I just watch your videos for improve my English. You have fluently speech and you use simple words. It’s perfect for my b1 level. I understand 99% of your speech. Thank you, Sandy ❤️
I just discovered your channel and gosh, I'd love to speak english as fluently as you ! I'm French et even if I learned english at school, I have such a bad level now. I can barely speak english so I'm trying to improve it and your videos are very helpful ! I kind of understand everything that you say and I think that I will keep watching your videos :) Please don't stop doing this ! PS : your accent is perfect, it's like it's your native langage !
Amber TeeCat thank you :) but I think English is way much easier than french ! especially because we are listening to English everyday... I am watching movies and series in English and it's very helpful to learn this language... you should try to watch some french movies or you can download series in french version, it could be helpful. But I agree, french is very difficult :)
Hi Sandy! My name is Isabela and I'm brazilian. I'm about to go to london on march to learn english and work as an au pair on a family house. I work in a school of english here in brazil as a secretary and I've never had an english course in my intire life, because I never could pay for it. All a know of english I've learned by myself, by reading books and watching movies or series, and now working at this school, where I can do it for free. Well...I just want to say that your videos are helping me A LOT! You have no idea of how helpful they are! Just keep doing this marvelous job and helping others peoples by encouraging them to know other cultures and learn other languages. You're increadible! Thanks Xx
You are amazing and very positive person. I am a Pole and in the future I will be going to college bound up with English (I hope). So your movie was very helpful for me :*
The good thing about learning English is that it's so widely spread and especially the internet is full of English and English ressources. From my personal experience, that makes it a whole lot easier than learning most other languages. A few things that I do are for example switching my phone language or the language of social networks to my target language and just try to get around with it. Also, I try to keep the language or the vocabulary present every day with the aid of apps, podcasts, chats, groups, blogs, etc. I actually love reading classics and don't find it too hard but that's probably just me :'D Those are also easily accessible as PDF files to read on a e-book reader or on your phone. Writing is a good practice, too. No matter whether you chat with a native or a fluent speaker, you write diary entries or let your texts get corrected on the internet. I found a method that I hope will help me to learn grammar and vocublary on a regular basis: me and my friend each have a language outside of school that we would like to learn so we came up with the idea of writing little stories for one another that we try to translate. Through this, I'm actually using what I learned and learn random vocabulary, too. The last thing that I can come up with right now is music. Listening to foreign music is probably the most enjoyable way to learn any language. Keep an eye out on songs in your target language that you like and look up and translate the lyrics if you need to and start singing along! Songs will make it much more likely that the words you learn will stick to your mind and you get familiar with the intonation. All the best!
I absolutely love the way you sound when you speak English! ♥ Personally, writing and talking isn't a big deal for me but I'd just love to have a British accent... Maybe you could do a video about accents and how you got yours?

I really love your videos.. I am still in school, but after school I want to go to America as an au pair.. so you're helping me a lot with my english, keep it up gurl! :) Greeting from Czech Republic
Great tips, I've tried most of them before and it does work. Music may also be helpful... listening to all kinds of chansons helped me improving my French quite a bit. And whenever I qouted any of those songs around French people they were always quite amused and surprised that I even knew their music that well 😄
I just commented on another video but I just want to add, you definitely have a british accent going . USA english (maybe New England english? or Bostonian?) we emphasize the frus in frustrated a little more. progress sounds more like prawgress. just to point out a few. very adorable!
