Hello...Springfield resident for 22 years. I was deployed to Haiti in 94 with Special Ops. Anyone that is "other" in this town is vilified. Lots of the residents born and raised here are having issues with housing and jobs so they need someone has to be the reason.

Aren't asylum and refugee applicants intensely vetted. Why don't people speak about that. A healthy and robust immigration system can process and vet immigrants much quicker and fully with all the technology that we have. Our government refuses to update so many systems that it hinders our ability to exponentially expand. Think of how long it took PD departments to have interstate communications. We could document, tax and put people into a 10 year plan to either move back home with a robust savings to bring back what they learned here or stay and become a part of what should be the American dream. That definition changed so much in 3 generations here.
Our government doesn’t refuse to update, elected officials sabotage the update. Look at what Republicans have done to the ATF. The ATF isn’t even allowed to have computers due to the rights fear of registries. It’s the same thing with immigration and health care with the right.

I'm from Ohio. I got tf out by joining the military. Ohio is desperate for healthy young people who aren't on fentanyl, after so many got hooked on drugs when the factories closed and "pain clinics" were pumping pills into our cities and towns en masse.
Canton lost a lot of people and ended up with a lot of empty, condemned houses after the 2008 crash, when factories all around the county were shut down and moving out of the country. If Springfield has managed to make itself appealing to outsiders, that's awesome, it's more than most parts of Ohio are managing.
