Thank you! I am leaving for UK tomorrow to be an Au pair and I am starting to be really nervous and scared and I am starting to doubt my decision and your video relly calmed me down. So thank you
I've just found your video and this is what I needed! I'm gonna be an au pair from the January so there's only 1 month left and I'm so exited and nervous as you said... But I'm also very happy about this and I'm sure I'll stay in England permanently! I can see you live in London and I'm gonna live there too! :)
Oh my- I always wanted to be an au pair in America and I love the fact that you uploaded your positive experience because I agree that there are so many videos that are about bad experiences :D
im completing my degree in january, and im planning of spending 1 year au pairing before joining the work world, because honestly i need a break. thank you for this positive video sandy. already im talking with one family based in Uk, im so excited :-)
A really nice presentation! 😊 I used to be an au pair in london as well and I absolutely loved it! I looked after 1 girl and a dog 😻 Now, I'm helping others getting nice families too
Thanks for the video, I'm hoping to travel to Australia from the UK this year! I have never left the UK before so very excited!! And have even said to myself I may never want to come back home! :)
This is amazing. I'm seriously thinking about being an au pair in the UK. How did you go about transitioning from being an au pair to finding a job and setting down in the UK if you don't mind me asking. Did your host family help you?
Ok, over and out :)
Im English, and have no interest in being an au pair, but i love watching your channel! You're really happy and friendly, and I love meeting smaller youtubers online. So nice to see your vlogs! xx
Hi Sandy, my name is Emma and I'm from The Netherlands. I've lived in London as an au pair for half a year last year and I am currently doing a teacher-training course to become an English teacher. I thought I'd be nice to let you know I will be using your video for a listening exercise at my intern ship this week! It is nice to hear your views on being an au pair. Kind regards!
+SandyMakesSense Hi Sandy! They enjoyed it very much. I have worked as an au pair in London aswell about a year ago, therefore I chose this video for my lesson. Thanks again!
Hee Meike!
Oh my godness you are such a big inspiration😱 This year in near 2 months I will also start an Au Pair year😍 Wow and that you stay there.. that this is possible. Thank you for your sharing🙊❤️
I'm so thankfull for this video. I'm going to be an au pair in Brighton in 15 days and I saw so much videos where girls explain their bad experience. Thanks for cheering me up again :)
when you said about siting home doing nothing and wasting time I felt really bad because that's just what I have now and day after day I feel less and less happy, so powerless and wasted. This is not what I imagined my life like and this video only inspired me to make this step so thank you so much for pushing me; you're amazing. I'll let you know one day how my things worked out and I hope that the next comment is going to be really happy from me. I'm going to watch this video every time I'll feel down:)
no name hey! I just stepped over you comment and you made me a little bit curious. Did you do an au pair, or are you currently doing it? Your comment was posted some time ago but I still would be happy about an answer hehe. I hope you got happy and life should be about wasting time! Btw I’m also thinking about doing an au pair in Australia :)
Hai it's my first time being Au Pair and I'm very like your video even I'm feeling nervous because many people say that au pair scam but I see your video I'm very interested in being part now
Sandy, I'm in my sixties, (62 - my wife older - 68 nearly seventies in fact), we have children and grandchildren, and if you'd been living with us, I'd have been deeply impressed...you're very special and not especially typical of all applicants...so why is this?
Wow, u are really heart warming , besides that your English accent and your fluency in English is perfect , thanks for sharing your nice experience with us
:-) Denn great things never came from comfort zones 😊
is only my comment from 2018? XD Hello Sandyyyy! *screaming a loud* lol my name is Sarah from Indonesia. Recently i really want to be au pair and I want go to Europe so much. So That's why I sign up to AupairWorld and put England in my profile. But during research is hard to find video about Aupair in England, dunno why. Your video made my spirit up to make a contact with host family in England. I just wanna say thank you and wishes me luck
Hey! I am going to go to London to be as an au pair.. I'm really happy I found your video. I would like to live there for one year or more and then I would like to find school and just start a new life in England. Thanks to you I can see it is possible :) Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us :) That is absolutey true! We need to live our dream now and never let our fear stop us from anything! :)
Great video really helpful but i disagree about the freedom and not working 9-5 thing, being an au pair is super long hours, even when kids are at school you still have housework to do, also be prepared if thinking about becoming an au pair that you might get children that are badly behaved and will try to test the au pair, especially if they are used to having au pairs (i have this issue now) LOL
I´m going to leave Germany on 30.6.2017. This video makes me even more excited and nervous. London, the other country and the family is going to be an amazing expericance :D
You're amazing! this video helped me to decide that I want be an au pair in 100%. I'll go to Polish university from October and I want spend my whole holidays (4 months) on looking after kids in England, cause I love this country and I feel like it's my place on Earth and naturally, I love kids . I don't have much experience in looking after children, but I did it of course and moreover I don't have my driving licence yet- I'm having my exam soon, but I can fail it. Do you think that these two things can be an obstacle in being an au pair? PS. Your accent is incredible and honestly I thought you're English
Really good experience yours, you were also lucky to find that kind of family and I hope to find the same when, and I say "when", I resolve that I HAVE to do this experience as soon as possible because it would enrich me for sure, as it's happen to you...and I think you just got to send the message you wanted to with your amazing story. What I'd like to ask you is which was your level of English before becoming an au pair? Your English in the video is perfect, you'd easily be taken for an English girl! The second thing I would ask you is what kind of job is yours now? I'm seriously planning to move to London from Italy on September to find a job...even if now you've definitely convinced me that the au pair is the best way to begin a new life in England...!
