Short answer is no and I won’t work on anything that isn’t going to work & waste my time. Long answer: The new Egg Quarters intro you saw on Twitter a while back broke the character rendering, so I had to cut things out for the in-game version of this intro. It works, but the game dips to 40 FPS due to animation data limits. If any of you guys think proper cutscenes are gonna work, y’all tripping 😂 💀 MSA2 is only going to affect stages & bosses (including mini events aka the in-game cutscenes, like Egg Quarters’ intro). It's too much for one person & this expectation is inconsiderate (I work on mostly everything you see besides the major programming & new terrain models by Hoppy and help from a few others, like Shaddatic). I cannot stress enough that modding is a hobby of mine. I do not live on my computer as this is unhealthy, this is just something I do for fun. I suggest everyone thinks a little different when it comes to more extreme parts of game projects. Stop asking creators to do stuff you _expect_ from them. It’s outright disrespectful to hold anyone to unrealistic expectations. If we’re not doing something, there’s a _very_ good reason for it to not be done. This community needs to reconsider how to approach game/mod development. Most of you don’t understand how this works and that results in outlandish expectations on developers, which I don’t think a lot of people realise this drives people away from doing cool stuff with Sonic. With that said, we’ll see you all at Sonic Hacking Contest 2024 👀
What i love most about adventure is that sonic actually runs, he doesnt just start gliding across the ground. Its like the modern era is afraid of sonic looking a little silly when in actuality thanks to this mod you can see just how cool modern sonic looks when you let him move so abruptly. Even shadow likks like hes actually going fast when he hits his top speeds. Tldr it's cool af to see sonic and shadow actually move fast in their animations
I had the biggest goofiest smile watching you do tricks through city escape. This was my first sonic game and seeing it like this, with expressive animations and an overwhelming amount of charm brings me nothing but pure joy. Keep up the good work

@wav3st3p16 I can’t have those board animations properly animated due to how SA2 handles these and the rail animations. It plays different frames of the animations based off your directional input, hence why the characters look stiff on rails and boards.
i said this before on twitter, but i have to say it agian, this may be my favourite 3d model of sonic ive EVER seen, it perfectly tranlates my past fav (sa2) into a higher quality, youve paid such close attention to detail- it is genuinely gorgeous, and shadow is the same, just so gorgeous, i also love the level tweaks so much! well done to the entire team you all should be very proud
That aggressive bouncing down the stairs on city escape was hilarious! I've done that many times myself on this game to try and quickly get back on the rails. XD
As a young girl who grew up with Sonic Adventure 2, when I heard them say they were remaking it for PS3/Xbox360, this is what I imagined it would be like. You have done what the entire Sonic Team could not do, and made Sonic Adventure 2 look as fantastic as it could have been looking for years, and I am HERE for it. I loved literally everything I saw in this video. New paths to take? New audio? The SOUND MIXING got fixed?! Shadow! With the Bounce Bracelet! I've been wanting something like this for twenty years. And now, you're working on providing it for so many people, just like me. I don't care how long this takes to come to fruition - I am 100% going to play the hell out of this, as soon as it drops.
I just wish the physics on an Adventure remake would be authentic instead of their recent insistence on sticking to the Lost World physics framework Forces and Frontiers (and apparently SonicxShadow Generations) were built off
Glad to see you notched down the speed a lil bit, although it was fun with the faster Sonic & Shadow; it sadly does break the stages and make some annoying to try and get quicker times with due to constantly running off things.
HAHHAHA yeah man it was fun with the cracked physics we had before. This new slightly tweaked SA2 physics plays much better overall and you even get to mess around with slope physics that actually work!
From amping up the speed, to expanding the levels, to give sonic and shadow actually good running animations. This mod is so good, hats off to everyone whose working on it.
@@LateNightHalo no it didn’t, both animations especially Sonic’s are jittery cluttered messes. At a lower speed the running animations look fine enough, but when playing the game they are just blobs of motion.
@@sasookshadow's skating animation in the original makes no sense with the animation speed being tied to how fast ur going. Also sonic leaning down into his run to be more aerodynamic looks better as well.
@@d-swagg9683 I don’t agree to either of those. Shadow’s new skating animation looks so stiff, like his limbs are rods with no knees or elbows. Sonic looks like he just glides on top of the ground now instead of actually running.
i love that the sun sets as you get closer to the end in city escape playing more into the canonical part of the story where the mech fight right after is at night. making it seem like sonic's been running around the city all day avoiding gun troops
I know the biggest obstacles for you guys is probably the cutscenes whenever you get to that, but so far, I’m enjoying the show case and I can’t wait to see more