You're great! Watching your videos, I'm really more confident to follow my dream to live abroad! Thanks for sharing your experience! I'll watch all your the videos! :)
I am learning German, and your advice works well for english speakers as well. Germans are so kind when you try to speak their language! (Ich lese jetzt "Harry Potter" auf deutsch:))
Some good tips from you, especially about the reading topic. I read a lot of books in english to stay sharp. I did read the Harry Potter books (Harald Töpfer ;-) which were good and fluently to read but Lord of the Rings... OMG, never again in English! What I do is watching movies and TV shows in english with english subtitels. That way I can read what has been said when I didn´t understand a word or sentence. And, most important: if there is a lot of text spoken in a short period of time it´s too fast and too much for the subtitles. They solve the problem by shortening the subs using similar expressions or other linguistic methods to give you a similar meaning of what has been spoken in a shorter way. If you watch movies that way you can learn even more English at the same time by realising: Oh, you can say THIS in a shorter way like THAT. That´s my tip
I started watching movies in English about 7 years ago. I still use the subtitles to help me understand. But I watched Star Wars 7 in English in the cinema and it was really easy to understand, even without subtitles. Additionally I couldn't find the remote control in the cinema to switch them on :'D
I'm currently reading Harry Potter in English :D Sadly they only have all books at the library, so I can read books 3, 6 and 7. And book 8 (Cursed Child) I have bought in English, because it wasn't available in German at that time yet
Instead of trying a longer 19thC classic like Oliver Twist, try a short novella like Christmas Carol. Try Animal Farm and Of Mice and Men. They're, as novels go, short classics. You can always try toughies like Fairy Queen, Paradise Lost or Middlemarch later.
My greatest tip is to get a penpal on tandem . That's an app for improving your conversation skills in foreign languages . You can chat or call with native speakers:) I'm also german , 14 years old and this app really did help me :) I'd say i got really good at English and that I can speak to others in English fluently even though I'm not fluent in it if that makes sense 😂. Of course I still got to learn a lot of words that you don't usually use in Conversations like "acceleration" .When I grow up , I wanna live in London like you 'cause London is amazing . I really like your videos and I'm really impressed of your accent .
Yt Monsta Hi that sounds pretty much like me. (14 y/o, interested in English, German) I got interested in the English language because of my older sister. She told me a good way to improve my English is to read books so I did ( ruby red, sapphire blue) I can say after that my vocabulary skills are way better, not the best but they're pretty good. After all that I wanned to have a pen pal, so I started using interpals. There I started to realise that I love to talk in English. A big wish I have is to do an exchange year in England but that's so expensive 😅. I wanna live in England so badly 😄
Stift I wanna do an exchange trip too but as u already said it's expensive :( I'm interested in English since 2nd grade :) yeah it's cool to talk to native speakers because you can find out how it is to live there . I have a friend from NYC and she always tells me the craziest storys of her school like about 10y/o drug dealers and so on :)
Stift cool :) Actually I'm half Russian and half German :) i was born there . I think it's better to also chat with natives :) just check Tandem out :)
That’s really a nice video! I am kind of more into watching! So yeah, i do watch a lot of tv shows, movies in English . And also I’ve recently started reading books. I can easily understand what other says, but the thing I lag in is speaking. I was wandering whether reading books can help me with this ? Thank you!
Idk why I can understand very well foreigners when they speak english but not native speakers! Also I want to learn german a lot of! Could you give me some tips in order to achieve it?
Certain English accents are very, very strong and difficult for even Americans to understand. If you are learning English start with American or Canadien English which are the easiest
Hi :) Sorry for asking Sandy, but How old are you? i am 19 and i would like to follow your steps, i wish i had the opportunity to reach that goal(living in London)
Exactly that is the reason why I've decided to vlog in English. I always recognize a lot of mistakes in my language, if I cut the video. But in my opinion it is the same with a lots of things in the world: you will be better if you try it and try it and try it again. :) And to watch your videos is an incentive as well, to become better with my speaking. :)
Hi sandy! First of all, I love your videos! I'm a quite new subscriber but I love everything about your channel :) I'm thinking about moving to London in a couple of years so it's interesting to see your videos and learn a little more about the city. Also, I was wondering if you could do a video where you talk about your favourite places to just walk around? Nice neighbourhoods with pretty houses or stunning views? I really hope you'll do this cause I really enjoy great walks :D /El
I think that all of these tips really could help you to learn english:). And I really enjoy reading english books and watching english movies. When I started watching english movies, i first watched all my favourite 'childhood-dvds':D like Barbie& Disney movies.:) Now i sometimes watch english tv and also read 'normal' english books like 'the fault in our stars', 'Girl online', 'Twilight', .... In my opinion reading a lot of english books and watching movies is one of the best ways to learn english:) you have fun & learn the new language very well:) I hope that I learn to speak a very good english because one day i want to live in GB:) [I'm german too;) ]
I used to know a German guy who had a Spanish girlfriend and neither of them spoke the others language but they both spoke English good enough. I think it worked for them.
