I love that you don't even keep track. For too many booktubers, it's no longer a celebration of reading. It is a competition of how many books one can consume in a year. Quantity is all that matters. It has to reduce the enjoyment of reading.
Yes enjoy reading books and do not worry about how many books you can read. Just read read read. Thank you for the comment. ( I am not implying it is wrong to set reading goals. Some folks find setting reading goals helpful.)
Jonny, Just discovered your channel the other day. Love the term "hermit hut". I'm going to steal that! God bless man! Keep using your platform for Good.
I tend to read a bit slowly, even when I'm reading light material. Combine that with my interests being very diverse and I tend to do a lot of book hopping and taking a long time to finish things as well, but that's mostly fine to me. Like you, I just focus on reading as an activity, jumping into and out of things according to mood and interest week to week, more than trying to "finish" books in a linear, structured way. Anything really great will be worth returning to indefinitely anyway. Anything that's less than great, well, it's not so sad if I never go through those "cover to cover" when there's so much great stuff I haven't engaged with at all yet that ought have priority, or great works that I could (as always) read more deeply.
I can relate to what you wrote. I read what interest me at the moment and do not worry if I will finish reading the book. Like I said in this video I do find myself lately finishing reading novels. Thank you for sharing and have a good reading week. peace
Mr. Keen, I really love your reflections and videos, and I would like to start reading your journals, because I want to read your journals I am a bit concerned about when exactly will you publish your online? I mean is it accessible in morning or evening? bless you ❤
I write every day in my LiveJournal diary crookedfingers usually in the afternoon hours. I have been writing in LJ for 24 years every day. I have been writing in a paper diary since 1968 but only have paper diaries from 1978 to today 8/5/2024. I am a Reader and a Diary Writer. My videos are a part of my online diary.
I keep buying more books than I’m able to read because my lack of time for reading. They’re all books that I want to read. I’ve purchased books that you’ve recommended that I’m excited to get into.I hope that someday I will be in a position like you where I can spend my days reading.
I keep collecting more books also that I might never get around to reading also. But I love books and if I come across a book that is interesting and cheap I usually why buy it. Right night I buy books that go with other collections.
I'm just like you, Jonny. I jump from comics to the books on linguistics, from poetry to novels. The constants are WW2 history and religious writings, but my reading is guided by my mood and where my thoughts choose to take me each day. All the best from Poland. - Matthew
I could go through my 2024 paper diary and find out how many books I have read but I am not into counting how many books I read in one year. Like I said I am a Reader. I also mainly read to nourish my spiritual life. I always enjoy your vidoes, learning about books and different writers.
that is a silly question off the top of my head, there are 2 things that matter much more than the number of books you read 1. what you are left with after you read thiose books. 2. what pleasure did you get while reading them and soon after, outside of bragging the numbers to others around you OR to your own self i find the bragging useless and childish in the same time note: how do you measure A SLOWREADER versus a fast reader... who comes ahead?? and now comes forefront the sillyness of the question.. we all have one lifetime... one reads 1000 or more books , another 100,
I consider myself a life time student. I mainly read to learn new things. The more you read and learn new things ones experience of Reality is richer. Reading causes one to be more intensely aware of the world/creation/life/being made in the image of God. Yes, it is hard to determine if one is a slow reader or if one a faster reader. I read slowly because I have find myself pondering what I am reading as I read and also write in my paper diary as I read. I jot down stuff from the books I am reading. I suppose every reader gets what they want from reading, some skim through book after book whereas other readers read and while reading get lost in other worlds. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. peace

Yes I can relate to what you wrote. Read what you find enjoyable at the time. Why worry about finishing a book. Hope all is well peace Holland MI USA
I read 50 or so novels last year. With scholarly books added to those, it's around 100. But I probably buy between 500-1000 each year...

@@saintonfire77 I only tallied my total up to do a video. Like you, I care nothing about numbers.
