its funny how Will think every step and Alec go with the flow and near the end Will is always calm and relax and Alec is almost dying in despair cuz he didnt finish his job ^^
For being myself a rope dart spinner, Alec's dart look more like a real Chinese dart than Will's dart who look more like a throwing knife on a rope than a dart. To throw the dart more accurately you can pass the dart under your arm pit then over your shoulder and when it's high enough you pull down the rope and release it at the same time. This cause the dart to fly in a straight line and at a high speed. Anyway great challenge guys your awesome !
@@BestLittleStudio Sorry for my bad explanation lol. In fact, you have to let the dart "wrapping" around your shoulder by passing it under your arm pit. The dart will do a half circle before you pull down with your dominant hand to make the throw. ( don't know if it is more clear 😂)
Well done lads, they turned out great. Please make a set of damascus scissors.. I know they will be tough but they combine a lot of skills to make and would provide a good 100 episode series Cheers

Hey Alec! Just watched the lathe video. I'm in highschool working precision machines so I picked up on a few things. This is important: we always put the workpiece in and indicate the sides of the workpiece! Then you can fix the wobbly mess and taper along the part via the 4 opposing screws on the outside of the chuck!
You guys are both awesome! Congratulations to Will for the win! Alec, I think you had smarter design considerations (keeping the weight up), but Alex won in execution. Nice knot knowledge, too!

Would love to see you guys taking on a folding knife project, maybe a pair... One for each of you. Some damascus steel and gem inlay! Could be a great little series to watch
Just thought I'd let you guys know, your videos helped me pass one of my engineering exams. I had a question on the pros and cons of different types of casting (die, sand, investment) and used info from your vids to answer the question
Love it. I've played with a rope dart, start at 5-7 feet then work out from there. "We make terrible ninjas" had me rolling. As did the look on Will's face at the tied on mittens remark. Have a beautiful day guys.
I was going to make that Scorpion's reference. Glad was not alone. It's my brother's favorite champion. Mine was Sub Zero. Our relationship was just like theirs xD
YES! I used to do firespinning and object manipulation on the regular with a rope dart, awesome piece of kit and technique especially when you train with it for awhile.
Alex and Will should each make an identical pair of railroad spike knives. A battle of consistency. Or a matching pair of any forged object of selection.
Will: So, firstly, you want to make a loop around your hand, and you're done. It looks like I have some free time. So I guess I'll do some cleaning. Alec: AHH 3 MINUTES LEFT NOOOO
**Edited at the bottom** At around 3:50 when Alec mentions a “rounded dart” I’m kind of wincing because of the background knowledge I’ve gained on medieval arrows, the armor piercing arrows tended to have sharp geometrical shapes with as much defined edge as possible on their shapes, this was due to the physics involved in puncturing metal. A rounded tip has to force and push its way through a new face of metal at every degree, whereas something shaped like a leaf or a more pyramidal shape only has to cleave through where the edges meet, the faces of the arrow peel itself through. My terms are all mixed up which might be difficult to understand but basically it’s similar to punching a bucket of water verses karate chopping it and the displaced water represents the amount of work that shape had to exert to achieve the desired effect. You’d notice that the fist, having a more rounded shape, will splash more water compared to the karate chop. ** it just occurred to me that his goal isn’t full penetration but to puncture, and with the weight he seems to be keeping on the piece he should achieve what he wants provided he gets a solid hit.
You guys need to do a challenge where you make Damascus without a power hammer. I don't even know if that's possible but he should try it with sledgehammers.

you might want to consider that often these types of weapons were on a chain instead of rope (consider the kusarigama), so that they could not be cut, then ribbons might be woven through them to silence the links, with the generally accepted "best" length being; stand with your arms outstretched to the sides, measure from the ground up to one hand, across to the other, and then back down to the ground, this should give a length that can be thrown and recovered smoothly, with one smooth motion for each also consider putting the kunai-ish thingy that Wil made on one end and the meteor hammer type thingy that Alec made on the other end, for double ended action, and also consider making them twice the size, or more, 4 times as big may be too much, maybe, but they need more mass to do much more than nick the can like that, sticking in a wooden target would be tough just in case you wanted to try and make these quite lethal weapons Better what happened to the designated target area to the shop, did that not move with you?

Steele vs. Stelter is great because you guys always give tips.
