I combined it with the Wayne Goss foundation. It almost survived a heat index of 108 down here in South Texas. It didn’t do well as an eye primer, though.
Listennnnn DM's yummy serum primer is LIFFFFEEEEE!!! For everyday, I wear it alone and highlight with Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish: Highlighter + Balm Duo in Bronze. I share a similar view about not covering up my scars too much, but i also invest in my skincare regimen so that helps. I'm still trying to figure out my shade in the Yummy skin foundation though. I've tried 19G, 17W and 16N. 17W seems to be a closest match. The finish is phenomenal- not too matte and dewy enough to make skin look healthy. Love to see what her balms look like on you. I think the balm is right up my alley. Love this product!!! DM Beauty is phenomenal.

Hey Alicia 🤗 I’ve been using the balm powder shade 5 as eye primer and I’ve been enjoying. I have dry eye lids many times eye primers are overly drying and looks textured. So I moisturize, but then it breaks down the primer and creases. I found this balm over my eye cream covers discoloration, gives my lids a matte finish with very little creasing and my eyelid texture is blurred. I want 1 more in shade 4 to lighten my eye area🌸
Thank you so much Alicia for your review You always do such a great job. I watched other reviews but others seem to ve confused on how to use it but I know I can trust you to go over everything and tell us exactly how to work a product in to our routines
It looks like a great product! I love how you explained everything. It was hilarious when you started with "maybe some mascara" and then got on a roll till the gloss 😁.
I'm sold! It looks AMAZING on you! As a VERY oily skin girl, I haven't tried any of her complexion products. I think I will get 2 shades, the universal shade and one for a foundation. I wonder if I can use the universal shade almost like the tatcha silk canvas primer. Plus I want to put this to the test in the Texas heat. I'll keep you posted.
Wow, I thought the 5 will be too dark for you. It’s matched you perfectly! I loved your review. I wasn’t sure if I should get the universal or pigments powder but with your review, I’ll head straight for the pigments. Thank you. Your reviews are so informative🥰🥰🥰
Reminds me of a similar product that Mally Beauty did that I used to buy about 10 years ago (yes I used to buy from QVC!) It was a balm that dried to a powder and worked quite well for me for a while but definitely had a learning curve with application. I think it also used to dry out a bit in the compact. It'll be interesting to see if DM's stays 'fresh' over time.
I didn’t know this existed! I don’t like wearing makeup because I always feel cakey and it looks overdone, but I will definitely try this, because I’m looking for something that just improves what I already look like, but doesn’t cover me up. I’m ok with blemishes showing through, so this sounds perfect. Thank you!!!!
I ordered this and can't wait to try this. It honestly looks like "your skin but better" -- who doesn't want that, right? Even the wear test it still looks amazing. I live outside of Atlanta and curious how it will hold up with the high heat/humidity combination. I guess I'm about to find out.
When using the universal as a primer, does the foundation last longer or do you use for more coverage? May I ask what type of foundation you use, i.e. cream, liquid?
@@jewelnabq01 of course! I used the universal for primer with liquid foundation. (I will sometimes use shade 9 on its own as foundation). Since I have oily skin, the product works well because it definitely keeps me from getting super oily throughout the day. What I understand is that the Upsalite in the product is one that helps with oiliness. It’s almost like it gets better throughout the day. I think because I don’t try as oily, then my makeup lasts longer. And you honestly only need a little bit, like most of Danessa’s products. Hope that helps a bit!
I just tried this product today for the first time and i too am in LOVE. i use Dm yummy skin foundation in shade 7n and it's perfect when I'm feeling glowy. I have very oily skin and used shade 3 today in the balm and maaaaan it withstood setting up the kids kiddie pool in 80 plus degree heat, cooking dinner, folding clothes putting the kids to bed etc etc. New favorite product easily
That Yummy Skin foundation is excellent for a date night sexy sleek skin makeup look😍 I apply mine with the Wayne Goss #1 foundation brush. You're going to love it when you can tolerate it. The Balm Blurring powder is over the top with excellence in a product as well!!!👍🏾👍🏾
This is definitely going on my wishlist to try, thank you for sharing your thoughts Alicia!! 👏👏 My face is very oily 24/7-365 so I'll be very interested to see how this performs on me (both in the short-term and long-term). As always thanks for updating us on your thoughts about the fragrance as well; very useful to know. I think I'll be ok with the ginger root oil, but I have noticed that squalane can really make my skin freak out, so this will be interesting as it's in the top 6 ingredients lol.
