Exactly how i feel! I stopped maining her because of that. Her mechanics are interesting but ultimately removes 3 critical game mechanics: Food, you can just eat monster meat and heal, healing and also travelling. That's like 60% of the game already. No seasonal bee queen hunting for jelly beans, or setting up all sorts of farms etc. Thats why I prefer WW because he's the exact opposite with the most diverse battle kit in the entire game.
Wanda was my first main and there's nothing like being a late-game Wanda with portals all over the map, ruins, atrium, islands and good gear like double bone armors. That said, I did get bored of her for some reason. Maybe the insta-travel took away some of the enjoyment. Old-age Wanda can also still be tough to manage late-game despite having good gear. Overhyped? Sure. Broken and bordeline OP? Yes. It is tricky to talk about Wanda, after what happened with her on first release, but she really broke the game. For once, I don't agree with you dvgmedia that it is majorly the range that elevates the allarming clock. The damage is awful big. 141 damage is disgusting, especially for normal damage characters, and if we consider range.... You didn't tackle in the video that while the community consider her a "glass cannon" she is not. With marble armor, dark armor, dreadstone, ecc... she survives more hits than she should. Hell, you're not even required to stay old. You can be middle age and still do 91 damage, more than a normal Wilson can do. What about the tusk clock? Oh lord that is OP too. With that she stomps on the two exploration characters, Wortox and Walter, and makes the game even more trivial. That thing is a drug. Once you tried the clock, it's hard to go back. For a final note, she could be a more fleshout character, with more creative clocks and a system that incentivize you to change forms constantly, because let's be real, as Wanda you always want to be old. You become middle age or young just for the hp or crafting, nothing else. How awesome would it be to change your forms to obtain particular things via a "death clock" that damages you 20 hp and the healing one?
I got addicted to her damage. Keeping her at deaths door made my experience with her really fun and I find her alarming clock is a kind of stepping stone between regular weapons and the endgame planar ones that other characters lack. I say I love damage but I stay away from Wolfgang because its really boring to get max damage day 1... The progression and constant management of age enhances my experience with her.
to me, wanda’s pretty similar to willow ( swapping out the infinite torch for an infinite weapon ) so thus rlly good for public servers. a thing about both of them is that they basically bypass most enemy mechanics ( range for wanda, and fire panic for willow ) and niether have to worry about sanity. soooo thats something to think about :U altough i think i like wanda more, at least cuz of the backstep watch wich is a pretty cool dodge mechanic!
I really do agree on the fact that she ignores game mechanocs and that she is borring. To be honest she is a reason i dont use "random character" all the time.(its fun to deal with a hand you got dealt.) Even in single player she changes the game to a point , where you no longer play dst . Her abilities are good to the point where you choice is: "use her items or be unbelivably ineficient". I played her a lot at first , being a house variarity support wanda. Then i got a world with 400+ days and there i ve done everything she can. It got to the point where there was no fun what so ever. If you die , your teamates can resurect you with telltale heart with no penalty , you resurect them for free. Her weapon is best in slot.(even now) Her favourite food is taffy , one of the easiest foods to set up , and she doesnt even take damage from it! You never really make a walking cane as wanda. You have watches to craft! Every single item of her's is the best answer to a given problem. Every quirky trait she's got is iether negated by an item of hers , or plays to her advantage. She doesnt really interact with game mechanics , she ignores them. Every playtrhou is same with her. I belive her to be a failiure of game design. She is ultimately borring. Thats my thoughts on her. What are yours? I would love to hear.
Lol nah her with marble suit shuts down so much. Whip range is so stupidly busted that she just removes day to day combat. People say 'Shes glass canon' yea you can also choose to be middle aged and do 2/3 the damage, if youre bad as well as dont have marble suit. I had trouble understanding why people said 'she feels like a modded character' (im dumb) until i was told whip range is so stupid, and makes maxwell + wanda beat every boss with wanda just holding f while max just spams prison and eats cooked cacti.
@@caoinhnamkhanh2795you saing to use Marble armor rly shows that you dont acctually play her. Cuz any Wanda player would much rather use Night Armor as you cant tank much anyway if you dont have a billion watches.
@@caoinhnamkhanh2795 no shit Sherlock. I know fair well that it is more durable but Night Armor doesnt slow you down at all, doesnt drain your sanity as old and i if you ask me its way easier to farm a ton lot of. But use whatever you want if you are so good in the game.
