Everyone keeps saying you need a mentor like Guy, but did you ever stop to wonder who Guy had to help him? Sometimes in life, the only way is believing yourself even when no one else does. What makes a mentor great is the fact that they had little-to-no help through their own difficult times, but they believed in themselves and pushed forward. That's why they believe (and prove) that if THEY could do it without anyone's help, then anyone can do it with THEIR help. It's a blessing to have a mentor like Guy, who believes in you, but real strength is in being like him. Believe in yourself. Don't wish for someone like Guy. Be him. And then who knows, sometime in the future, someone sees themselves in you and decides to be your "mentor".
Well, hard work beating talent is only one of the many themes of the show. It was one of the first shown to us, but there are also many others. Examples: Never giving up on your dreams, never abandoning your friends("those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum"), keeping promises("I never go back on my word"), trying to make amends with those you have disagreements with/forgiveness(i.e. like all of Shippuden), making sacrifices for the next generation (will of fire), and many more. People criticize Shippuden for abandoning the hard work themes, but I think we saw enough hard work put in from the characters in the original series and I think the shift from the themes of hard work to the more friendship based themes was a good choice. The themes of friendship were already prevelant in the original series as well. Some of the themes in the show might be taken to an extreme, unattainable naive level like forgiving people who've murdered hundreds of people, but I don't think the show has to be realistic in that sense. I think the fact that Naruto can convince all these completely warped murderers back into good people is very inspiring even if unrealistic. When I watch Naruto and see him convince these characters we used to despise into decent people, it makes me feel good inside.
From elementary through high school I was always told that since I have a learning disability, I can’t do most things that kids and regular and honor classes can do. I’ve always been taken lightly in sports And any competitions. Finally I thought, enough was enough. I grew tired of people putting me down because of what the school labeled me as. Starting freshman year of high school I study I worked hard after school I did as much homework as I could I fought the school system to put me in honors classes for 5 years and still didn’t give me what I deserved! By graduation they were passing out rewards. I have one first and second Greatest of all boys sports in my school! I ended with a 3.9 GPA and The highest record of a GPA of kid with a Disability is 3.5, so I feel like I already exceeded my expectations. When I walked up on the stage with all those rewards. Everybody looked at me with shock, it was at that moment when everybody wanted to finally be my friend and apologize for the things I have done and said to me, but I ignored them and kept moving forward. Now I’m in college about to be a businessman and a fire fighter. My biggest goal is to show the world that even with a disability you deserve a spot on The throne!
Its ironic that Rock Lee not being the main character, actually keeps the advice the show is trying to give all along. While Naruto and Sasuke kept getting power ups Lee was the only character who worked hard despite having no real talents.
@Jordan Brendmoen rock Lee wasn't talented even in drunken fist.If any other person drank that sake he would also be like that.Rock Lee has achieved everything with pure hardwork. He got no godgifts like some others.
Yeah, I also feel that way. We only got to see him in the fillers. It’s such a shame, since he really is an awesome character and is also a very relatable one.
You got this, I believe in you like I believe in myself. everytime that little voice speaks up, tell your mind to quiet down its just like that moment the 9 tails tries to intimidate naruto and he just smiles and says „I will take care of you one day“ Its the little steps and consitency that make the difference. No ego no flashiness no arrogance. I love you brother / sister stay strong.
Stay strong. There is a lot of bad stuff in this world. The thing that helped me the most was that, I'm going to try my hardest to make this world better in my own way, so others don't have to think about considering suicide. Its easy to be bad and not care like a lot of people. The strongest care, they do good and stay true to their values. Eventually you'll find the support system, like here. We believe in you.
Madis Mark Rock Lee's story is the ONE that inspired me the most to turn out from the sad nerd who could not even win one competition in his life to the Programming Genius (Hard Worker) who never had any talent and won Bournemouth's IT Olympics a College and then pursued University where I built an application with password encryption! This anime is what made me follow my dream of working and one day becoming a CEO for one of Google's companies and one day I WILL make it! I find myself in Rock Lee, the untalented loser who climbed up from the very bottom where losing was on a daily basis and now competes on equal footing with Ingenious IT programmers around UK. Notice how he is so hard on himself. “Sometimes it seems like the whole thing is pointless. Like I’m a loser and all I will ever be is a loser” that’s why he has the ability to train harder than everyone. He has to do it there is no choice. Be a loser or endure pain and suffering to be the best. Lee picks pain and suffering everyday.

Goku says "When there is a will there is a way".
Honestly, I think even Gaara knew that. That's probably part of the reason he tried to quit the match because he saw Lee was relentless and may have ended up killing him or going too far.
Rock lee didn't get enough screen time and I wish he remained one of the ultimate power houses in the show. He's what naruto is all about. Working hard and never giving up.

Rock Lee's speech about feeling scared that he will never progress and "always be a loser" breaks my heart every time. It's so real, and even though it's a dub Brian Donovan's performance is unmatched in that scene, with the voice cracks and stutters. it's so good.

