Although you are young, it is a good idea to try out different disabled appliances as people will value your honest opinion for people who are looking to purchase these. There are a plethora of products out there from pendant alarms and all daily living appliances, including diabetic monitoring systems. Don't make your channel purely product reviews, but some trials and opinions included in your content, may be very useful to some of your viewers. x
I take that on board Valerie, thank you. I don't trust the company that contacted us because there is no sign of them when doing a google search, and you have to be careful who you get involved with these days. If another company contacts us who I think are legitimate I will consider it.
The raised toilet seats are very unhygienic once fitted they are hard for the elderly to take off and to clean you also need to clean underneath them which means removing it. Much better to have a comfy fit toilet which are higher than a normal toilet. I know because not only am I a exnurse but I’m taking care of my mother in law who has one. I’ve just had the high toilet fitter much better.
Doctors are useless now. ours are the same. can't get an appointment after waiting over half an hour to get through to reception! it's annoying. never used to be like this. sometimes i go to the docs receptionist and speak to her in person. you seem to get somewhere like that. always worth a try. good luck.
With our doctors we can fill in a form online then the doctor calls you back the same day and if you need an appointment you get one that day. You can do it on the NHS app. Do you have the NHS app?
I have both the NHS app and the Patches app. Today there is a yellow sign on the bit that you refer to saying the service is unavailable until Monday at 8am. I don't need it at the moment because I have got Pats tablets, but I thought I would give it a try and see how easy or difficult it was.
Absolutely disgusting the way we are all being treated. Why are we paying for gps training when you can’t get to see them. Where have all the doctors gone . We British are too soft , in other countries people would be out on the streets protesting. The way they are treating the elderly is wrong . The king needs to step in and sack this government . I am sorry you are being treated like this. 3 tablets is not enough by any means. Don’t think other countries are being treated like this. Do the idiots making all these decisions think they are not going to get old. Sorry for my rant . Would be interested in other peoples thoughts or am I alone in having these thoughts.
I understand your frustration, and it's a sentiment shared by many. It's important for us to voice our concerns and advocate for better treatment in the healthcare system. I may have made myself unpopular with our gp service for expressing my frustrations with them. I shall continue revealing how we get on with the NHS on this channel for all to see.
Sadly our “king” rents some of his land to the NHS for an ambulance depot stripping our already struggling services of a large chunk of tax payers money … it’s disgusting. The “government “ wants people to go private hence making it difficult to see GPs. Also felt I had to share this. Hope Pat gets well soon Trevor x
Doctors are a law unto themselves now Trevor. Everything is on line or by phone. I have found the only way to either see one or get a telephone appointment is to actually go into the surgery and speak to the receptionist. I refuse to sit in a telephone queue listening to crap music for ages!! Hope Pat feels better soon and manages to get her sugars down. See you tomorrow, bye!!
The trouble with our practice is that they won't give you a doctors appointment at reception, they just tell you to phone at 8am and join the que. Pat seems ok in herself, but she realises she can't ignore the fact that she has diabetes, and things can get really complicated if she isn't careful.
I'm sorry Pat is having a rough time of it. Prayers for speedy recovery.
She is on the antibiotics now, so hopefully it will clear it up.

@trevorpat-lifeontherun the raised toilet seats!!!
Oh, OK. That's interesting to know. I wonder how many watching us think the same. ❤
Hopefully Pat’s problem will clear up soon 🤞🤞. Always something hey! Hope the antibiotic helps Pat. Good luck, stay safe, stay smiling. Judy🇨🇦🇨🇦