@@jx5b calm down. I was saying your point that i dont play her is wrong. I didnt attack you for the 'no shit sherlock' sarcasm. And when i say tank, i mean tank. You can just set up back step a bunch of times if you want feel smart and dodge, or just literally tank.
That's what happens when you have a character that has their very own arguably strongest weapon in the game, the best mobility potential with enough investment, easy and free way to deal with any poke damage that you'll be dealing with all the time and on top of that the I-frames backstep watch which is basically a day 1 bone armor if you know the timings. Staying near death at 37 hp and lower becoming that much easier when you get access to dreadstone and shadow armor. We can see the trend of shadow enjoyers being strongest characters in the game though pretty fragile without equipment and I'm not even sure if Max or Wanda would have lunar skills because why would they bother? (wormwood being the opposite)
I main her and I'd add that even though you can heal yourself early game it is easy to engage in fights you're going to die because you got overconfident on the healing watch. Its also funny, though
i like playing wanda as recklessly as possible "ah, im at 67 age, but i reeallyy wanna go kill klaus right now" theres usually a 50/50 chance that i beat it without dying
8:20 "She doesn't interact with the world or with other characters" Well, even if you say that it kinda unironically fits her character. She doesn't really care about the anything If it isn't useful to her. She doesn't appear in even a single animated shorts since her debut because she's busy doing something else. (maybe we'll get to see in the future) And probably also because having Wanda in a short is probably hard to implement maybe because of her complex nature or most likely because almost every animated shorts have survivors somewhat struggling or fighting something. Having Wanda struggling is not in her nature she's more of like a "Come on, I don't have all day" character and she probably encountered it before just like she somewhat encountered the survivors before. (if her time travel abilities theories are true) What I can think of is Wanda is probably a place holder for lore dumps in the future we're not getting any info yet. Probably in the future. And lastly. Just wait for her skilltree maybe Klei will drop some extra lore and maybe fix all the problems you listed for her. Like adding planar damage to her alarming clock? Since there're alot of people complaining and getting frustrated getting damage blocked by planar creatures post CC and FW.
Imagine if she got a skilltree with the ability to stop time of enemies making giving you some breathing room to heal but to balance this with shadow prison make it so that when the enemy that got zawarudo'd invincible so it doesn't get over"shadowed" by one another. but hey who knows what klei will add.
@@dinoaurus1 Problems are supposed to be fixed and the problem with her is not, that she's too strong but everyone else is better in terms of variety of utilities and playstyles. Playing Wanda feels like a chore it forces you to look for the archives if you want extra watches early get Walruses every 3 days and litterally pray for rng that you get a 3 walrus biome. I'm not saying that it should be made easier but less frustrating idk how but just do it. Wheras Wicker could go for Lunar grimore but she doesn't have to. The problem isn't her damage output. But it's about not getting bored or frustated while playing as her. But hey, some people only like Ungabunga big numbers.
Wanda seeing the world with different lenses isn't inherently bad, most of the other characters already interact with the world in the same way, with the same objectives in mind, i think characters like wanda wich changes the way you see things is a nice change of pace, she makes some things easier and trivial while other things a death sentence if left unchecked, i like playing her when i'm feeling into this kind of playstyle as a wandering boss killer, and if i want to just get into the base caring part of the game i just play any other character
I main wanda as support as i dont need much to survive I can bring people back and defend myself so yeah I like to stay at base to garden if everyone else is busy if we dont need 1 certain resource
I’ve played with Island Adventures on a dedicated server. There are four server shards. Being able to go from the main base at the Altar of Snackrifice to a Pseudoscience Station in the ruins at the click of a button and in a moment’s notice, is just too good to pass up on. I find Wanda boring, I really wish the backtrek watch had a more expensive lategame version that anyone could access. Like upgrading existing Lazy Deserters with lunar/shadow magic.
I like her for ruin raids cause she cuts down on enemies fast, paired with sugar spiced foods she'll just tumble down ruins fast. Still though, never felt like a safe option for it. She's really good damage support and support for the team in mind than being on her own. I don't play her all the time cause I prefer Willow or Maxwell for my works, but she does do fine against many bosses and much of the world to destroy when i wanna mess around with as. Generally balanced character, I'd still rather use rider beefalo instead of her backtrek watches.