Fax, might guy achieve the title "strongest taijutsu master" from madara through hardwork and passion. Kakashi IS stronger than Might Guy. However, kakashi's massive power up was given by Obito Uchiha, and he has the most busted MS in my opinion so he got the easy way of gaining power and also his perfect susanoo(kakashi's strongest form) was also from obito and he also got a little bit of 6P power from obito. So in short: Might Guy > Kakashi own strength and power.

The story of Rock Lee is a sad one...because at the end of the day the answer was no. He became a very decent Ninja, but he never beat those who were considered truely talented, not Sasuke, nor Gaara, Nor Naruto. He is so human and so relatable and he teaches us an important lesson, sometimes all the practice in the world is simply not enough to beat those who were "chosen". However Lee's achievements are immeasurable because right behind them, the closest to those stars that were so so unnaturally high was Rock Lee and Rock Lee alone. He might never have beaten them but he was sure as hell the closest to them. Rock Lee, a true inspiration, a true man, and while only an animation and drawing he's also one of the most compelling humans there are.
In the anime world, beating or not beating is mainly in terms of physical strength. To me, he beats most of them with his character and willpower. If those Uchiha stars didn't have the power, who knows where they would end up with all of that emotional baggage :P Rock Lee has the power which could help us the most in real life, so yes, a true inspiration like you said!
Honestly, it's more an issue of the story becoming too ambitious than of Lee not being good enough. We can see with Guy being considered the strongest by Madara that Lee could have matched and even surpassed the others given time, but the story veered way too far into special powers and inner demons and literal interdimendional aliens to tell a compelling story about the everyman becoming a legend. To me, just like with Boruto, the problem is the direction the writing took. I feel like Lee should have surpassed them all, or at least matched up with them, as he was clearly meant to from the start.
You're wrong Woth hard work and persistence, what seems normal can become a special telent. You see, it engraves in the brain which allows you to tap into different domains through that particular skill/developed talent

And I wanted to be the kind of person that my teammates can trust on games.
I always admire this a lot. I am a martial artist myself. My elder brother is my rival in martial arts. He is naturally gifted in jeet kune do. He was taught by Tim tackett, and taki Kamara, former Bruce Lee's students. I remember what he told me when I was a kid, he said that I will never be in his level. I felt like I could never beat him. But when I turned 18 years old. I met a man in a local gym working out. Then he was also training martial arts in a punching bag. I never seen anyone that fast. He was doing traditional thai boxing and wing chun. I was amazed by that. Then I asked him if he ever taught anyone. He said no just always been trained alone. I asked him if he can train me. Because I wanted to get even with my brother. Revenge was on my mind. But he taught me that never to misused against family members. I kept that promise. Then the training was so hard but I never gave up on myself. Then I found out that perseverance is my gift. After 2 years later he trained me wing Chun, he said this will build up more of your defense and quick attacks. So he taught me to combine both arts. Then 2 years later me and my brother got in to it. He never expected how much I improved. Then after that he said no more josh. In that moment. I finally got his respect. He met my master and told him thank you for training my brother. He has gotten better because of you sifu rene. I cried with happiness because he respected my master very much. Now 14 years later. I am proud to say I am now a true martial artist of myself. And now me and my brother train together we are now close.
Thank you for your inspiring story! I'm very interested in martial arts, especially Wing Chun and everything connected to Bruce Lee as well :D I can't even stand on my legs without support at the moment, but dreaming about doing martial arts one day gives me strength (Y) Of course I can always practice martial arts even with a disability, but I also mean the real deal - I'm willing to go that far.
Madis Mark awww thank you so much. I did came along way for believing myself that I can do it without holding back. Even though you might have a disability. It is never too late to learn wing Chun. I truly believe that you can overcome your inner self. Don't let your disability hold your dreams to become a true martial artist. It is all in yourself. Your inner essence is your strength to improvise, adapt, and overcome.