Nice video! I wish i can visit England. I'm an au pair in the Netherlands and i enjoy it! One of the best part of au pair life is to travel. I have videos too i hope you can watch. By the way you have a cute shirt i love the printed ice cream :)
Hii thank you so much for having make this very helpul video, I'm about to be an au pair in like 2 weeks in London for at least a year and now I'm just strating to get sooo nervous, I didn't thought I will be as nervous so to have watch your video makes me remind why I have choose to go and bring me back all the excitement I'm feeling since I have found my family in february. And I think I'm even mofe excited , can't wait o discover London by the way if tou have any advices to give me about being a. Au pair especially in London, places I have to see or whatever olease let me know! And if there is here any girls about to be an au pair in London also let me know it would be great to meet up :)
Juste Nihad Hi Juste - I am yure you will meet lots of other girls - your agency will put you in contact with them :) Its wonderful to read your comment ♥
thanks for getting me back , unfortunately I'm here for only a week and half and I'm having the worst time ever, I cry everyday , kids are so rude , the host family is never here, I feel lonely and lost. I'm looking to leave them but it's hard to find a new host family ..
Really good video! :D You just got me way more excited about being an au pair. But I am still pretty nervous.... You said you did study while you were working as an au pair, How did you manage to have time to it? and how is the teaching over there? I am thinking about studying whilst I'm there aswell but I am worrying about not having time to enjoy my stay there(stressing about all the things I have to do) I hope you will answer my question? x
Hi Camilla! Thank you for your lovely comment - I only started studying after the first 6 months as an au-pair and had special regulations with my hostfamily then. In general I would probably recommend one or the other :) hope this helps?
Portia Mkhwanazi It depends on the family and the ages of children but basically you take care of the children like a nanny, drop them/pick them at school, play with them, help them with daily routines + light houseworks (sometimes you also have to cook). The salary min is 70£ and max 100£ (I had a family who paid me 150£)
Hello ! Loved the video, really useful. I'm French, I'm 17 and I want to do Au Pair in England or USA... But, my teachers said that if I do Au Pair now, it will be difficult for me to restart my studies after... I really need advices, I want to do it, it's my dream and I see that you still live in England and that's my dream too... I really live the children and housework don't bother me... I'm really comfortable writing in English (as you can see) but talking is more difficult...
I'm really interested on becoming an au pair, but going through an agency it's mor formal to have a permission to work in the UK... So my question is, how did you deal with this permission? Not even as an au pair, but for work in the UK??? I'd love to hear about it, I'm from Mexico by the way.
Hallo, eine wichtige Frage :) Ich habe schon eine Familie in London gefunden. Wie sieht es aus mit Versicherung? Wo, wie, wann? Kann mir da jemand helfen. Das wäre super toll 😀😀
I'm thinking to be a part of au pair I need work right now and I'm a litle bit scared about this and I want to work in switzerland there is a possibility?
Hi, I really liked this video. A friend of mine is currently living in london and she is thinking about looking after kids. To be honest she has a job interview in a couple of days but she's extremely nervous. She doesn't working experience in this area and her english is not good enough. Based on that, What would youu recommend her ?
hallo i am sonit tamang. I am working as an aupair in Germany . So next year also i want to apply as an aupair in UK. Is it possible for one male aupair in UK? plz can you answer me..
Would you recommend to have a lot of babysitting experience before doing an Au pair year or do you think it's enough if I only had 2 little babysitting jobs by now?
Hi :) I want to go to Spain as an au pair. Now I have will a few skype calls with the families, and I'm really nervous about that ,i'm scared that I will be saying some wrongs things and they won't understand me. So have you got any tips ,what to say and what not to say ,when you are calling with them ? I know that they don't expect that I will be the best in English ,but I want to like them, so I need some advice :)
i have a question. whats your salary?? cause there is a host family in UK, they agree to pay me 1200 pound monthly. i wonder if i will be cheated??? cause normaly, the host family pay 300-500 pounds/month.