Hi Alicia, do you happen to know your MAC foundation shade? This looks so innovation and perfect for oily skin people who want a light coverage no makeup look. I will definitely order it
"Because I can ". YES YOU CAN, haha! Love love love this whole look! Perfectly polished but understated and fresh without being dewy. I love to have a nice dew going but with summer quickly approaching my skin will bring the dewy look naturally... from sweat! xD
So glad to see your review! You are always so thoughtful and thorough! I was really excited about this product. Seems innovative, new, fresh, exciting! I wasn't able to get it to work for me, unfortunately. My expectations were not necessarily that it would perform flawlessly as a primer, foundation, and powder all at once (too good to be true), but I don't think it really functioned well as any of those things separately for me either. As a primer, it blurs, but because of that, I just felt it settled as a film over my skin, instead of melting in. Reminded me of a cross between the Elf Putty Primer and a Benefit Porefessional, with oigmet swirled in. It sets in the way that it dries to a powdery finish, but it just didn't stay on my skin. It remained flexible, which can be a good thing in some instances, but I found it to transfer, melt away, mix in with my oils and create a pastey mucky mess. Buildable coverage is nice to have because of the versatility, but I didn't find this to be long lasting, natural, or shine controlling at all. I was hoping for this to be the J.Lo triple threat of base products, but it just wasn't any of those things for me. Extra points for innovation though, definitely a thoughtful release.
@@aliciaarcher I think we are all always in search of that miracle complexion product, I'm willing to try a lot of things. Typically I wait for a review (I love your base product and brush reviews!), but I was just too excited to wait on this release! Unfortunately it doesn't work as a touch up product, and it's not useful as a "powder" product either, so I just didn't find it successful in any application. I've been finding success with the Maybelline Perfector 4-in1, which is really odd because it's not a brand or product type I gravitate towards, typically. Also the Essence Tinted Primer. Both have a moussey sort of texture, a light tint, serious blurring qualities, and transform to a bit of a velvety texture on the skin. I was surprised by them both on my skin that leans toward the oily side in the hot humid summer months. I've also been getting good use out of a couple of cushion foundations from Yesstyle - the PeriPeri Ink Matte Blur, and the Laneige Matte Cushion are both great for on the go touchups. I don't usually prefer a super matte finish, only because I think it looks heavy and gunky once my oils mix in, but all of these products seem to do well. Even the Wet N Wild Impossible Primer looks good with zero makeup on top just to smooth, slightly mattify, and perfect texture on no makeup days. Not everyone product is going to be for everyone. I think I set realistic expectations so if something doesn't work for me, I just look at it like "onto the next!" Thanks for your review. Even though the product didn't work for me, there was a lot of other useful info in your video. I'm going to check out the Live IG events from Danessa Myricks to learn some new tips and tricks for some of the other products I have from her brand!
Hey Alicia thanks again for a detailed description of Denessas powder foundation. I will be trying to find my shade and I'll put it to the test in my cycling session. Stay healthy, be yourself, spread beauty wherever you go.
I am usually a full coverage girl but I like the idea of a no make-up make-up look. Unfortunately tinted moisturizers have just left me disappointed. Cc creams are ok but...well, I am still looking. I came across your video today and this could be my answer. This looked great on you & seemed like it would be a good, relaxed weekend kind of option. Thank you for your reviews Alicia, they always help so much!! 😉❤️
I purchased the balm powder and I love it. I've been eyeing the bk 101 forever and I paused your video and finally purchased it. It is on sale for mothers day! YAY! Thanks for the video.
This is a great video!! I really wanted to see what you’d make of this product. It’s funny but I’ve been unexpectedly loving the L’Oréal 4-in-1 tinted balm infused with serum and now I’m very interested in laying out the cash and seeing how this product compares.
New subscriber! Thank you so much Alicia! I’m so glad that I came across your channel discussing this product. I’m not familiar with this line. You speak very intelligently about different products and I appreciate it. I’ve never heard of Danessa Myricks until a few days ago when I placed a Sephora order and I’m going to receive a trial size Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder in the Universal shade. I also needed to see what different makeup products look like on someone with my similar skin tone which is helpful.