wanda is one of my least favorite characters persanility-wise, but i main her because the backtrek watch. i wish klei gave us moveable wormholes or something bc I'm tired of wanda but i quickly miss the quick travel if i play any other char
I like her personality, yea most quotes are boring but then you get one thats fantastical (like the wes balloon hat "id look silly in that, let me thy it) i like the fact that she dosent act like her age (not in a childish way but more having fun like kid, which that trait dosent have any characters besides her (the closest is walter but hes more of a adventurios kid with puns))
Her personality and her playtyle are the same Not wanting to waste time on boring stuff (killing pigmen, killing spiders, walking) Also any character dosent care about hunger since food is so easy to get
I hope the skill tree will make her more interesting (and nerf some of her aspects to ballance it out hopefully, but considering what happened to Wigfrid, we are probably going to recieve just buffs making her hella OP)
I’d say the worst RNG in dst is the krampus sack. You have to kill a ton of innocent mobs just for a 1% chance to get it. Making picking wickerbottom/maxwell the only viable way to get it and for what, 6 more inventory slots? That’s a grind with barely any justification
@@tallkids-spencerhuyck179 Klaus exists with a 10% chance for a sack every 70 days. Then there's gloomer who can be killed every night after assembling celestial altars for 4×1% chance after day 100. And let me assure you, 6 inventory slots IS a big deal.
@@PanJakubPuchaty but RNG is inconsistent and there will be times like recently I used the wicker farm for 5 in game days for just one. I had to repeat that another 5 times before I could get a sack that I could call mine. I get that 6 inventory slots is great but why must I spend an entire in game season just killing birds? And assuming you get unlucky with klaus you’ll be waiting more than 10 in game years just to get one which is many times more tedious. Also moonstorms are from an already tedious quest line which the crab king fight goes without saying. And as of editing this comment you deleted your reply which doesn’t make sense if you still stand by what you said
@@tallkids-spencerhuyck179 I did not delete it, they get deleted automatically for some reason. Still hadn't recieved help from YT despite writing an email. Anyway, I think the problem is that you treat the krampus sack as a walking cane, you're doing all you can just to obtain it and abandon runs if you don't succeed. Krampus sack doesn't work like that. It's a rare treat and it's not essential for gameplay (unlike the walking cane) but really useful if you manage to get one.
I thing that wanda should get nerf to alarmimg clock damage (using every other weapon before rifts is unvalueble) Or she should lose her Age when using clocks (alarming one too)
At the time when Wanda came out, every single watch of hers would be completely breaking some mechanics of the game, and I remember people use to call dst pay to win because of wortox…
idk if your video writing type has changes but these videos got me hyped to play those characters and now they dont (since the wx 78 video) but thats only 2 videos so i may speak to fast
I honestly feel it myself too lol. Its kind of hard to write something interesting on wx and wand since they are mostly simple in their means. The earlier characters are seen as underrated. And have alot more to them than most people give credit. I ask myself what can i talk about that hasn't already been said about most of these characters. Wx is kind of just a Make it yourself type of character. Wanda is a bit one dimensional and her main thing is about traveling ignoring stats and her own personal weapon. LIke walter and wormwood do a much better job at ignoring a stat. and they have More than just crafts and a unique health system. the other characters were more interesting and unique than wx and wanda.
For me, I usually pick Wanda for the risk and reward. Big damage and longer range while at the same time being a toe stub away from death is pretty thrilling, alongside her unique mobility/dodging options... That is until the late game. Planar damage DESTROYS Wanda and, since the alarming clock lacks planar damage, you'll need a shadow reaper, which forces you to get up close and personal. With planar damage, Wanda is less of a toe stub away from dying and more like a single grain of sand colliding with her being life or death. Klei'll probably give the alarming clock a planar upgrade in her skill tree, but the fact still remains that she's a lot more vulnerable to planar.