SandyMakesSense yes! But my the first thing my friend did when I told her, she sent me articles about one Au Pari who got killed and another who got overworked. I don’t want to believe it is THAT dangerous but I don’t really know what to think. I want to find a good organization and so, which one did you have?
Hi😄😉 I was wondering how do I find that agency which you talked about.. I just look on Au pair page about all the available job and already ive found an English family tho..
Hi thanks for sharing please I want to know for asking visa as an au pair do I need language stratification though I have B.H in English studies. I am from Morocco by the way . I also want to know how could you complete your studies while you came as an au pair does the ambassador accept to extand in your visa ? Thank you
hi sandy. i also interested being an au pair but just wondering how about the visa and flight ticket? will the family support for those things or it should me on us? thank you and nice video!
Hello! :) most of the time you would be responsible for these kinda things yourself. I guess it depends which agency you would go with, but in general you would have to pay for the flight etc :) hope this helps!
+Elizabeth Schiada Hey! No most agencies don't do that. At least not the flight. I don't really know how things would work in terms of a Visa as I didn't need one when I came :( Sorry
Hiiiii! You're really awesome :) I needed these words ;) I begin my adventure as AuPair in UK. You can give me write name of agences AUpair in UK? I don't know which is a best :( Please, let me know.;)
If I wanted to be an au pair in Germany would I need to be fluent? I'm in Deutsch 2 in an American high school right now, but I'm not fluent. I'm really interested in going there any tips?
Mikayla Anne Hi! I am from Austria and I am going to be an au pair in England so I don't know exactly how good your German has to be. I think you don't have to be fluent in German since most German/Austrian families speak English aswell and so they could help you at the beginning. I'd reccomend to contact an au pair agency and ask them about it. Don't be afraid that your German isn'T good enough!!! If you really want to be an au pair in Germany the language should not prevent you from becoming one!!! The agency that helped me to find a family is called "au pair 4 you" it's an Austrian agency. There is also a German agency called "travelworks" but I'm sure there are also some American agency which can help you. I hope I could help you Nora
Mikayla Anne No, you don't have to be fluent! I'm leaving to be an au pair in Germany in a month and I was told that I don't need to know any German at all, as long as I take a German language class while I'm there! :)
hello! Could you tell me from which country you are ? I am from non-Eu country, that's I want to know if it possible to me work as an au-pair in England?
Hey! Thanks for that video, It is inspiring! I will have a master degree in Biology, and I wanna move to London after my studies. I am thinking of trying to be aupair for a couple of months at least, because I dought I could get a biology job easily, and because it could be could. I am doughting a bit, is that a good plan? And I think I'm even mofe excited , can't wait o discover London by the way if tou have any advices to give me about being a. Au pair especially in London, places I have to see or whatever olease let me know! And if there is here any girls about to be an au pair in London also let me know it would be great to meet up :)

thanks for getting me back , unfortunately I'm here for only a week and half and I'm having the worst time ever, I cry everyday , kids are so rude , the host family is never here, I feel lonely and lost. I'm looking to leave them but it's hard to find a new host family ..
Exactly what i needed atm😊
Really good video! :D You just got me way more excited about being an au pair. But I am still pretty nervous.... You said you did study while you were working as an au pair, How did you manage to have time to it? and how is the teaching over there? I am thinking about studying whilst I'm there aswell but I am worrying about not having time to enjoy my stay there(stressing about all the things I have to do)
I hope you will answer my question? x
Hi Camilla! Thank you for your lovely comment - I only started studying after the first 6 months as an au-pair and had special regulations with my hostfamily then. In general I would probably recommend one or the other :) hope this helps?
How did you continued living in London after the au pair?
How i wish to become an aupair in Uk
Hi Sandy, I would to be an au pair . I need you to help me know how much an au pair has to be paid in the UK and what your entitled to.
Portia Mkhwanazi It depends on the family and the ages of children but basically you take care of the children like a nanny, drop them/pick them at school, play with them, help them with daily routines + light houseworks (sometimes you also have to cook). The salary min is 70£ and max 100£ (I had a family who paid me 150£)
Am so interested but am in Nigeria, I have five years of experience as a housekeeper here in Nigeria how do u get a trusted agency
Only the fact that you wrote this comment shows me you're English is good enough!!!! :)
Glad to know it ! But I'm afraid of talking in front of people... I don't know it's a bit weird to be honest 😂
I'm really interested on becoming an au pair, but going through an agency it's mor formal to have a permission to work in the UK... So my question is, how did you deal with this permission? Not even as an au pair, but for work in the UK??? I'd love to hear about it, I'm from Mexico by the way.