What is upslight technology? I can’t keep up. Lol Not sure my dry mature skin would like this but it sounds intriguing. I can’t wait for what else Danessa Myricks comes out with. She dabbles with innovation and I like that.
🤣 I believe it’s an ingredient that acts as mini “vacuums” that tackle excess oil and sweat. A lot of “blotting” type products rely on this formula to be more lightweight in nature without feeling heavy. Like older powders felt, in order to achieve the same shine free finish. It might just feel ok on dry skin! Some ppl have said that as long as they prep well, the fishing is not over drying 👍🏽
I literally run to click on your video when you’re reviewing and elaborating on a product! Your opinion and knowledge of the things you feature on your channel is remarkable 🌸💖
I bought the universal because I was scared of the shades lol. I wore it yesterday as a primer and was highly, highly impressed! I used it with pat’s foundation and it looked smoother. Also my oils didn’t break through like usual. This stuff is just like Linda’s blotting powder because of the upsalite. I’m pretty much combo and I didn’t find this balm to be drying at all.
Ordered as I watched this video 😩🙌💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻😅🥰 since covid & with the constant mask wearing (I work in a NYC hospital emergency room) I don’t wear foundation .. I wear powder foundation & even skip concealer … I’ve recently been wearing even less with only wearing tinted moisturizer … luckily I have good skin & minimal panda eyes I can get away with less … so this product has my name all over it ! I also just ordered the yummy skin primer as I have dry skin .. for the Sephora sale I also picked up her primer oil 💃🏻🥰 DM has quickly become one of my most fave brands xoxo excited to try it all !
This product sounds perfect for our horribly hot, humid Arizona monsoon season! Not sure what shade to go for, though. Either 4 or 5, I'm guessing? As I am MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing WP Foundation shade NW30-35, depending on time of year?
Nice I didn’t realize that LH cosmetics also had a product with upsalite. I’ll try it. Unfortunately, due to one of the ingredients I can’t try the DM BBpowder, but I’m here for your review 😆
Wow looks amazing!!! I need to try, I like to show all my freckles now.. so I think I don't need full coverage everyday anymore and I think this is perfect for me
Love this product even with my dry/normal skin. The Saie glow and hers both are amazing underneath and do balance out for the dryness. Random question though, the maple magnetic over the singe looks gorgeous but I don’t know where to get the maple magnetic (or ho even makes it lol). Can you let me know?
I just ordered two shades of this product. I need to figure which one is my match. I am so excited for this type of product, it so versatile. Thank you for your review.
Thanks for the detail (& entertaining) review. I’m leaving your channel now & going straight to Sephora’s app to purchase. Thanks again, you helped me pull the trigger!
I used #6 over top of Rose Inc. 80 and it looked amazing. A really nice soft glow and plump-looking skin with a bronze summer hue. I’m seriously impressed. I’m going to pick up the universal shade too.
The product is made in China. I know the labor conditions have a bad rep, but I would like to believe that Danessa is using a manufacturer where the workers are treated well.
I'm #6 and I really like it! It's a great option for my combo oily skin as a tint type of vibe and also works great under foundation. The yummy foundation looks really nice but it's a bit heavy and more dewy than I'll reach for that often.
Just from your first video, I'm so glad that such a new product is also easy to use! I'm definitely interested. Could you maybe also use it over foundation/concealer as setting? It appears to be one of the functions stated on DM's website. I'm very curious to see how it would work. Thank you Alicia for the informative video as always ❤️
Ordered mine yesterday, quite excited. I am oily, especially in summer and EVERYTHING melts down and breaks apart on me if it's over 70* outside. I don't want the coverage of a double wear to get the longevity so hopefully this will be my jam and hopefully the lightest shade is not too dark🤞
I can't wait for mine to get here! I'm all in on Danessa Myricks right now. I ordered the Balm Powder in 7 and the Yummy Skin foundation in 16N. I can wear N07 or W04 in the VC. I've tried both of the glow serums and they are really nice. The fragrance goes away really quickly.
