Caspian Tern sure is another pretty cool brid of NZ and this video was dope
Terns, skimmers, and noddies are shorebirds of the family Sternidae, sternids are small shorebirds most closely related to the auk family, similar to puffins, razorbills, auks, auklets, guillemots, murres, and murrelets, sternids lack a hooked beak.
It feels odd seeing the Caspian Tern pop up in NZBOTW when I've seen them in the United States a few times, but I guess that's just the nature of cosmopolitan species.
They are pretty big, fast, and graceful. I suspect they can be aggressive but I haven’t had that much to do with them.
They're loud and might poop on you if you get to close to the nest but in my experience they're kind of whimps. They're fantastic birds.
@@vggykllr Are they aggressive to other birds?
Cool images. Awesome.
They're very sleek!
I must have missed the part where the differences in appearance between males and females were described?
Apparently there isn't much (if any) sexual dimorphism between terns.
Firrrrst...!!!
Very quick!
