One comment that got me the most is when somebody said "Partner games are just low quality I only care for high quality games so I don't care for these partner showcases". Absolutely DELUSIONAL Nintendo fanboy that won't even consider playing other games from other developers than Nintendo. Probably doesn't even realize that it was the lacking partner support that made the WiiU such a big flop.
I mean when I was a kid I also only played Pokemon and nothing else so I understand where that narrowmindedness comes from. But I've since branched out a lot. My absolute favorite genre is still JRPGs (Pokemon was my introduction to gaming after all) but I've had a lot of fun with other genres as well. Limiting yourself to one genre, publisher or even game series is just really boring imo. And I'm saying that as an autistic person. If an autistic person like me who loves sameness and routine can enjoy different genres from time to time then so can everyone.
It also makes the wait for new games from your favorite series much more bearable because there are ALWAYS new interesting looking games coming out. You can't really get impatient when the developers finally release new infos about your anticipated game if there's more games you want to check out at any moment than you'd ever be able to play them all.

Honestly this is sooooo true. Also autistic person here, the more I’ve found myself branching out and playing new series, the more I genuinely have come to love gaming as a whole. It’s just really cool to have a newfound perspective on the genre and experiencing so many different kinds of stories

    Yeah I've noticed this too.
You can have a direct with a ton of really exciting looking RPGs in it but most people don't care, they just want their first party Nintendo games. Like, the biggest announcement of the direct imo was the Sora no Kiseki FC remake and yet in the western direct it was a footnote that was shown off during a sizzle reel. Even the presenters know western audiences don't care.

This was probably the most based, mature, and thoughtful video on yesterday's Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase/Indie World. We really should be grateful for the Switch and the huge library of games it has and probably the best third party support Nintendo has ever had since the SNES era. Furukawa has stated back in 2019 that the Switch was intended to have a longer than usual lifecycle. Also if you look at history, the Xbox 360 had an eight year life cycle and now the average lifecycle for all these HD consoles is around 7 years. Hell, the PS4 was still supported right after the PS5 launched. Overall, the Switch was the smartest idea and I really love having the luxury of being able to squeeze short bursts of gaming sessions on the system with my busy schedule.

    • @nishquikpops
      @nishquikpops  3 месяца назад +2

Thank you! I'm glad I got my point across in a mature way haha. Yes I do agree the Switch is probably the best idea Nintendo has had, and I think the 3rd party support will only grow. Many devs are hopping on the chance to have their games in some form or another on the console since everyone basically has one. My backlog on Switch alone is still pretty big and might even grow with this latest Direct lol

The switch era is the one where I really tried many different kinf of games, and I'm glad I did that, I got to play many games I wouldn't have otherwise.
And for the games I'm excited are EoW, Trails in the Sky, DQ3HD, Atelier Yumia, Tales of Graces F, and many others. The backlog just keeps growing.

Yeah I agree. I got way more into JRPGs and also got into a few new franchises like Monster Hunter and SMT. There's still so many games in my Switch backlog I haven't gotten to yet lol

I almost cried when Sky remake got shown, the happiness was through the roof like no direct or showcase ever before, even with the hype of Metroid Prime 4 last direct. And at the direct that XC3 was announced my initial reaction when the trailer began was "this isn't BotW sequel....where is it...what even is this...". That led into the funniest reaction with my friends in voice chat though when after just a few seconds "WAIT, BRITISH ACCENT!!! IT'S XENOBLADE OMG NEW XENOBLADE LET'S FREAKIN' GO!!!!!!!"
But yeah I often see these reactions in any presentation where there is always a horde of people who jump to "who the hell cares about that?' or "nobody will play this!" but never thinking that not 100% of all games ever are meant to appeal to them specifically. It's okay to see something that's not for you, let the people who enjoy that have their happiness without having a horde of people rain on their parade, especially when they're getting something they could have only ever dreamed of seeing happen like the Sky remake.

I do wanna say, whenever you do get around to playing TTYD, as someone who’s a big Mario/general rpg fan, it’s REALLY good. But I do really agree with your thoughts here. I know it’s not really my place to say what people should or shouldn’t enjoy, but I do feel like people rag on games that don’t typically interest them in Directs way too much. It never adds anything meaningful to any discussion and just makes me really annoyed

I really resonated with the sentiment you raised about there being plenty of great content and software titles already present on the console and still more highly anticipated games still yet to come. I would be lying if I said I wasnt at least a little bit intrigued to see what Nintendo has in store for the successor to the Nintendo Switch (I.e. Nintendo Switch 2) but I also have this pervasive, overarching feeling that a majority or at least a large portion of the install base is wanting to rush into this next generation and is disregarding what is still upcoming and all the untapped potential that they may have missed out on that's still readily available.

I think the appeal for switch two for at least a subsection of the people asking for it is the potential backwards comparability.
In a perfect world it would also give a boost to older games ala the Xbox Series X, but even if not it’s hard not to know the next thing is coming and that investments in games may have less value in the future

  • @obba40

Tails is a good series especially the older one and berseria. You dont have to be intimated by trails. No one forcing you to speedrun the series to catch up. Start with 1 and then if you enjoy it there is more of it. And they all are very good. You can wait for them to remake the rest or sky or play everything on pc and consoles. And you dont have to play them back to back although some have big cliffhangers lol.

I've noticed that people are actually starting to call this out a bit. If you look in the comment section of the direct you'll see a lot of people stating their annoyance at all of the winning about their not being enough games like Mario or something switch 2 related. There now seem to be people who genuinely understand that a game isn't bad just because it doesn't appeal to their tasts.