@SONICX1027 We’re covering gameplay only. Cutscenes won’t be touched. Mini events (in-game cutscenes like boss intros & level intros) are an exception as these are required to play the game 100% with the mod without crashing lol
My GOD, this looks AMAZING! Sonic P-06 suddenly just got some competition in regards to kickass Sonic fan remakes! In particular, I love how you can apparently characters like Shadow for Sonic's stages like Metal Harbor. With how much the game advertised and hyped him up, it always irked me how he probably had the least game presence in SA2, so the idea of being able to play as whichever character in whichever stage so long as they were designed with their playstyle in mind is awesome to see. In any case, again, this all looks kickass and has me eagerly anticipating trying it out come July 4th!
I love that the sky turns darker at the latter half of City Escape. That's one thing I always wanted in a remake for this since it would explain why it suddenly went from day to night at the boss fight after.
In Crazy Gadget y’all did so good showing off Sonic’s impatience. Also I love the model. Looks like something straight out of an anime. Great job. Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing more of these mods.
I always thought it was so nice of the city government to set up ramps/speed boosts and springs specifically for sonic to make use of as he unintentionally tears the city apart through sheer neglect
Turns out I deleted the board animation files 2 years ago 💀 Shaddatic and I were trying to find a fix and then Shad was like “bro why aren’t those files in City Escape’s folder?” 😂
I'm not the kind of guy to complain about stuff, but god damn, that V10 engine sound is out of place. 😂 A cummins diesel sound would fit so much better. Also, i really like the addition of the basketball court. Maybe other side paths would come in the future. Some that don't require glitches to reach. But, that's literally S-tier how well is integrated. Oh, and the 3D grass is absolutely insane. It makes the game look 20 years younger. Omg, the cel-shaded Sonic too. 😮
I was thinking the same lol. Maybe adding the sound of the truck idling in the background as you get closer to that part would be pretty cool touch as well.
The new invincibility jingle is great! Sounds much more in line with the game's soundtrack. If you don't mind me saying, I think the radio comms at the start of City Escape could stand to be a bit quieter.
Thanks! I think I left the radio as it is, as when I made it quieter than this I couldn’t tell what they were saying. Although I could give this another go and see if I can make it a little quieter.
@@TheeMentorDex Appreciate it! In my playthrough, I consistently got startled by how much louder the radio was compared to the music and sfx. If you can't find a change you like, no biggie. Mod looks amazing
at 14:00 you have a choice to either a climb the wall b. kill enemies to get across the gap or c just use the ceiling the options gives the player choice and im all for that. the only thing i don't like about this thing is how the truck sounds like a racecar. also i like how at 3:00 there are enemies and a blockade its a nice touch i always felt that in that section it was entirely too empty with just a spring and a rail and last thing i love about what i see here i love the sonic model in the beginning so very much i just hope that the other characters are playable and look as good.

I won't say I'm a fan of absolutely every design choice made in this, but holy hell is Shadow's running animation so much better than any of the modern Sonic games. It feels like Sega Team's recent Sonic games have tried to make the character's legs and upper body move completely separately of one another. Like Shadow's head just doesn't move despite him basically roller skating. I dunno about you, but generally a person on roller skates trying to go fast will put their whole body and kinda duck into their steps. This makes it look like Shadow is actually moving.
you don't cease to surprise me, dex. Anyways, it's insane seeing how much this project has come along since 2019. Let alone all the breakthroughs made in SA/SA2 modding since then.
Gosh this is absolutely insane!! From the amazing animations during tricks and even whilst in motion during jumps to the movement of the quills while Sonic and Shadow run. I am super impressed with it all! They both look amazingly cool and the line delivery's fantastic! Keep up the great work!
The day when somebody would go crazy enough to make a full-blown open-world mod out of City Escape level will probably be one of the happiest days in my entire life.
I love this so much you don't even know, the model is perfect, looking like a mix of 06 sonic and Adventure 2 and 1, the movement and tweaks to everything are amazing, really all that needs to be modernized now are the stages themselves, keep up the amazing work!
Been loving how this mods been turning out. Although might I suggest switching the city escape track to the Sonic symphony version? I dowmloaded a secondary mod that changes it to that and I feel it works much better (plus it's even more modern)
Not to put anymore stress on the you and the other devs but i think that if you replaced that part in Green Forest where you have to climb up the big tree using the springs i think it would be sick as hell if you were to change it to make so that it's an automated section where the character just runs up the big tree thing instead. It could also serve a cool little reference to the SA2 speedrunning community in which in Green Forest they use a glitch to run up the big tree

