You almost grabbed most of the words that we mispronounced in our society and pronounced them as it is as we do in our day-to-day life. This reminds me lots of memories about my past but I still love it. I still can remember that word “interview” I pronounced exactly the way you did and one of friends from uni corrected me personally and very gently. This happened may be 15 years back, and since then I never ever forget this word. it always reminds me that incident whenever I pronounce this word even today and I like it. Great job Dilhara, keep it up 👏👏👏
Hi! Yes the same must have been happened to anyone since we re learning English as a second language.Thank you so much for sharing your feedback and memories ! 🙌
Hey mam, it's great lesson for SL 😊. I would add some most common words that Sri Lankans do daily. 1. Transfer (transer) 2. Bumper (බපර්) 3. Overflow (ඔිප්ලෝ) 4. Hump (බමිිප්) 5. Wheelbrace (විිල් brush) 6. Shock Absober (සොකටි) 7. High Beam (හෙඩි ලයිටි)
Someone should give her a medal for finding the trickiest words we mispronounce here in SL. Sometimes, the doubt and fear gets the best of us overtime from pronouncing these words correctly like License, Finance and biscuits, all thanks to our society.
I would like to mention that, in British English, the word "certificate" has different pronunciations when used as a noun and as a verb. As a noun, it's pronounced /səˈtɪfɪkət/, and as a verb, it's /səˈtɪfɪkeɪt/. These phonetics are based on Received Pronunciation (RP), a standard form of British English pronunciation. Both pronunciations she mentions at 12:00 are correct: the first is for the noun and the second for the verb. An important topic and a wonderful video. Cheers 👏
Hi! Thank you for sharing.Actually that was the reason for me to choose this word for the video too.But I have somehow forgotten to mention about the verb . Thanks again!
@@EnglishCoachDilhara Hello there! No worries whatsoever. I must say, I hold this video in high regard. It's been absolutely important, not only in shedding light on complicated pronunciations such as this but also in correcting several words that I've been mispronouncing for quite some time. It is truly remarkable how important your work is for all of us seeking to learn the complex nature of the English language. Please do carry on with your brilliant efforts, and I eagerly await your forthcoming content. Cheers! 🙏
@anurangaliyanage4202 Thank you very much for your thoughtful and encouraging comment. I 'm glad you found this content interesting. Your perspective as an educated viewer on this platform is truly invaluable .
Hello there..Found this video thanks to the utube algorithm. Thought I was doing well with English pronunciation as I'm living in a western country. But I would say this is a proper eye opener for me. Corrected some pronunciations and compared them with Oxford as well. Subbed you as an appreciation. Keep them coming more. Love the way you talk and how you present yourself but a friendly suggestion..Be mindful about tha pace you deliver. Nevertheless a great effort that needs to continue. 😊
I got my education at University level both in US and Canada. Happy to say despite going thru all the words you pronounce here I found no mistakes in pronunciation also glad you brought up the most mispronounced word in SL, Pizza.
good job. I like to see your beauty, fashion as well as the way of teaching. All are great teacher thank you so much. You teach us very useful things in English.
Hi Ma'am! I found this video very interesting! And...I would like you to add in words like Fiancè, Buffet, Moustache, Gorgeous, Dessert, Finale, Gesture, Education, Debut and Business on your next pronunciation video!💫 It might be useful...
Very useful and timely information shared by you. I enjoyed your presentation. I have experienced some youngsters and elders pronouncing words like Doctor and school in a wrong way. For example school is pronounced as isscool.May be because it’s written in Sinhala as ishool. There are other words like this.words that has an O is pronounced wrong like Doctor. May be you could think of someway to teach this. I wish you good luck for your future.
Boring නැතිව හරි ආසාවෙන් english ඉගෙන ගන්න පුලුවන් මේ channel එකෙන් ❤ thank you teacher
Thank you ! 😇 Happy learning!
Video එක බාගෙට බලපු.නැත්නම් මේකෙ හරය වැරදි විදියට තේරුම් අරගෙන තිබුණ කිහිප දෙනෙක් මේ video එක යටින් පල කරන්න බැරි තරම් අපහාසාත්මක විදියට comment කරල තිබුණා!😁
In the first place this is not an accent training video🤦🏻♀️.
I also have a mix of all these accents මොක්ද මම british වත් American වත් නෙවෙයි and this is not to offend anyone but just to share what is correct👌

Don't be discouraged by haters. Just ignore them and do your "National Service" (this really is)
its way of srilankan, dont worry do your best good luck.
ඒව අදාල නෑ.....එහෙම කියන මිනිස්සුන්ට හරියට සිංහලවත් බෑ..වීඩියෝස් godak quality ...

ගොඩක්ම සතුටුයි, මම වචන 35න් 29ක් ම හරියටම උච්චාරණය කරනවා ❤ අනිත් ඒවත් අද ඉඳන් හදාගන්නවා. බොහොම ස්තුතියි මිස්! ❤

Jobe well done! Great work. So annoying when people pronounce it wrong and then try to argue about how right they are🤣