bro I personally think that Wanda is very boring because, for example, when you wanna fight a boss - with a normal character you will prepare supplies for it, but with Wanda - you already have an unlimited weapon, unlimited healing and easy armor (shadow)
boring? Nah, the game itself is boring. And she juuuust takes care of that but i agree, solo wanda is depressing. it is much viable and more fun to carry the team of fools that cannot win any fight without your interference
Wanda is a perfect exsample why klei should not fix cheeses. They always do a half assed job without trying to put thought into it. Walrus ai is not fair, even tho he is slower than players you can't hit him as normal character because he is programmed to run in the opposite direction of the chaser, meaning he kites like a madman. Wanda dosen't care, she kills him before he even starts running, and if she dosen't her range will easily catch him. Klaus fix is pointless wanda outranges him, but now we have 1 less strategy. I want to use his sack to dodge him some times whats the issue? Im mainly sad because I'd enrage klaus when he gets low because i loved the thrill of trying to dodge his jump with a sack which isnt as simple since his massive speed makes him slippery
Yes it's fun for the person playing a powerful 'support' character in a multiplayer setting 'helping' others with your overtuned abilities. Except you're actually doing to others what you do to yourself in singleplayer; making the game boring and its challenges trivial. No one wants to play survival mode with someone in creative.
Wanda is clearly some persons OP self insert, and the first time I saw it, I assumed it was a dedicated autist's mod character. It is extremely sad and depressing to see the people around me not pick up on that.
I like how Wormwood, Wurt, and Wortox are always shown together as a trio. I wonder how all three of them would work with one another for a video.
+Wendy
Wurt gives easy access to efficient military and work forces, along with providing Wortox with a few extra souls during combat
Wormwood enables Wurt to do her job even easier, while also making enough food for Wortox to ignore his natural debuff easily, not to mention the easy access to Dark Swords (which both Wortox and Wormwood can easily farm the Nightmare Fuel for) and his own offensive prowess
Wortox is the utility, enabling his teammates to be even more aggressive with no consequences, along with utilizing his abilities for an even more efficient travel to visit key location for progress.
This isn't really in depth, but they work pretty damn well together, the only thing that would require any work is gathering grass and twigs every few days.

0:40 *I see what you did there*
0:14 Totally agree, but it’s also because dst started implementing all the easy features… like infinite light, movable reeds, easy AG and etc
Easy light was added in the caves update you can go to the caves for 2 minutes and get a season worth of light
@@raulfake wdym? Toad? Easy light is a constant moonlight every night and sanity neglect… imho

I switch between mains now but she's no longer one of them. I highly prefer Wolfgang if I wanna go the boss route or even Wormwood.
¡nunca tengo el tiempo para llegar a invierno en multijugador!, asique me quedo sin poder usar el reloj teletransportador y no poder teletransportar a los demás...
Overhyped?
In multiplayer wanda can be revived with telltale heart without penalty since she doesn't have HP bar.
to me, wanda’s pretty similar to willow ( swapping out the infinite torch for an infinite weapon ) so thus rlly good for public servers. a thing about both of them is that they basically bypass most enemy mechanics ( range for wanda, and fire panic for willow ) and niether have to worry about sanity. soooo thats something to think about :U altough i think i like wanda more, at least cuz of the backstep watch wich is a pretty cool dodge mechanic!
I main her and what i enjoy the most about the character is the adrenaline rush of being constantly on the verge of dying.
I really do agree on the fact that she ignores game mechanocs and that she is borring.
To be honest she is a reason i dont use "random character" all the time.(its fun to deal with a hand you got dealt.)
Even in single player she changes the game to a point , where you no longer play dst .
Her weapon is best in slot.(even now)
Her favourite food is taffy , one of the easiest foods to set up , and she doesnt even take damage from it!
I would love to hear.
as I like to say, she's wolfgang but requires a brain to play as.
@@jx5b yea. Ive played her for 500 hoursin my 5.7k hours. Anyway, Marble suit is a lot more durable bruh
5:00 Cat of 3 tails makes all the enemies on screen constantly lose agro.
175 uses, with 27.2 dmg, and 25% chance on mobs/20% chance on monsters, while also requires a damn tentacle spot. Why is this thing so bad 💀
I like the tail as a fun support weapon is almost like the bat bat you are not using it for your main damage.
@@DVGMedia1 batbat is unironically so fun and good it heals so fast and has decent dmg for what it does
That's what happens when you have a character that has their very own arguably strongest weapon in the game, the best mobility potential with enough investment, easy and free way to deal with any poke damage that you'll be dealing with all the time and on top of that the I-frames backstep watch which is basically a day 1 bone armor if you know the timings.