The graphical work and gameplay mechanics implemented here are incredible! So much work and passion is clearly here!! But I can't say I'm on board with the new Shadow V/A. He sounds too much like he's emulating Jason Griffith's Shadow and not David Humphrey's. In SA2, Shadow was broody, but also really smooth and cocky. He smirked more often than he scowled. And thus, putting a future Shadow interp over the one that was from SA2 vanilla is not something I agree to. However, agree or not, if emulating Griffith truly was the goal, then they definitely nailed it hands down. Still, as I said, the rest of the work put into here is nothing short of amazing. And all that hard work needs to be congratulated!
I know it was probably just done for comedic effect, but Sonic full one bulldozing those cars always has terrifying implications when you think about it too long. Like how many people did he send into orbit

What do you mean modern sonic glides? His running animation looks fine, if anything the animation here is borrowing from unleashed-frontiers running.

@SONICX1027 They work! It’s possible to reanimate all cutscenes. I did a test called “sonic freaking dies” earlier on the channel!

I love Sonic's model! His got that cartoonish movement that's been missing in the newer games, and his run cycle is awesome!

It feels like Sega Team's recent Sonic games have tried to make the character's legs and upper body move completely separately of one another. Like Shadow's head just doesn't move despite him basically roller skating. I dunno about you, but generally a person on roller skates trying to go fast will put their whole body and kinda duck into their steps.
This makes it look like Shadow is actually moving.

Gosh this is absolutely insane!! From the amazing animations during tricks and even whilst in motion during jumps to the movement of the quills while Sonic and Shadow run. I am super impressed with it all! They both look amazingly cool and the line delivery's fantastic! Keep up the great work!

I love this so much you don't even know, the model is perfect, looking like a mix of 06 sonic and Adventure 2 and 1, the movement and tweaks to everything are amazing, really all that needs to be modernized now are the stages themselves, keep up the amazing work!

This is looking amazing so far. Just a few minor nitpicks like sound mixing and such, but overall, this is looking very well made.
Now this is a mod SA2 deserves, hope the Chao Garden gets a good touch up graphically too

Been loving how this mods been turning out. Although might I suggest switching the city escape track to the Sonic symphony version?
I dowmloaded a secondary mod that changes it to that and I feel it works much better (plus it's even more modern)

Not to put anymore stress on the you and the other devs but i think that if you replaced that part in Green Forest where you have to climb up the big tree using the springs i think it would be sick as hell if you were to change it to make so that it's an automated section where the character just runs up the big tree thing instead. It could also serve a cool little reference to the SA2 speedrunning community in which in Green Forest they use a glitch to run up the big tree

Y’know, I have actually thought of doing this tbh. I can easily make this the second path you can take in the stage. Planning to add more wall runs to City Escape too. I will definitely add this to my to-do list 🤝

SA2 is definitely my favorite design for Sonic. Specifically, when he is fully decked out with all his upgrades. Looks really dope to me.
This genuinely looks more like a full-on remake than a mere mod. Stellar work, man.
The graphical work and gameplay mechanics implemented here are incredible! So much work and passion is clearly here!!
But I can't say I'm on board with the new Shadow V/A. He sounds too much like he's emulating Jason Griffith's Shadow and not David Humphrey's. In SA2, Shadow was broody, but also really smooth and cocky. He smirked more often than he scowled. And thus, putting a future Shadow interp over the one that was from SA2 vanilla is not something I agree to.
However, agree or not, if emulating Griffith truly was the goal, then they definitely nailed it hands down.
Still, as I said, the rest of the work put into here is nothing short of amazing. And all that hard work needs to be congratulated!

Love this sonic model! His running form is phucking dope! You can see him transition to a more aggressive running style by making a fist and going lower. 100% the best
