  • In this video I rebuild a very, very rusty cowl. It was probably 50% gone from rust and I use some 18 gauge steel to put it back together. It definitely put my skills to a test! Please follow along by Subscribing and Liking my channel. I'm at the beginning stages of bringing this old Pinto back to life and there will be many more videos regarding this project. Be sure to tap the bell icon to be notified when I upload future videos. As always, I appreciate you subscribing and watching my videos!

I would be happy if I had just 1% of your abilities to do this stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing this project through and see this Pinto come back to life!

Man that turned out really nice, probably better than factory. Im glad you decided to tackle this project instead of scrapping it over a lil work on the cowl because the rest of the car is in really good shape when most people were saying its too far gone over a lil bit of work . These things are getting more and more rare. I can't wait to see more of this pinto project , its going to be a nice car when you get it finished. My pinto is a 79 model and ive got some wood chips ive got to get out before it rust my cowl out that was in it when I bought it that ive inspected it from under the dash and it all looks really good for now but gotta get those wood chips out. Ive gotta put a heater core in it so i can enjoy it in the winter and im in Alabama so I don't have to worry about any salt luckily. It has a fresh built 347 that I built and put in it with a 5 speed and a rear-end out of a mustang that i narrowed and put in it . Its going to be like a resto mod street car that I take to the track on occasion and drive when im off work. You're going get lots of attention in that thing like i do. Im surprised at how many people likes these cars

Hi thanks for the comments. Yeah I'm looking forward to getting the Pinto complete someday, but that is a little ways off. I am going to rebuild the floor boards next because the frame comes back and attaches to them and right now theres not much to connect to. What part of Alabama are you in because I'm in Bama too.

@NINEPOINTFIVEPROJECTS yeah I got lucky and my floors were really nice with a little surface rust on the driver's side so I just sanded it and put rust converter on it and painted it then put some really thick peel and stick sound and heat insulation on all of the floors which will not allow water to touch the floors on the inside again if it were to leak plus it's really cheap, I used it in my roof as well and double layered it before I did the headliner. I'm in Ozark Alabama a lil town between Dothan and Montgomery . It's 20 miles north of Dothan or 80 miles south of Montgomery. Where are you located?, that's pretty cool to have someone that is that close building a pinto . I can tell that you have tinkered with cars a time or 2, that cowl came out really nice

@@79beans347 I'm in a small town called Randolph. I'm about 30 minutes north of Clanton which is north of Montgomery. I'd like to see your Pinto sometime.

I bought a 1974 Maverick. It had rusty cowls and let it rain on my feet. The Internet was young and not too helpful. I sold it. Regrets
