Fellow Brit here and our thunderstorms are always pretty lame, unless you’re directly beneath one. I’ve only experienced that once, at a girl guide camp when I was a kid, and the thunder was like a bomb exploding, it was INSANE. The lightning was mad too, different colours like blue and pink, it was totally nuts! I’ll never forget the sound of that thunder, it was bloody terrifying. Especially as we were in tents pretty close to trees 😒

So I live in the UK and I once saw a massive flash like that and the thunder was surprisingly quiet

What the strange shelf-closing like thunder! Its the worst for me type of thunder, heard it in Ukraine twice: in 2018 and in 11 june of 2024