Alicia, I've been on the fence about this one, but you pushed me over the edge! Picked up shades 8 and 9 while watching your video, also finally got the yummy skin primer and had to grab the Pride chrome flakes too. I feel bad about your fragrance situation. I am obsessed with the herbaceous scent of the yummy skin foundation -- it actually makes me wear it more often!
I'm very curious about this product. I like the sound of the blurring & that it feels light since in the Summer ( it's normal to hit triple digits here) I don't want anything heavy like It Cosmetics CC cream on my face on top of my Josie Maran spf. It just feels too much. Pretty convenient & easy to use/apply quickly with a dense brush--I like that too! My only concern is covering my redness 🤔
I have dry skin and I wanted to try this! And I'm glad I did! It blurs my texture and adds a more coverage in places it fades. I just have to make sure I prep my skin well 🙂
By the way I have heard that the special ingledient is in Linda Halberg's setting spray gave tried it??? I am intrigued to see if that special ingredient really works for my oily T zone
I have combo skin and love a light coverage, so I feel like I am the target audience for this product lol. Definitely intrigued and want to see it in person for the best shade match! Thanks for the review 🥰
Wow it looks soooo good! It literally looks like your skin! Ordering mine today. Just hope that she adds more shades, especially deeper ones with neutral undertones
I can see a huge difference between the different sides of your face! I gotta try it. I prefer lighter coverage products because they don't tend to pull orange like foundations.
i have oily skin and want to control oil, but i don’t want any coverage, so i’m thinking about picking up the universal shade. would you recommend this product or the Linda Hallberg for translucent oil control?
I’ve had these in my cart for about a week and I can’t decide what color to get!! I’m between 7 and 8. I wish Sephora would hurry up and get it in stores so I can see it in person. Might just roll the dice today and try 7 cuz I can’t wait lol. I also want to grab one of the multi-chrome pencils before the other color I wanted sells out. I just love Danessa and her artistry.

Got mine a few days ago, its incredible at oil control but doesn’t give a flat matte finish (speaking as someone with oily skin). A must buy imo!!
Thank you for reviewing this. I’ve been so curious about it. It’s on my list for sure to try when we get a little closer to summer.
I’ve been loving the universal shade as a foundation primer and am really enjoying it!
That Yummy Skin foundation is excellent for a date night sexy sleek skin makeup look😍
I apply mine with the Wayne Goss #1 foundation brush.
I love to have a nice dew going but with summer quickly approaching my skin will bring the dewy look naturally... from sweat! xD
I was so curious about this....thank you again for this video!!! 🧡
Thank you for stopping by!
I’m sorry to hear that 😮💨 Can you use it as something to set with? What are your current go-to’s in the complexion category at the moment?
I think I set realistic expectations so if something doesn't work for me, I just look at it like "onto the next!"
Thanks for your review.
I can see why you love this so much, your skin looks amazing!
This is a great video!! I really wanted to see what you’d make of this product. It’s funny but I’ve been unexpectedly loving the L’Oréal 4-in-1 tinted balm infused with serum and now I’m very interested in laying out the cash and seeing how this product compares.
I love this as a primer for my oily skin. I love it!
Me tooooo!!!! I looked great all day lol
thank you so much for reviewing this!!! i loveeee your channel soooo much. ♥️♥️♥️
I’m so excited to see this review!
Thank you! I was excited to try this product!
New subscriber!
Thank you so much Alicia!
I’m so glad that I came across your channel discussing this product.
I’m not familiar with this line.
You speak very intelligently
about different products and I appreciate it.
Hey Sandy! Welcome to the fam! I appreciate the kind words, and thrilled to know that this video was helpful. Please keep me posted about the balm!
@@aliciaarcher
Absolutely!
I love listening to your reviews and I really appreciate you doing research on the product before using it on a video
Can't wait to try this balm powder, looks lovely on you. What was that green handled brush you used for Singe?
Took you long enough! I'm been waiting for your video on this! 🥰🥰🥰
Love the packaging. Looks very clean
Agreed! Love the mirrored copper design 😍
The component is really nice because it seems to have an oleophobic coating on it - it doesn’t readily take on fingerprints. I love that.
I literally run to click on your video when you’re reviewing and elaborating on a product! Your opinion and knowledge of the things you feature on your channel is remarkable 🌸💖
I absolutely love this product too! I am obsessed with this. It is so versatile!
