If I remember correctly the soprod movement was designed by Seiko but they sold the design to a company in Switzerland, I have two watches with soprod movement's in them both are tribus watches, it's a solid movement it's like a clone of the ETA 2892
Sweet looking piece! I like this color and the gray dial. Love this bracelet and enjoy the polished center links. I’ve got a watch with a 10 crown for an internal slide rule bezel and I can’t help but feel like it’s best suited for a left handed person, wearing the watch on their right wrist.
I really like each colorway! Yeah, 10 o'clock crowns aren't the easiest if using regularly, but most likely the world timer function will be rarely changed once set as desired. Cheers
Thanks for the support! It's been a bit since I made this one but thought I did. Sorry about that if not. The disc is easy to use, it's just like a hand, with the time being read at 12 o'clock. You set the location with the 10 o'clock crown, with your desired city also at 12 o'clock. After that, the corresponding cities around the bezel will reflect the time on the GMT disc. I hope this helps. Cheers
Great vid. I must have missed something though. So to set the gmt time you move the outside bezel. You cant move the inside colored disk? Im not understanding how I read the time on this one :)
Thank you! I should have better addressed that part. The inner disc is adjusted with the 3 o'clock crown (think of it just like the fourth hand on a traditional GMT). Once set for your desired timezone, you use the 10 o'clock crown to align the corresponding city. You then tell primary/time using the 3 hands, the set GMT hour using the disc (references at 12 o'clock), and world timer bezel to see any other city's time (based on the GMT discs position in front of that city). It's one of those things that's hard to picture until you check it out and then it makes sense. It's the most useful type of GMT in my opinion, the disc just adds cool factor. Hope that helps. Cheers
@@JonathanTReviews thanks. that makes sense now :) I dont really need a gmt much but I like this configuration with no 4th hand. Its a great looking watch. Im 90% sure Im going to get one. I like the blue best. Great timing on the vid. Its made my thinking a lot clearer :)
Glad I could help! I'm with you on GMT's. Generally don't need one and have to really like the watch. This one checks both boxes for me though, I really like the watch and I could actually see me using this GMT function (intuitive and handy). This blue is a beauty! I have a hard time picking a favorite between the blue, white, and purple. Cheers
I like this … the case shape is smooth .. it’s got a nice lighter vibe to it.. I still think the Certina DS GMT is the best 1000 or under gmt on the market for the money right now … this is some very nice competition.. and I like that bracelet link shape .. very cool 😎 thanks 🙏 for sharing
Glad you're digging it as well! While I really like the total package, the world timer sells me on this one. Such an intuitive way to reference the time in multiple regions. Thanks for your support! Cheers
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I haven't noticed the hand size issue in my usage but could definitely see the 10 o'clock crown being polarizing, just like with Omega. Cheers
@@JonathanTReviews My remark about the hand size was more about the proportions of the hands in comparison with the whole watch, not so much about usability
Understood buddy, that's what I was meaning as well. Relative to the dial size and amount going on, it felt pretty balanced to me, but these are so much in the eye of the beholder just like art. Cheers 🥂
GMT DONE WRONG The watch is unworkable, as the designers are using the GMT hand to move a 24 hour dial, whereas a GMT watch hand should move against a fixed 24 hour bezel. You can see that if you line up cities for 24 hours then it is backwards, eg LA is later than NY rather than behind in time. That is quite useless as a world time watch. The company have now issued the watch with cities going the other way, so LA is now "east" of NY. This corrects the time problem but the cities are nevertheless going the wrong way. It would be better to forget that the dial has a GMT function and to reverse the hours so that they increase in a clockwise direction just as a GMT watch with an outer rotating bezel has. Until they do that, this watch is non-starter, and anyone buying it will find that it is unusable.
I'm not sure I follow how the city orientation being corrected for time makes it unusable. The order was printed incorrectly on the prototype but corrected for production as you noted. The times should correctly line up with the proper cities now, functioning as intended. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding.

I ordered a Tribus with a Soprod calibre and I'm looking forward to it!

great review, but how can it be without demonstration of the actual time- timezone setting ??

I like it, it’s got a unique look in my opinion. I’d forsure wear this watch.
I do as well and have thoroughly enjoyed it on wrist! Cheers

Hey, great review as usual. Emailed you for a review on our new watches. Cheers.
Thanks for the kind words and support. I'll follow up with you shortly. Cheers
Is the case leather?
I don't believe so. It feels like a nicely textured synthetic.
The watch is not for me. I can't look past that 10 o'clock crown and the hands are a tad dainty.

Soprods don't have the best reputation....
I can't speak to long-term issues yet but time will tell. Cheers

Looks decent! Untill i saw the price!
It seems competitive for the specs to me and there aren't many world timer options. Cheers