Well I read classics and I think my level of english is not as high as yours. But I think classics are always difficult and many German people also take a long time to read german classics so I guess the same might be true for english native speakers and english classics.. I think it depends on if you enjoy reading classics and I generally do, so I also read them in english :-)
a slightly odd question when you speak in ENGLISH do you still think in GERMAN, (the 2languages flow differently so i wondered if it made a difference )
Hi! I am Max and I'm Italian. There is a problem on my english I think, and the problem is that I'm good in english and my level is quite high but I know it is not like a native english speaker, I have been in London many times and I've even studied there but I feel I cannot improve my level, Can you suggest me what to do? Thanks
Max Hello, Max. First of all, your English is very good. But if you want to improve it, I think that you just have to speak English as much as possible and try reading and watching everything in English. By the way, the British have weird accents so you can't be blamed for being confused by them.
This is what I actually do. I have got lots of english friends and I always speak english with them. I see lots of films in english and I watch english tv. Thanks By the way
I moved to Germany and I will be here for 2 years and German is so complicated, im trying to learn some but it's very hard 😔 whenever me or my parents try and order in German, people seem to just get annoyed and respond in English 😁😥
+Karis Johnson Yep. I've been living in Germany 5 years and people sometimes compliment me on my German abilities but I tell you it's been a struggle!! People mostly don't find it cute when you try to practise your German with them and will switch to English just to get the conversation over. They often don't know how to just slow down or simplify a little so that you have a chance to stay in German and improve. What's more, German TV sucks! I watch it solely as a task to improve my German but there are so few programs worth following (yeeeeees I know 'Tatort'; already but what else is there??). Most films worth watching are originally in English and German voiceovers just sound odd and misplaced with no background noise, plus the subtitles rarely match the voice, they seem to adapt them so that less text is required.
I think 'discouraging' someone from reading classics isn't good. My first few english books were Harry Potter and Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. To be fair, I've read both in german before, which helped immensely, but I'd say read whatever interests you. :)
There are a few classics that I think would work even for those that are not fluent in English. Eg the "Jeeves-series" by Wodehouse. The thing with them is that they are funny, and you don't need to understand every word to enjoy the book. And as far as "understanding every word" goes: the "Jeeves-series" is likely to have everybody looking in their dictionaries, if they rally want to understand every word: Wodehouse seems to use either made up words, or slang from the time the books are set in (1910-1930), making understanding every single word a challenge.
I am with you on P.G.Wodehouse. Very funny although maybe a bit outdated for the young generation. What Sandy says - immersion is the key. Although I like British English as everything British - I am a true Anglophile - much better than American English my ears are more accustomed to Americans as I listen to lots of informative stuff on YT. Of course I bought myself some British TV series like Midsomer Murders, Judge John Deed, Green Wings etc. but I still find like in Last Tango in Halifax in which they use Yorkshire dialect I couldn't understand half of it in the beginning. But I've got used to it fast. And I found the app Filton TV which gives access to live British TV. Great! I still hate not being able to get rid of my German accent ie not being able to employ a decent British accent. Have been checking out dialect coaches on YT. And I find myself still making mistakes in my YT tutorials. But coming back to the point I still find it a disgrace not being offered British Television or undubbed British or American movies and TV series on the telly. For a while I could watch BBC Entertainment. No wonder the Dutch, Swedish etc. all speak English fluently. And whatever you want to use - books or videos - simply choose something of your interest. Forget about levels. It'll come.
+Mabel Marble Interesting that you should mention Sweden, since that is where I live. And I can admit: I _love_ the fact that most TV-shows are broadcast in the original language, with Swedish subtitles. I grew up in another European country, where everything was dubbed to the local language, and a lot was lost in translation. Plus it looks a bit silly when the mouth movements you see on the screen don't in any way correspond to the sound you hear.. As for TV-shows (or films) to watch I would recommend Monty Python and Blackadder: both are comedies, so understanding every word is not that important. And also the comedy is very good. Not in the typical American way in which the comedy is meant to make everybody laugh, but in the more educated British way, in which the viewer needs a certain level of education to see the comedy. It doesn't suit everybody, but I like it.