Honestly, the last few years I've been enjoying the Directs A LOT. Y'know why? Because my expectations are LOW. At ZERO sometimes!
And on top of that I just think "Well, that's not my cup of tea" and normally don't bash things because frankly I've seen some people do that (specifically with this Partner Showcase) and I really don't think that's right. Though I agree with some people that think the announcers for the Indie World showcases are so ANNOYING.
I saw people mentioning live during this joint direct that they were upset there's no Switch 2 announcement or any 1st part announcements and that's where I start kinda bashing because... can you people NOT comprehend what these are? That's also where I feel a lot of hate/anger comes from.
Anyway my top things for this direct were Atelier (genuinely looks really good!), the grand cardinal sin of Trails Sky 1 remake but in a sizzle reel. That got me so hyped I'm playing the original version on PSP right now! lol
But what took the cake for me was Tales of Graces f Remastered!!!! Like really can't wait for that, also I saw a listing at best buy... It's $40! Like yes! Total W for Bandai Namco here.
My honorable mention though will be Yakuza Kiwami. Like, about time we get Yakuza on Switch?????????????
Edit: Oh and the last thing I forgot to mention is that honestly Switch isn't that bad. It's weaker yes, but with the right devs and time/money you can port a game or make a version for Switch that WORKS and LOOKS good. But either way graphics arent everything. Games and these events are for fun. I really wouldn't mind if Switch 2 doesn't have a big hardware upgrade in the sense of 4k and whatever FPS we're at now (240?) but could maybe run games that are a bit more intensive.

I've never seen any of your videos before, but based on this I'd say you're a fan of a genre I know little about in JRPG. I have played DQ11, which I bought for the music and it became one of my favourite games of all time. I have 7 and 8 on my 3DS and I'm looking forward to the HD-2D remakes.
However. When I see this partner showcase and I'm overwhelmed with JRPG options I have no clue what the difference is and which one to pick. Since I'm not a very good player I'm not often choosing Live-Action games, but I'm interested in Xenoblade. I've heard a lot of good things about the "tales" games, but no idea where to start with them.
I think platformers or puzzle games are easier to market in that sense, because you immediately see whether it's fast paced, or slower, very open or tightly designed etc., but that might also be just my experience.
What I basically try to say is that while you're picking up on a lot of interesting games I'm just there "oh, another Live-Action RPG" and wait for the next thing, hoping it's the new Layton game. 😂

I notice that RPG fans tend to still like the Mario and Zelda focused directs and understand how big they are for Nintendo and gaming in general while most Nintendo fans don’t really understand how wonderful JRPGs are.
Personally my game collection is 99.5% RPGs and the only Nintendo games I tended to play before the Switch were Fire Emblem and Golden Sun but after having my Switch since 2018 I not only bought the Fire Emblem games but I got into Xenoblade after Definitive Edition, and then I got Mario 3D All Stars after the Mario Anniversary direct because I used to play Mario games as a kid, and that lead to diving more into Mario RPGs(Super Mario RPG and TYD) and then I even got into Metroid after Dread came out and I have had a blast with Prime 1 despite mostly liking the 2D Metroidvanias more.
Hell if I had more money I probably would have bought the 3D Kirby game and Pikmin 4 because the directs made them look so damn good.
Personally the games I am looking most forward to are Mario and Luigi Brothership, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom(Link’s Awakening was the only Zelda game I have ever played to the end back in the day(gbc version) and this is using the same engine as the Link’s Awakening remake and has sick gameplay so that is a must), Metroid Prime 4(hopefully 2 and 3 come to Switch and Switch 2 before that is released) and of course that absolutely sick looking remake of Trails of the Sky.
I haven’t really delved into the Trails series for the longest time because the releases are so split up between systems but I do have Trails in the Sky on the PSP and I bought Trails of Zero when that came out and had fun with that.

    Personally i really like rpg
I'm not a big fan of mario outside of mario kart and 3d mario games.
When we got 2 directs one after the other FULL of mario games i wasn't very excited .
But at the end of the day it's normal if not all games are "great", if i don't want to play something, then someone else will and they will probably like it, it's just not for me

This is tough right? I’m a JRPG gal all the way.
I think this one had a number of JRPG announcements that bounced off of me for one reason or another.
    - Atelier games don’t interest me because I dont like crafting in my games. Which is a shame because it otherwise looks incredible
    - Tales Graces I’m sorry for the broken record maybe, but I really don’t care for this specific series either!
    - Trials Remake, okay this one might be a winner but I am so intimidated by Trials!! I played Legend of Nayuta because it’s a spin off, but this series feels otherwise impenetrable
    - Dragon Quest 3, I literally just played all three of these dragon quest games on switch! Lol so I ruined my shot.
My most exciting take away was the Yakuza announcement (though Sega is prob going to go with LRG for a physical) and I also really loved the Castlevania collection (but I already own these on my 3DS!)
It just felt like every announcement in this direct had a “that’s cool, BUT”

People dont really care about the games in Directs they care more about their fabricated hype. Everything must resolve about some hype. And when the show is done they move on talking about the next instead of the actual games.

If you’re talking about the scene between Rean and Altina then I hate to break it to you, but that scene is not creepy. Altina just misunderstood and she didn’t know Rean very well at the time (though she and the others do like to tease him about it afterwards).
Edit: I just rewatched the scene, and even then Altina was largely messing with him. There's no creep factor in that scene so there's no need to remove or rewrite it.
