- The iPhone 15 Pro arrives soon -- and its coming with much more than that coveted USB-C port. With Apple's new A17 Pro performance chip, game developers have experimented and implemented ways to enhance the mobile gaming experience. In a massive leap forward for mobile gaming, A17 Pro is powerul enough to run games previously only available via PC or consoles on the iPhone 15 Pro. What does that mean? It means Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4, Assassin's Creed Mirage and more in your pocket by early 2024. During their presentation of the new featured introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro, Apple touts the A17 Pro performance chip as the future of mobile gaming. If one thing is certain, it's that mobile gamers have quite the year to look forward to.
The iPhone 15 Pro is available for pre-order starting September 15th and launches on September 22nd.

to give you guys some perspective the customized Nvidia Tegra X1 SoC in the Switch compares pretty closely to Apple's A9 SoC that was in the iPhone 6S... more than enough power has been there for a while, the problem is with heat dissipation which becomes less and less of an issue with each generation (3nm!) and lack of developer interest no doubt because most gamers are like the ones in this comment thread that either A, don't understand what mobile devices have been capable of or B, they're not interested in the experience of playing complex games on their phone which is fair.

@@joryuhabibithe problem is the switch can sustain more hours of play time compare to standard phone devices. the issue stems from balancing battery life(and lifespan) as well. you could give all the processing power in the world, but if you can only play it in 30 mins, kinda defeats the purpose.

Interested to see how they do the pricing. It’s pretty much always been between 1-15 dollars max for any game on my iPhones but surely the devs of these triple A titles will want to charge full price
It won't be just a mobile game. Once you buy it with your apple id, it can run anywhere you log in with that id. Like your iPad or Mac. So yeah, pricing might actually be higher than the console it self

We are seeing the same era as mobile gaming in 2009-2014, where many developer port their AAA game like Bioshock, Dead Space, GTA, Dead Rising to the Phone. The era whee online game was at its infancy.

RE8 and 4 remake on iPhone is CRAZYYYY but I'm not too surprised since already the port of Alien Isolation on iOS was something unbelievable. And when played it was one of the best experiences.
Fact that Death stranding is also coming is already a beautiful stuff
Alien isolation is a PS3 game that requires 4Gigs of ram and can be played without Graphics Card, even then on mobile the game missing lot of compile files and looked less better than the console ones so it's crazy to even come to your conclusion that it won't having any issue to run PS5 games when standard Gaming PC that are created to play Nowadays game on 1080 60 FPS having a hard time to even run RE 4 Remake on 60 FPS.
We were close to fully able to play PS3 game, missing textures, performance issue and glitches are yet to be expected due phones limitation and capability, it can be improvise with Gen 2 as it also has ray tracing but all of sudden you can play PS5 games with promised of zero issues? Exaggerating asf

Just because you can play these games on phones it will still make the battery run out very quickly at it’s highest settings. Hopefully the battery has gotten a huge improvement.
They improved the chips energy consumption and it handles the lighting with hardware instead of software reducing the processing needed to render the game even with ray tracing the battery will be probably about the same as it is now 5-6 hrs
Exactly, even at low or mediym settings, the battery won't last long. Playing while charging is not a best option from me.
It probably has, they've trimmed off the edges making the screen look better than ever, but they've made the phone thicker, mostly for a battery pack

There's a video of a guy emulating windows 11 and running PC games (CSGO on 1080p got 20-30FPS, Tomb Raider 2013 on 1080p got 20ish FPS and on 540p got 30-50 FPS). And it's running on snapdragon 845, flagship from 2018. Sure it cooks the phone, but keep in mind it's running the game on top of windows.

People forget that phones are not just for playing games. They're phones. People don't buy these because they want a portable gaming machine. But this may compel them to upgrade. Now, they have more choices when and where they want to play games. Nobody should buy these expensive devices because of just one reason. In saying that, collectively, if you have the money and are looking to upgrade your daily driver, this device is a compelling one.

You can already check how it holds the beta version. Surprisingly, the iPhone doesn’t get hot after certain temperature, doesn’t loose fps and the battery loss is approximately 5% per 30 minutes. The only thing is that display gets dimmed sometimes

The biggest issue with gaming on iPhone is not the lack of games or graphics, it’s the fact that thermal throttling kicks in not even 15 min after any remotely intensive game.
They need to improve the cooling for it to be viable in any way.
hopefully some third party brand create built in magsafe cooler controller. there is multiple magsafe compatible cooler out there. So it isnt that far fetched

How long will it take before the cpu gets throttled to almost unplayable frames. Just look at comparisons between the s23 ultra and 14 pro max. Some user was able to render the iphone completely unplayable. While the s23 ultra was still keeping up

@@pipikakachutitanium will not cool the inside only the outside. Which is worser and you cannot cool the phone at a fast rate if you have a temperature gun and it says 40° the inside will be 43°-45°
If the have accessories to slot the iPhone into a controller, this will work. But just playing these big games with a touch screen only…I’m skeptical.
You can connect the Dualsense controller to iPhone via Bluetooth. It’s very, very easy.

People like you need to realize the iPhone is a phone and not a game console. If you can play the same games as a game console on your phone, which you use for other things like calling/texting, browsing social media, taking pictures, etc., then it is great because now you don't need to buy anything extra. Just the phone!

well the thing about graphic demanding mobile gaming is heat and power consumption, im not sure iPhone is able to keep it cool to play long time without getting overheating and run out of power in just 2 hours maximum, unless they have some accessories like a cooler fan to keep it cool and a bypass charging to handle the power
