Thanks for the video, guys. Close to the Edge is without a doubt the best, most virtuosic and most fascinating progressive album ever released. They were very assertive and intelligent in carefully choosing timbres to achieve that extraordinary sound chemistry. Everything sounds so clear and bright that it is impressive that they managed to achieve such a perfect level of production with the technology available at the time.
I was anxiously waiting for this album, due to the increasing musical boldness that Yes had already shown in the two previous albums. And I was completely shocked and in love when I heard it for the first time. I knew it would be something big, but I didn't expect to face something on this level that would cause me a fascination that has never diminished over all these years. This masterpiece will never lose its brilliance and musical value.
Jon Anderson wanted the introduction to this suite to be the musical representation of a river. As work progressed in the studio, what would have been a river was transformed into that humid, lively electronic forest, which intensified until the turn that led to Steve Howe's initial guitar solo. As Jon had already agreed with the band that they would dedicate the next album to the scriptures of Paramahansa Yogananda's Hindu texts, the idea of the river as an introduction was once again postponed but appears completely and masterfully well orchestrated introducing the next album, Relayer, in the suite The Gates of Delirium.

Absolutely! We discuss Bill's contributions on the album and the reason why he left so soon after the album's release for Alan to step in at last minute to save the tour!
