Investing in oldschool runescape is one of the best ways to make a lot of money, or lose a lot depending on your luck and skill. Today I thought it would be fun to highlight some of the best and most unfortunate investments in osrs.
I have compiled some of my favorites public investments that I have seen people attempt throughout the last few years. How profitable were these investments and why did they make them?

The multiplier of staff in combination with the imbued ring would be an insane bonus. They never quite went up and I sold them to buy a staff. Today they are nearly worth 1m each. Was buying them roughly around 200k ea
i was flipping shield left halves and sold a few 100 of them the day before the achievement diary update. the next day, they were selling for 750k

I bought 30 abyssal daggers for 2.5m each as soon as the spec improvement poll passed. I sold 20 of them immediately on the day the update came out for 4.5m each. Sadly, for some reason the price dropped after the initial rush and no one wanted the last 10. I just left them in and randomly they all sold over one night for 4.5m. No idea why since the GE price was 3m when they sold.

I bet the demand rebounded once more people unlocked the upgrade and starting showing it on RUclips
As the flipper runelite plugin has showed me, GE price doesn't matter that much when it comes to buying or selling things all too often. For one, people with expendable gold or no patience will pay extra to have the item immediately. 2, the actual prices of items fluctuate way faster and often than the GE price updates.

this past December i killed about 10,000 gargoyles to get 99 strength. got about 55 granite mauls doing it. i held onto them as a trophy since they were about 60k-70k each and stopped playing the game. I just started playing again like a week ago and noticed they were at nearly 200k each and just sold them all.
I started collecting uncut opals in 2016 bought for 26gp each ended up with about a 5m stack of them started selling them when they reached 600gp last year

Bought a Bgs just before they buffed it. Flipped a bunch of bgs that day and bought a dhcb for the fashionscape. They then buffed the dhcb and changed the look ruining my fashionscape but making me 100m.
Remember the Zulrah teleport guy? That was the biggest failed investment of all time, but someone else bought them, meaning he made like idk 20b+?

I'm not super rich (~700m bank), but I did pretty well on trouver parchments pre wildy boss update.
They were buying for 900k and selling for ~1150k after the update. Not too crazy but I bought like 100 so it was some ez monies.
Did poorly on the thammaron's sceptre though, which I thought would become much more valuable.
Get your shoulder parrots and pirate hats now before sailing skill comes out. Those two will get expensive quick

I invested in 50 scythes when they hit their all time low relatively recently, still have the investment going, gonna sell when dt2 releases.
I wish I had documented it but I had no reason to really. I was trying to learn zulrah years ago, got hacked and cleaned and left the game for a while. Came back and my zulrah teleports were worth whatever stupid price it was and I had more money than I had before getting cleaned haha
I had 61k dragon knives in my bank when BH came out. I had paid about 3k each or so and sold for 11k each.
I have over 200 Dragonfire shield. It's a long term investment in case the new dragon boss comes out. VULCU!
That's smart I was guna buy 2b worth of them too but I went with the bowfa I got 20 of them for 97m each

i once bought 10 000 crystal seeds back when the cost less than 7.5k each before Songs of the elves, fast fowards and i sold most of them for around 35k each and they later on sky rocket to around 320k+ after some changes were made to them..
Over 3 years I made a investment like this. Bought about 9m jugs of water for an average of 12 each and ended up selling em for 90 each. About 700m profit.
What happened to the Flipping to Max Set series?
I really do wish Torag’s hammers got a buff. Def needs it and I would love to use that weapon more. I think it’s such a cool weapon. What are your thoughts on it guys?
they are cool af but it is what it is
I don't think it makes much sense to buff the hammers since all the barrows melee weapons are bad. Like Torag Hammers are pretty much same stats as Verac's Flail, just more attack and no prayer. It is the set effects that make the other weapons relevant.
I wouldn't be opposed to seeing the hammer reworked to double hit, but I don't think they should be much more viable of a weapon on their own than they are now. The set effect is more the place that could do with a rework/buff.
Would like to see a small buff to make them somewhat relevant and a decent niche item for certain content.

Was GE different when he purchased the oak logs? Now a days you need to log in to your account once every week or the GE offer goes inactive, if the account goes inactive.

I used to just read game updates buy the items sell when the new content comes in, I remember buying 100m ether for 6.6b sold it for 15.8b sat on them about 8 months, rev tele wasn't anything until one game update moving it made bonk on these.

This is how I play the game now a days. I like watching the videos and keeping up with the updates but have no time to play my biggest investment was Pharos scepters at 1.6-2m when they were heavily botted up to 5m when raids 3 was announced to be in the desert. It rivals and beats the profits on a few of these. Great video.
I bought 9000 tentacles for 50k each, and sold them off a few days before the trident update, after the stsff update a tent was 1m :(
Now that dude with the oak logs can buy over 90 bonds. Never have to pay for membership and with how bonds just keep getting higher and higher the dude has legit created a Runescape trust fund for himself lol
I just purchased a few spectral spirit shields for the new DT2 update. Currently Cerberus is the only boss with the prayer draining mechanic, and IF they did add something similar to one of the 4 new bosses it could spike quite a bit. Logic behind it is one of the 4 might have a new prayer draining ability such as a more powerful version of soul split or something. Im assuming all 4 bosses will have different mechanics
theres plenty of other bosses with pray drain, but its not worth to use the spectral. nex, barrows, dks are some examples. its probably useful at nex in bigger teams, nobody with a spectral is doing barrows, and you can maybe use it at dks but ely is better still if u wanna use a shield

For a new player these are just imaginary sums, I can hardly scrape together a single million and as soon as I do, I buy items to aid my progression.

I bought roughly 60,000 zulrah teles at the end of 2015 for like 900gp ea, ended up selling them for around 2kea when they started to rise after the update thinking I did well by doubling my money… I ended up quitting a few weeks after and came back a year later only to find they were now 40kea…. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

Ranars are 15k rn they were almost 80k last summer… im sure theyll go up again and i have 7 k of them so far at arund 15-16k

I did this with maple logs, they where 7 gp per and now sitting at 14 so doubled my money and had around 300k logs.......
I do stuff like this. Items thats are under 100gp often drop to 10gp. A week or two ago got alots of raw chickens for 10gp and sold for 60.
i used to do these investments on pvm titems in the past, but no longer. i have no confidence in ingame economy right now. Combined with my hoarding Ive lost around 4b gold in 2 years

@@bernardomotard yeah on release zulrah dropped 25 at a time, a guy sold 400k for like 100gp each or something. Then they reduced the drop from 25 at a time to 1, price shot up to nearly 50k and that guy lost a lot of potential money lmao
I bought 200 Tham Scepter for 1.2m, last month they shot up to 2.4ish mil each and I dumped them all for about a 210m profit.
Their price still hasn't recovered, sorry not sorry.

Once you buy they become untradable. To make them tradeable again you have to pay a tax around 10%... I buyed one for 9m to resell and got a 1m tax surprise.
