This guide was perfect. Phone is repaired. The witrigs website was very good for getting the part, but also suggesting all apparatus needed to do the repair. However I chose to buy a toolbox with 115 parts to do it instead, which was a good decision, as 1 screw wouldn't turn with the Phillips head screwdriver, so an alternative in the toolbox saved the day. 1 tip I have is they forget to mention in the video the adhesive layer to reattach the back cover needs to have the holes cut in it for the camera , flash etc. To get the job done for a fraction of the cost of bringing it to a repair shop was great.

It's charging! Thanks for this video. My first time ever doing any mobile repair and I managed to fix it. I had a wet finger, which got into the charge port and it shorted and wouldn't charge. I would reiterate what others have said here: you don't need to remove the two large motherboard cables and sticky pad - save yourself time. And make sure you have the right tools. I got a precision multifunction screwdriver set off Amazon for cheap, which has all you need. Be careful not to poke the electronics with anything metal! You will also need the sticky seal to make the unit waterproof again - I found one off eBay for €7 - I also got the charge port off eBay for €7. Good luck! It's not that hard but you need to take your time and watch the video carefully. 👍

Well, I waited as long as possible before attempting this, because I didn't give myself high odds of a successful operation on the phone. But I kept the computer on the desk next to the phone as I worked, and referenced each section. Patience is a virtue, I didn't rush, and it all went back together fairly easily and miraculously the phone works! Big thing was getting a 000 size philips screwdriver.

Excellent instruction! My phone is back charging again thank you! One note, you can get away with not disconnecting the motherboard cables. You can just lift the motherboard out and tip it to one side while leaving it connected and still access the charge port.

Why is the port so weak? Mine wore away within 6 months of purchase. Not to mention, the USB-C cable. I'm glad I found this video.

It's a really great video, and explains everything perfectly. There is NO WAY that I'm going to try doing that myself, though. I'd rather pay an expert, so I can have a working phone afterwards! LOL Btw, the USB C system is a horrible system. Mine has completely worn out after just 9 months of use.

Based on my previous PC and mobile self-repair experiments, I'll get it done maybe in 20 hours and break something else in the process.

What was the blue thing that was put on the back cover? Is that to replace the glue?

The one at 7:05? Yes, that's the back cover adhesive.

Many thanks. before I strip the phone down do you know if it's a solder or taped down? It's possible it's just covered in milk (don't ask) and just needs a clean but I'm not certain I could do a solder that small. I got a spare main mic from a company and it came with an adhesive square which leads me to believe it's just taped/glued down, but maybe that's a cover?