Did you take a gap year after highschool?
How can we get a family?!
Sandy what lipstick are you wearing in this video?
Hi sandy im from the Philippines &im 43 can i still be an aupair?and how?
Hi i am Anis from Bali, i want to ask you. Do you provide visa and flight ticket by Host Family?

Would you recommend to have a lot of babysitting experience before doing an Au pair year or do you think it's enough if I only had 2 little babysitting jobs by now?
Hi :) I want to go to Spain as an au pair. Now I have will a few skype calls with the families, and I'm really nervous about that ,i'm scared that I will be saying some wrongs things and they won't understand me. So have you got any tips ,what to say and what not to say ,when you are calling with them ? I know that they don't expect that I will be the best in English ,but I want to like them, so I need some advice :)
Great video!! Thank you for your insight! How did you meet the other au pairs working near you? Were they girls from the same agency?
Thank you :)
Hi Laura, my hostmum introduced me to them because she was friends with all the other "au pair mums" :D
Okay! Thank you! What a great experience! I love your au pair videos!
Do you have to pay any tax ? Since u do get paid while you are there
i have a question. whats your salary?? cause there is a host family in UK, they agree to pay me 1200 pound monthly. i wonder if i will be cheated??? cause normaly, the host family pay 300-500 pounds/month.
+Sophie Lee Hi Sophia - Yes that seems like a lot! I earned 320 pounds per month
Ask for this to promise to be in writing and that you have at least a copy.
Do they pay for your ticket?
I want this
Being an au pair?
SandyMakesSense yes! But my the first thing my friend did when I told her, she sent me articles about one Au Pari who got killed and another who got overworked. I don’t want to believe it is THAT dangerous but I don’t really know what to think. I want to find a good organization and so, which one did you have?
If you go with an official agency then there is nothing dangerous about it :)
SandyMakesSense Thank you, what agency would you recomend.
your english so perfect
+MosLatencyNxc Vlog tv Thank youuu - its not perfect but I am trying my best :)
+SandyMakesSense
yp & actually how to Pronunciation & speech so correctly ..glad to hear something new from you Sandy :)
:)
Hello, how did you go about having an extended visa after your Aupair year ended?
Hi😄😉 I was wondering how do I find that agency which you talked about.. I just look on Au pair page about all the available job and already ive found an English family tho..
Gasper Kolesa Which agency please ?
Hi thanks for sharing please I want to know for asking visa as an au pair do I need language stratification though I have B.H in English studies. I am from Morocco by the way . I also want to know how could you complete your studies while you came as an au pair does the ambassador accept to extand in your visa ? Thank you
Hi
Need to submit any proof of money from an aupair
Did you speak German or English to the children? :)
hi sandy. i also interested being an au pair but just wondering how about the visa and flight ticket? will the family support for those things or it should me on us? thank you and nice video!
Hello! :) most of the time you would be responsible for these kinda things yourself. I guess it depends which agency you would go with, but in general you would have to pay for the flight etc :) hope this helps!
Do agencies pay for your flight, work visa and all that before you leave for the country you'll be an au pair for?
+Elizabeth Schiada Hey! No most agencies don't do that. At least not the flight. I don't really know how things would work in terms of a Visa as I didn't need one when I came :( Sorry
Wonderful video - thank you :)
Lucy Alice Whitten Hi Lucy! thank you :)

Hello there, I am from Indonesia. Can I sign up for au pair in England?
Sure! Why not!
@@SandyMakesSense even I am male and I can't speak Germany?
Hiiiii! You're really awesome :) I needed these words ;) I begin my adventure as AuPair in UK. You can give me write name of agences AUpair in UK? I don't know which is a best :( Please, let me know.;)
hey sorry what are you saying in 5:03?? 'i went...'
I went full throttle in this house.....
oh thanks, i've never heard this expression before!
I hope I could help you
Nora
Mikayla Anne No, you don't have to be fluent! I'm leaving to be an au pair in Germany in a month and I was told that I don't need to know any German at all, as long as I take a German language class while I'm there! :)
Hey! No you don't have to be fluent :) as long as you're able to communicate it's absolutely fine. I didn't know many words when I arrived :D
SandyMakesSense Thank you! :D
+Sandra S Hi Sandra! Ja genau, zuerst studiert und dann Arbeit gesucht :)
hello! Could you tell me from which country you are ? I am from non-Eu country, that's I want to know if it possible to me work as an au-pair in England?
Its not impossible to become an Aupair when you aren´t from an EU Country. You´ll just need a Visa to get into the UK.
thank you :)

Why are Germans so cold and reserved towards other Germans but so warm and polite to Auslanders?