Its also funny, though
i like playing wanda as recklessly as possible
"ah, im at 67 age, but i reeallyy wanna go kill klaus right now"
theres usually a 50/50 chance that i beat it without dying
I think she was made for boss rushes since most things you talk about dont apply in boss rushed (besides klaus but any character can make a whip)
i wish i had friends that actually wanted to play dst to play wanda
8:20 "She doesn't interact with the world or with other characters"
Well, even if you say that it kinda unironically fits her character.
That's exactly why I said it lol
Your explanation fits my thought process exactly
@@DVGMedia1 Still love your vids btw
@@dinoaurus1 Bro, if you don't want problems to be fixed just play Payday3 they are putting bandaids over a leaking dam.
3:01 So you could say she's weak to damage... over time?
"it's time to talk about wanda" heh, i see what you did there!
About not interacting with the world like other characters it feels kinda right id you look how she's a crack in this whole timeline
Wanda is so stupidly overpowered. She's one of my three mains and I can't believe how she never got nerfed lmao.
Ehh, DST was always an unbalanced game. So does it matter that she is overpowered?
@@wauchi1895 nope, not really. But it's funny how she can basically ignore half of the game's fights.
I main wanda as support as i dont need much to survive
I can bring people back and defend myself so yeah
I like to stay at base to garden if everyone else is busy if we dont need 1 certain resource
I played her a lot before Maxwell’s rework. I’m a huge fan of both of their shadow magic stuff. I just like Maxwell’s stuff more
I’ve played with Island Adventures on a dedicated server.
I main wanda, and backstep watch simple makes you almost invencible, normally i dont even take damage bc of him, poor dragon fly normally die on day 8-12
I like her for ruin raids cause she cuts down on enemies fast, paired with sugar spiced foods she'll just tumble down ruins fast.
Thanks for the explanation about Wanda, I found it really interesting. I've never played Wanda, but I'm kind of tempted to, just for the experience.
What mod are you using to show the range of enemies?

i agree. i mostly play solo and i find wanda just. SO BORING solo. other then that i think its mostly up to ones own interpetation on how strong she is
wanda is one of my least favorite characters persanility-wise, but i main her because the backtrek watch. i wish klei gave us moveable wormholes or something bc I'm tired of wanda but i quickly miss the quick travel if i play any other char
Honestly, her personality is half the reason I play her, the sarcasm is just funny
Her personality and her playtyle are the same
Not wanting to waste time on boring stuff (killing pigmen, killing spiders, walking)
Also any character dosent care about hunger since food is so easy to get
I hope the skill tree will make her more interesting (and nerf some of her aspects to ballance it out hopefully, but considering what happened to Wigfrid, we are probably going to recieve just buffs making her hella OP)
7:02 I literally got 0 tusks from around 8 walruses once. And 2 shanters iirc. DST loves to troll players.
I thing that wanda should get nerf to alarmimg clock damage (using every other weapon before rifts is unvalueble) Or she should lose her Age when using clocks (alarming one too)
wait WAIT WAIT WDYM 3:50 I didnt know this?!
Yeah its the same with any character that spawns with items. Spawning at the portal will give you whatever starting items.
i really love your content, keep on keepin on
At the time when Wanda came out, every single watch of hers would be completely breaking some mechanics of the game, and I remember people use to call dst pay to win because of wortox…
I only like her when I'm on a team
idk if your video writing type has changes but these videos got me hyped to play those characters and now they dont (since the wx 78 video) but thats only 2 videos so i may speak to fast
I think is also a part of how much fun I have with the character. Wx was cool on the stats but I only ended up using the thermals and speed
Klei'll probably give the alarming clock a planar upgrade in her skill tree, but the fact still remains that she's a lot more vulnerable to planar.
bro I personally think that Wanda is very boring because, for example, when you wanna fight a boss - with a normal character you will prepare supplies for it, but with Wanda - you already have an unlimited weapon, unlimited healing and easy armor (shadow)
thank u
Wanda taxi
very nice girl guy
boring? Nah, the game itself is boring. And she juuuust takes care of that
but i agree, solo wanda is depressing. it is much viable and more fun to carry the team of fools that cannot win any fight without your interference
Im mainly sad because I'd enrage klaus when he gets low because i loved the thrill of trying to dodge his jump with a sack which isnt as simple since his massive speed makes him slippery
wahhhh
I hope there is a mod that lets you reduce her age down to 8.
