That was the most profoundly philosophical video I have seen in years. And not just from a mini painting perspective, I mean IN GENERAL!! Well done
Thanks man! I enjoy a good metaphor :)
Awesome man. Thanks for the peptalk. During 2023 i bought the equivalent of 13-15 moving crates of Warhammer Terrain and Minis. This year i'm focusing on washing, building, mold-line removing and priming it all (and i'm steadily getting better and faster at it). When i'm done with that stage i'm finally gonna paint it all. Imagine having that much stuff just ready to paint. It's a MEGA sub assembly undertaking and it's so much fun!
Haha, step one, collect. You're all set for step two, the year when you paint the world ⛓️
Who let this beautiful man on my screen
The nameless algorithm.
I'm always jealous of you guys and Vincycon and I think I know why now. I do all my hobby work alone in my basement. I wish I had a group of friends to hangout with, paint and shoot the shit with. I really need to go out and fine my own group near me to do this with.
It took a long time before I found this group, as well as other people to paint with. Many years, painting alone. But here I am.
Thanks for this video, I'm going to take one practical step towards making my own Vinceycon. My name isn't Vince, but hopefully no-one will notice the discrepancy.
Heh, D.I.Y. all the way!
You are an inspiration to a lot of people for sure! I appreciate the words of wisdom.. I have been in a rut for a long time.. there are a lot of factors at play here, but the good news is i'm finally starting to break out of those shackles... For several years now I've worked from home, so my hobby space and work desk are one in the same.. I figured what better way to separate the 2 then by getting another desk. So today I finally finished up my "desk" project of getting another desk of FB Marketplace.. fixing it up into a very nice hobby desk and hauled everything upstairs to my office. I've got plenty of room now to keep my work desk nice and clean like a "professional" and plenty of room to stretch out and have my creative place be exactly that.. a creative place. I feel like that alone was a big hurdle for me and I expect to have lot of paint slinging and enjoyment of the creative process... time to get to work on the practice part again!
for the longest time I had to use a modified "breakfast in bed" type of tray for my desk and sit on the couch with my light on the arm of the couch lol
But now I got a folding table I bought and now I have much more room and can have all my tools, brushes, bits, and minis in the same place.
Glad you were able to figure out your desk situation as well
Tiny habits will result in large changes, it takes some time but you're pushing in the right direction for your happiness. It's all coming together B)
@@ShowerOnceYearly so far it's been great! full steam ahead! Glad to hear you got you a nice space too.. I stayed with my dad for 6 months while he battled colon cancer, and used a folding table as my workspace and hobby space.. it wasn't like my desk at home, but it sure did work for what I needed it too!
@@SamLenzArtwork Sam Lenz strikes again, always appreciate your words of wisdom brother.. you're 100% correct!
Love watching these I wish I had friends who were into the hobby you guys are awesome
Thanks man! They're out there, many years went by before I met these friends.
Some great observations. Having that time of uninterrupted focus on your work really does make a difference!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Really enjoyed this one
Thanks so much!
Such an awesome, and inspiring group of people.
Props for keeping at the drums as well! As a metal head (and generally open-minded musically) I love discovering new bands and music
Thanks man! It's my hobby aside from the hobby/job, keeps things fun :)
This why you’re my fav painter. Excellent video sir.
Thanks, man. Much appreciated :)
Can't wait for that music, Sam! 🤘
All 3 are amazing! It's great how different the schemes and techniques are!! Awesome work!
Thanks so much!
Some pretty sick paintjobs on those busts.
Yeah buddy B)
"I could have gotten this model done a lot more quickly, if I was better at painting" - Sam Lenz (one of the most awarded mini painters in USA, if not the world)
Hah, I'm far from the best. But I do show up:)
Professional 👍
This is a knowledge taco within a knowledge taco. And I 100% agree I use yourself and your discord as a slipstream for my painting , I'm not where I want to be but model by model I'm more things that make me think "wow did I do that".
Chrome for Chrome Lord , Paint for the taste buds
Thanks man, glad you got something from it. Nice to depart from the usual and get a little theory on the channel. Unchained!
That went deep, dude. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice!
Thanks!
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Thanks, Mark!
Your senior photos at the start, really classed up the video.
Haha, thanks!
You rock
Cheers!
This advice kinda helps. It's hard just wanting to progress and then see models like yours or Vince or anyone's and it jusy seems so natural for you guys. Same with all the color theory stuff and forms of everything.
I've been painting for a while and it just seems like it's not going anywhere I look at the first model amd the most recent one it doesn't look much different. I cand try and blend or stipel or what ever but it just ends up being not enough or way to much. Like tmm It just ends up looking like patches of random idk I dint really have people to bounce ideas off of or to go to get advice from just seems I don't know this doesn't make sense
Great video
Glad it was some help. Seems like you're struggling but trying new things, which is normal. I offer lessons (currntly sold out) and a monthly feedback session on my Patreln.
I would love to but between taking care of my wife both my kids and now my mom and dad moneys not really existent.
I've been trying to but I'm also on that funk of not having any motivation to paint lately. I sit down wanting to then i cant get my self to start. Thanks for the response.
Looked like a great time birthday bro!
Hopefully the landing was smoother than the takeoff footage though 🤣
Heh, all limbs intact upon landing. Thanks, buddy!
Hey. Weird question, how do you like that terrain crate terrain? Thinking of getting the modern city brick building kit as a first big terrain purchase.
It seems fine, I haven't seem any of it in my hands but my expectations for scenery are lower because I'm always krumping it up.
I hate how little railing banisters Vince has 😂
Hah, he's good guy with a nice home.
That looked like a Boeing aircraft.
Mutual admiration society. 🤢
I think I just watched a plane crash....
UFO spotted!
Definitely a SouthWorst flight... 🤣
Oh, and keep your hands away from your ears while sunflower gazing. 🔪👂
Heh, having a little fun. Cheers!
You guys should put out some Christmas cards. Wholesome paragons of the chromatic keep
Your perspective on your hobby improvement for drumming was spot on. Let's hear that demo as background in your next painting vid. Stay trve!
Haha, thanks man, alvvays! I'll put together a card next time.