""A dropout will beat a genius through hardwork." I've came back to this video for the last 2 years whenever I needed an extra boost of motivation or when I'd be just down-right sad. ROCK LEE IS THAT PERSON. THE ONE WHO NEVER GIVES UP WITHOUT A FIGHT !!
when he said the winner is gaara it broke my hearth.Despite all his effort lee lost to someone who barely train,he had a tailed beats and was the son of a kazekage.Lee was the son of nobody and didnt even have ninjutsu. But the fact that he lose prove that despite all the effort and sacrifice you can still fail
It doesn’t matter whose son he is his father wanted him dead you think he would see him as a father say that to someone whose father abandoned them or tried to kill them
He never lost he proved his point and then some it takes some with Kage level of power and speed to even attempt to hurt someone like garra think about how many people has garra killed and no one til that point could hurt him now you see lee this nobody that not only fucks up garra but almost kills him
But still no other genin in that room could even TOUCH Gaara. Even the Jonins would fail other than Guy and kakashi. And I think orochimaru was watching too I forgot. The fact Lee almost managed to release shukaku from gaara is already worth the praise.
@@puranix He is though. Well, at the time, he was. The "moving sand thing" is an example of Shukaku's magnet release, which is Shukaku's kekkei genkai. It simply protected gaara from any attacks. It's like a level 1 noob who gets protected by max level friend when they start the game.
@@puranix …no he never trained…Gaara is basically Naruto in that every power he has is either a genetic gift or a animal power up. He arguably works hard in the ninja war arc but that’s cause he’s basically becoming the leader of a nation and has grown as a person.
I think the reason most people find his backstory the worst is because it’s more realistic and relatable. No one in real life can have a monster trapped in them No one can have their entire town killed But the one that mostly happens... Is bullying.
My boyfriend only recently introduced me to Naruto a few months ago, but I'm so disappointed in myself for not looking into it as a kid. I honestly think Lee would've really helped me as a child because I just relate so much to him, and I did even more so when I was younger. I was surrounded by people who were all seemingly born with their talents and were fantastic at so many things, and this included my friends, while all I could do was sit back and watch with nothing to offer. This resulted to me being very negative and hard on myself for really my whole life up until this point. I really think Lee's story would've been a turning point for me back then, but now that I'm finally watching Naruto and seeing Lee overcome his lack of natural talent to become a great ninja, I don't feel so alone anymore somehow. Lee is definitely the most inspirational character I can think of and while my favorite will always be Kakashi, Lee holds a special place in my heart. Thanks for uploading such an inspirational video! Lee deserves more love for sure! :)
Thank you for your inspiring comment. I agree that watching anime like Naruto would definitely help a lot of kids out there. I discovered it when I was about 14 years old and it really helped me stay positive (I had a spinal injury when I was 9 and experienced a lot of bullying at school). That's why it still holds a very important place in my heart and sometimes I find myself watching old clips again. I'm glad you finally discovered it and it helps you!

"sometimes it seems the whole thing is pointless, like I am a loser, and I will always be a loser" dat feels though 😢😫
Nauval El Ghifari that feels? Lord.. when non native English speakers try to speak Ebonics
Nauval El Ghifari it's "Dem feels" by da way
Nauval El Ghifari there are greater levels for you, and you will be able to achieve then. Believe in yourself!
Nauval El Ghifari hey you yeah you go on youtube and search up rsdmax it'll change you
Nauval El Ghifari i can relate to that, he's awesome😢😭
I like that
Guy had his dad. It is his dad, Might Dai, you should've written
Lee, the one who should have been the protagonist of Naruto because he exemplifies hard work beats talent message of the show.
Agree
I wish he had a more important role
Naruto had no talent at all.. He just keep practices and training.... His motivation was to fight sasuke.
When I watch Naruto and see him convince these characters we used to despise into decent people, it makes me feel good inside.
roy kosta Hes the son of the hokage AND has the fox demon in him. He legit is all talent lol

"Victory is not becoming the strongest, but is being able to protect what is most important to you."
And Sasuke just copied his taijutsu 😥

So you didnt win. What a loser life.
Your story can be used in a film bro
You’re story sounds like Sasuke & Itachi
Rock lee is one of the hardest workers in anime history that explains why he’s also the one of the strongest 🔥
i remember being 12 years old, I was so nervous to talk to anyone at my new school. I saw my older brother watching a show which turned out to be naruto. I started it that night after watching it with my brother, when i got to meet rock lee it really made me hooked on this show. I'm 21 now thriving, I wish I could tell my younger self it's all gonna be good. thank you rock lee
Hard work is useless if you don't believe in your self!
thank you Guy sensi!
Lee is so lucky to have Guy. :)
Are you sure it isn't the other way around?
The Shamedarcher i suppose it is mutual :)
Agreed
Morning Wood unfortunately for me I’ve never had a friend who believed in me like guy
Onyx prime keep looking!!

I've came back to this video for the last 2 years whenever I needed an extra boost of motivation or when I'd be just down-right sad.
When ever i see this... I cry every damn time. This video has so much emotions to it
Shoeb Mallick same
Man lee would be the best green lantern
That’s weird I’m watching cinemas sins green lantern on my tv as I type this
True
Op asf
Naruto and Lee have the most willpower out of any characters in the series
If Rock lee was green lantern.... i don't think even superman would have been able to beat him
Perfect example of “only you can stop you” you gotta fight yourself everyday
Just hearing Guy Sensei say “Will you do that for me Lee?” has to be the #1 feeling in the world
I think the reason most people find his backstory the worst is because it’s more realistic and relatable.
No one in real life can have a monster trapped in them
No one can have their entire town killed
But the one that mostly happens...
Is bullying.
A lot of people have a "demon" inside of them that makes them never give up and are alone their whole childhood
Daaaaaaaaaaammmmmnnnnn dude. Nice
Dude you are a genius

It's never too late! Giving up is a decision that only effects you until you get up and try again. Dont ever let anyone tell you can't be a winner.
I feel you hope u fine now
No matter how hard it gets. No matter what the obstacle may Be. Never give up! Never back down! Against all odds we will win… we got this!
