    Drake's upbringing and what he raps about is not in sync with "the culture". Lil Wayne even gave him a warning to "Keep it Canadian" and lil Wayne was right. The culture will come after him with one of their own. Example: the Tupac AI was a bit distasteful, very gimmicky and Kendrick was like, ok I'll make it so when you show up in LA, you better wear a bulletproof vest because that was very disrespectful to the culture.

      @@prophecy9521are we acting like being born and raised in New Orleans during a period with its highest crime rate is the same as being raised in Forrest Hill in Toronto? Even if Lil Wayne wasn’t blood, he still would’ve been exposed to crime in NOLA during that time. It was the murder capital of the world. We know Kendrick grew up around it so we don’t need to question it when he talks gangsta. Look at his old interviews… he’s definitely from Compton. But he’s a conscious rapper because of how messed up it is

    drake absolutely is a culture vulture and lacks cultural awareness; when he rapped "you rap like you about to free the slaves" was a prime example. he said that to a black person and doesn't understand the significance behind it. Like making people more aware of the bullshit is a problem. But it truely isn't Drake's fault; its everybody who co-signed him and allowed him to act like he was a part of the culture. You know everybody from the last verse on they not like us.

      @warewareno 18 дней назад +5

      @@prophecy9521 I wouldn’t say taking the persona of a gangster. He’s storytelling on that album, a lost art in hip-hop of this current era.
      Nonetheless, he actually is affiliated with Compton bloods, but don’t promote that through his music and image.
      Ironically, when Drake’s blackness is called into question, he says very questionable things. Like, why have the slave line? Why attempt to diminish someone for an “apparent” lack of gang affiliation, as if that’s a prerequisite for blackness? I’m sure he didn’t intend for that reception, but it can easily be received that way
