Love Mr Louie sunbathing. My little pug has to be surgically extracted from a patch of sun. We have an expression in my house of 'suns out pugs out' and I love seeing other pugs doing the same. If there is a patch of sun my pug will find it and not leave (even for her fave treats; carrot or banana) until it goes away.
Daylight savings was originally introduced to reduce use of energy sources and to have more light during working hours. In modern times, some countries no longer use DST. Here in Canada, most provinces still continue the practice, but some have stopped.

tbf, I live in the North of Scotland, about same line of latitude as Alberta and without daylight savings the sun would not rise until almost 10am.
