- *In defense of Warly's Asparagazpacho!* - In my opinion, out of Warly's temperature meals, the only one that would not worth it is the pepper one. This happens because you can reliably stay warm in winter without much issues, and there are really better uses for pepper and dragonfruit as was mentioned in the video. Tho when it comes to the cool down one that goes with asparagus, it's a different story. Since the two seasons before summer are the ones you can grow asparagus on, also cuz tenting to one crop is easier than two for a dish, and asparagus is one of the easiest crops to grow; You can toss 6 seeds in one garden plot, toss 24 rot and talk to it 3 times only (that is if you don't have a fruit fly) and you get them giant easily. The giant asparagus can easily last until late spring, and adding that to the normal asparagus spoilage time, you can reliably overfarm asparagus to get those easy cool downs of the mentioned dish; specially considering it grows in winter, a season that makes the water not drain so rapidly in the farms. As for ice, it is easier than ever to get considering Warly's honey spice and the frozen shark update. One other reason is because it's not as easy to cool down in summer as it is easy to warm up in winter. Whereas you can just burn up a tree in winter at anytime or make a campfire, in summer you don't have many easy to go options. The pieces of clothing that cool you down are not as good as the ones that warm you up; except for eyebrella, but that comes up to you. Another one is the feather fan you craft by killing moose goose, which is the second best option in my opinion. In conclusion, it is a very valid option to get away with summer overheat if you're playing Warly to use said dish. Sometimes you are busy on tenting to crops and it makes more sense to use the stuff that's already there at your benefit when it comes to any aspect of the player status. And for the pepper dragonfruit dish, that one is up to you. It is still sort of useful in late game, for you may already have plenty resources, and just like the asparagus one, it's just one click away from getting your issues with temperature solved; but in general, it's not nearly as good and fluid to farm as the other one.
Very awesome video! I love all those in-depth details, you very organically sprinkled into the showcase, and I love how you present actual ingame examples, to take away the fear of Warlys meal restrictions. The whole video feels so well rounded, like a well thought out story - the focal point being what it feels like, to play as a chef and connoisseur. It's also not too short and not too long for a tutorial video, just perfect. Thumbs way up! ♥
As a warly main myself I find this video very nice knowing that there are people who recognize just how broken warly could be and I like the way you made this video and your jokes and French is pretty funny but in all seriousness great video keep it up and I'm sure you'll reach the sub count you deserve 👍
ive been waiting for this video for a bit, i love warly and seeing your takes on the characters is always great, you never throw characters off the table for not being "meta" or anything (thank you for not treating my boy warly as a swap character)
To me the thing about Warly is as mentioned takes time. Therefore when it comes to joining random servers and surviving a couple of first seasons wouldn't allow him to get all of his benefits to be achieved and utilized so to me for the time being he's basically Winona / Wicker kind of character (wish they all recieve their skill trees asap) when you've prepped resources for their turn in order to craft all needed stuff and in case of Warly you'd probably farm enough as Wormwood to get all crops in abundance and then commence cook off on a Moon Quay in order to bundle things up for years to come. That'd be nice to cover stages of the game for each character like early, mid and late game .And then how these chars benefit your world if you're switching to them via C portal
Wicker has an early game exploration bonus to not need a science machine to craft a hambat and a backpack. And she has some useful early game books too.
Warly can be challenging but once you understand how to go around his weaknesses, it's a power machine A tip for anyone, if you can settle near goats. The horn are important for his special dish that increased the damage output, the meat is super important because meat stews should be the main dish you want to use, and they respawn pretty fast
One fun thing about him is just being able to make those glowy dishes for the ruins rushes. It's also hilarious that you can just feed your beefalo the same dish and have it glow too.
He is so great in both DS and DST. I enjoy sitting in nightmare phase in the ruins, being able to fish eels from ponds and recycle monster meats as well into surf n turf and cook in the protable pot. It's crazy how this synergy ends up working so well
I’m very excited for when Warly eventually gets a skill tree as it’ll surely provide more of a reason to play him and stick with him, because currently there’s no getting around him being a swap character with bundling wraps and polar Bearger bins existing. I LOVE Warly, and I’m really excited to see how they expand him. The skill trees have done a great job of providing new unique playstyles and strategies to every character they’ve touched
it is really nice to have a garden full of answears to every single problem in the constant but so does wicker and I recently swapped but to wicker for my mega base world. Wicker can battle temperature and wetness a little easier but with less quality and she can output honorable damage at will while casting the rain book if need be. Most of the usuall bosses fall victims to the tentacles and ocean fights are rare and easy, because she has better time farming and controlling the events around the world I find warly as a harder version of wickerbottom with slightly better survivability and damage (he is harder because it is more tedious)
welp, the last words kinda highlights why my first experience with Warly was so awful personally. I kinda approached him with the mindset that I would cook on the go, yet I mostly ended up making meatballs and monster tartare and after a while I got so frustrated with my own stats and his aversion to repeated meals and refusal to eat good non-crockpot foods that I just swapped him out at celestial portal. I guess I would try playing him again one day. When I get better at the game, perhaps (that means never)
Use bee queen crown for fuel weaver and fight it when the environment is wet (caves during winter/spring), you will only cycle 2 or 3 times with fuelweaver since you'll be dealing 3x damage, the flight will be over quickly. For the CC sanity you can use the bone helm you got from fuel weaver.
warly struggles to lose sanity? maybe it's because I'm a big fighter who spends a lot of time around bad sanity auras, but I never find it too hard to go insane. often, I stay insane until I can grab me a tam o' shanter because i know I can handle nightmare creatures, and then I have a nice near or full stack of fuel to pull from for a bit. anyways, i don't like salt tbh i suppose i've written it off, could probably save me prep time but I'd rather rush it for salt boxes to keep the goods good.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, as a Warly main, I consider his greatest flaw is how his food buffs spoiling is entirely invalidated with Bundling Wraps or Powdercakes. There really isn't any reason to camp him when anything base Warly without any perks can do, other characters can do better. I want a reason to camp him again. I just don't find a point when I can simply mass cook food over the course of 2 days, wrap it, then switch to someone else to achieve max potential.
