This is extremely harsh, as she calls them MY kids in relation to irrational personal guilt she felt about not being able to do what she felt she should due to her cancer treatment. It makes perfect sense to say MY in this context. Our guilt doesn’t do collective responsibility.

She didn't say he was picking the kids up from soccer practice. She said her 3 year old wanted to be held and because of the chemo she was too weak, so she told the kid she couldn't because she hurt her arm and instead Desantis picked the kid up and held them. And she's acting like Desantis holding his own kid is such an amazingly supportive thing for him to have done for her.
You try going through cancer and not being able to hold your children, such a SIMPLE thing, and then talk about this with your judgment and pretentious attitude. I know personally how hard that is, and the small and simple things mean more to the person going through cancer than big grand gestures. I doubt you have a healthy relationship with anyone, let alone will ever be married. If you are, I can tell you it won't last long. Men don't want to be with females who act like men. Maybe stop growing a pair and learn to be a feminine woman?

When I first heard this, I thought she meant "pick up" the kids from like a school or daycare or something. Watching it twice and noticing her talk about her arm, does she mean physically pick them up? As in he's such an unattentive dad that he only holds his kids when their mother is literally too sick to, and that holding them is a favour for her rather than something for the kids?

I've seen it enough times to recognize that Ron is very concerned that she'd say something she didn't have his permission to say. He was not so attentive as he was making sure she knew he was watching. He has an issue with her not being near him. He cannot oversee or control her if she's not in his presence. I'd call him out as an absolutist tyrant at home. Her role was to compliment him. It always is. probably even in private. conjecture of course but i recognize his kind.

Also, when literally crying about her cancer struggles, she STILL had to reach out to hold his hand for comfort/optics. She's better aware of how their body language looks for political aspirations than he is.
This is so cringe and telling, and *non one* is commenting on the things that really raised red flags for me. When answering the question, Ms. DeSantis says numerous times, "my kids". Not "our kids", not "the kids" but "MY kids". Like they are hers and Mr. DeSantis doesn't enjoy full custody of the children, they are "hers" and he's just the simp that takes care of her and "her kids".
This is the same type of behavior that angered me decades ago when one of my male friends kept referring to the time he spent with his children as "baby sitting", as in, "The wife is at ______ (work/visiting friends/in the hospital, etc), so I'm stuck baby sitting."
That would always set me off, and I would respond, "You're not BABY SITTING, you are rearing your children."
Of course this guy was a RWNJ - MAGAtt dude, so this whole mindset, "women raise children, fathers are just money providers" seems common to that type of person. But that's what I kept getting from this interview. Ron is so damn absent in his children's lives that him picking them up from school because his wife is in the hospital with cancer is seen as some glorious act to celebrate instead of just a man doing the bare minimum for his family.
This interview made me disrespect him even more, because there's no way I can have any less respect for him.

"My kids" was far from Casey's only extremely bizarre choice of words during that interview. She also said, among other things, "when you're going through OPPORTUNITIES where you can barely scrape yourself off the bathroom floor". Between "my kids" and saying that the kids don't know about her cancer battle because "THEY don't think that they're old enough to really understand what that means", it's possible that she just genuinely doesn't understand how pronouns work....which potentially casts Ron's war on trans people in a new light.
that's not a good analogy because she used "They" because "They" have multiple children now if "They" only had 1 child then yeah it would be a perfect analogy..I guess we all see👁👁 "The Stepford Wife" with her which is sad..😔😔😔 I feel sad for all of "them" especially the children..😔😔😔

Both instances of "they" in that sentence seemingly refer to the children, suggesting that she asked the children if they were old enough to understand her cancer battle, and they decided that they weren't; contrast that with "we/I don't think that they're old enough", which is far more likely to be what she meant.

I Know I was Wondering the same thing..I heard,She's been fighting a pretty hard battle going thur the Cancer treatments.I Wish Her the very Best. It really struck me that DeSantis' wife is visibly upset talking about her cancer experience and he just sits there, and SHE has to grab his hand. He has no empathy for his wife's struggles. And, for her to think him doing his job as a father was actually a favor to HER, while he nods his head in agreement . . .wow. He's total dick.
My mom is a cancer survivor and was diagnosed when I was 8, my sister was 9, and my brother was 6. It wasn’t something we couldn’t handle, although I agree I didn’t fully understand what cancer was. Mrs. Disantis shouldn’t feel like she can’t share her battle with her kids. It made me have incredible admiration for my mother and made me way more empathetic and it made me appreciate the fragility of life. Anyways, hope she tells them sooner rather than later.
And I think the kids would understand if she was sick when she was in the hospital for extended stents of time, or getting treatment instead of just random "my arm hurts" so if one kid hurts their arm, they'll think they have to do all that she's done! Idk, I really think kids are able to understand some of it!

Based on the well rehearsed delivery of her story, I read the usage of "my kids" as a voter talking about an elected official. "He took care of *my kids* in my time of need. He'll take care of *your kids*" kinda thing. It's something they're going to use in an ad if his campaign lasts much longer.

He hired a nurse so my health problems do not become his problems.