Also what was that big buffing brush you held up to your face in the video? I like to swirl and buff too!
It was the Wayne Goss Holiday brush! It was limited edition, and I’m not sure if it’s available 😮💨
This was such a thorough, precise and crazy informative content/video!!! Thanks so much 😊
Thank you for the video. Can u pls tell me the lip-gloss u were wearing its so nice.
Thanks for providing so much information about this product. It sounds like a dream!
Thank you, Diana! I’ve been loving it!
I need to try, I like to show all my freckles now.. so I think I don't need full coverage everyday anymore and I think this is perfect for me
I love your videos girl. You're a smart cookie!!
I love this balm! And, I just purchased the Yummy Skin Tint, love it as well :)
I used #6 over top of Rose Inc. 80 and it looked amazing. A really nice soft glow and plump-looking skin with a bronze summer hue. I’m seriously impressed. I’m going to pick up the universal shade too.
Hi Alicia! Where is the product made in? I love this video, the demos and swatches look great!
The product is made in China. I know the labor conditions have a bad rep, but I would like to believe that Danessa is using a manufacturer where the workers are treated well.
@@aliciaarcher So true. But boy does Italy come out with beautiful formulas :D
I'm #6 and I really like it! It's a great option for my combo oily skin as a tint type of vibe and also works great under foundation. The yummy foundation looks really nice but it's a bit heavy and more dewy than I'll reach for that often.
In others brands ethos shades you use, I think I’m 6 too but I’m not sure.
I live in Arizona and it’s heating up here. I been wearing this as a primer and my oily skin looks amazing.
I have been loving this balm! I have dry skin and even when my skin isn't super prepped it's still so so good.
Awesome review. I love your Corky personality
Alicia your natural skin looks so good . Qhats been working for you?
This review was so helpful and now I know I need to try this!
My only concern is covering my redness 🤔
thanks for this! I was waiting for your review!
I have dry skin and I wanted to try this! And I'm glad I did! It blurs my texture and adds a more coverage in places it fades. I just have to make sure I prep my skin well 🙂
That’s great to know! Thank you for sharing your experience. I want to try her Yummy Skin Serum as well!
@@aliciaarcher I agree the same I have normal but a bit dry but used the serum today after moisturizing properly was great.
@@crownedprincess100 ooooo! Now I definitely need to try her serum 😍
Love to know how it is as an eye primer?
So thorough, as always! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I got #7 and it's perfect. It truly marries with the skin. I actually line the tone of DM's cream bronzer in deep as a sculpting cream, too.
Hi! Do you think it could be used to blur fine lines and set under-eye concealer?
Danessa uses it for that purpose. She demonstrated applying the balm powder under the eyes, and it did have a blurring effect.
By the way I have heard that the special ingledient is in Linda Halberg's setting spray gave tried it??? I am intrigued to see if that special ingredient really works for my oily T zone
That’s makes sense! Maybe it’s in her new primer as well? Two products are now definitely on my radar 👀
Thank you Alicia!!! 👏🤗🥰 I just added #5 to my cart, gonna see if the have any good sales then check out. 💕 Cant wait to try it out ☺️
This looks so amazing on you. My experience with the product is similar to yours! And it lasts all day
Your delivery is on point
This balm is amazing! Love it!
I used the serum and balm powder. More sandpaper than yummy. I found the formula quite drying. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?
That plaque is coming friend 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I can see a huge difference between the different sides of your face! I gotta try it. I prefer lighter coverage products because they don't tend to pull orange like foundations.
Which one you prefer the Wayne Goss vs the Dynessa
i have oily skin and want to control oil, but i don’t want any coverage, so i’m thinking about picking up the universal shade. would you recommend this product or the Linda Hallberg for translucent oil control?
I think if you want just a powder, then the LH blotting powder is lighter.
Love this very informative and helped me to make a decision
I’ve had these in my cart for about a week and I can’t decide what color to get!! I’m between 7 and 8. I wish Sephora would hurry up and get it in stores so I can see it in person. Might just roll the dice today and try 7 cuz I can’t wait lol. I also want to grab one of the multi-chrome pencils before the other color I wanted sells out. I just love Danessa and her artistry.
Alicia, what are you in Mac? Thanks for this!
