I love that term “Win your battle”, but everyones battle is different: 1v1s, defending space, stopping opponent, controlling my emotions (See 5Cs of Dr Chris Harwood), physical battles and many many more. These battles can be Intrinsic or Extrinsic .. 🤔

Listening to this, i start thinking, putting young children into boxing, Martial arts as well as football would be beneficial to teach kids how to be confident, competitive and learn how to look after themselves, if society cannot teach it 🤔

Dark Arts, mainly taught by ex pros and elders(Mainly a defenders super Skill); namely taking the player with the ball, getting in someones face, or on their nerves, winning one to ones early, poking people/distracting them from the ball, stepping across the ball to get a fowl, touching opposition to tell them you are here(Casually walking into opponent off the ball)opps sorry about that!!!), the list is endless, never mind the mind games. I once played with a Crazy CB who walked out to start a game and made it known “i feel like smashing someone today”, it turned out he wasnt feeling too well and fancied an easy game.. The mind trick worked and he laughed about it after the game in the pub..Players who i have seen “Live” who are Brillliant at it, John Terry, Poyol, pally & Bruce and more recently Rudiger at Madrid.. Masters, but mainly psychological now i think..🤔

They are called “Dark Arts” because they happen in the Dark and no one sees them, but they get you an advantage. Try telling the player on the receiving end who is on the end of Fear, Anger or Bad fouls

Hard tackles 'n challenges are part of the dark arts?? Thought it was diving and provoking players.
