This is the type of attention to detail that really makes a restoration look good. Fantastic job man. I'll say i've gone down the road of wire wheeling all the individual brackets and factory hardware and stuff on my Z projects. I now use a hot plate and a large pan of diluted white vinegar and let the brackets soak until all the gunk starts sloughing off, then rinse it really well before primer. It saves a load of time with all the little stuff that you want to look nice. Vinegar can take a long time, but heated vinegar works much faster. Also, if you want solvent proof aerosol coatings, you gotta use a 2K epoxy paint where you slap the bottom of the can to mix in the hardener. The only problem is the shelf life after you mix it is only a few hours, so you want to have a bunch of parts prepared to paint. I learned the hard way and did my valve covers in Duplicolor blue. It all bubbled off when i spilled fuel installing the fuel rail. 2K paint is supposed to be almost as durable as powdercoat. Keep up the great work!
Hey, funny you mention the Vinegar. I have used it, when i rebuilt my alternator. i stripped it down and dumped it all into a 5L tub . It did take about 3 to 4 days to get "most" of the rust off, and that was just sitting outside during winter. Have not tried the heated part. I am just impatient i guess, i want results NOW!! haha! I have also many times considered getting a sandblasting cabinet. I am doing my rear shocks now, and its a pain manually removing all the scum and rust. My painter has said many times i can go down to his shop and use his blasting cabinet, but its a way aways out of my way to go there. And yeah, I know about 2k in a can. Once again, my "local" paint shop, isn't so local now i moved out of the parents house. They have those 2k custom pressure pack cans, whatever colour you want, they are expensive but, at about $60 each. I was planning on getting some candy red and clear mixed up to do my new front calipers. Thanks for the support brother!
@@Dolf260z yeah I need to do a overview of the set up. Also bring some parts so you can polish them up coote spec. Just don't give that cheap anodisation paint. Haha
@@180sxdeano bring em over coot i need you to do a power point connection outside for my air compressor. i already have the GPO and conduit installed with a draw rod fitted. should be a case of slide off a roof tile and connect it to the power point over my bench. ehhh!