+xpqr12345 how could I miss to mention Blackadder?! One of my favourites with the elite of British actors in it, like Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry and of course Tony Robinson as Baldrick "I have a cunning plan". 😂 And although Montag Python is a classic I would probably recommend the more recent Little Britain featuring such memorable characters as Sebastian "Wha'ever", Dafydd the only gaya in the village Andy Pippin etc. What you mentioned about the mouth not moving in sync with what's being said I actually never noticed it. Probably because I was so used to it.
Thank you for sharing the tips, Sandy! I'll try what you recommended!! By the way, do you have any recommended German books? What kind of books in German did you read? It's embarrassing, but my vocabulary of German is still poor, so I'd like to increase them with enjoying! Could you tell me your recommended books or movies in German, if you don't mind..? Thanks again and hope your fabulous videos:)
Also Swedish and Danish they are very good an English they are top one or two I am not sure they can speak English like native speakers even it not they language and Netherlands as well but for me I think Sweden and Denmark are the best English speakers even though they are not they language
whatching tv shows helped me a lot because you get used to the characters and the way they speak. maybe as a beginner you should not start with a show like house of cards in which many polical type of words are used i guess :D
The only reason I speak english quite good is an online game :D I started to play the game about 5 years ago and I found myself on an american server and because I didn't know anything about the game I ended up talking to someone from south africa and yeah, we're still friends nowadays :D what really helped me to practise my british accent was watching loads of british tv series, like Doctor Who or Sherlock, but I always watch them with english subtitles, just because if someone's talking really fast I don't understand it and so I can read it and everything's hunky-dory :D Oh and the website "penpalworld.com" helped me to get in touch with people from England. That's pretty good because I think about moving to the UK and that could be really helpful :) Soo, I guess that's it for now :D Please never stop doing videos! :)
I see all films and séries without subtitles easy. I do this since my 6 years old, I think that english it's my 2nd mother tongue. I love to write poems in english and little stories. My level of speaking is better than my writting skills.
it is the first time to me in your channel , does any one told you before that you have a best face in the world before ? if not , well i will be the one .
Hey :)i understand english und the meaning of words better, when i look series with subtitles. its totally motivating when you understand more and more. when you like the series or the characters in it, its easier for me. That's my motivation! ;) sorry, for mistakes :D :P
@@tinah.555 If you think Americans have potatoes in their gobs, try listening to Danish. Glottal stops, missed and slurred syllables...... you name it. Although Swedish is very similar and the written languages are mutually intelligible, most Swedes totally give up with spoken Danish.
+SandyMakesSense Yup one of the worst language in world you speak at home is german language :p I started to learn then I stopped :p getting prepare to move to germany very soon better give some advice about german language and upload it. this is what i can do for yo is title is How to improve your german. :p

Really happy to read this :)
in Holland we have no dubbed movies. they're subtitled. which is why we all speak good English but with an American accent
So lucky :) Since I came to England I completely stopped watching dubbed movies. It's kinda wrong :D

I guess when she’s talking English she thinks in English and when she’s talking German she thinks in German🤷🏻♀️
Really nice. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Sandy!!!!

Also, I was wondering if you could do a video where you talk about your favourite places to just walk around? Nice neighbourhoods with pretty houses or stunning views? I really hope you'll do this cause I really enjoy great walks :D
/El
Hi Elin! This is a great idea :) I'd love to do that soon :)
A German girl called Astrid (I think) has a marvellous video about out-of-the-way places to visit in London - watch?v=mBjSKsyDu-g
I'm reading english books, watching films and tv shows in english and playing games in english :D It really helped me!
same
I already do everything you say in your video... So I think the next step for me is study English in my University or moving to England...
Do it!!! :)
+SandyMakesSense It's difficult because my father doesn't understand me and the need I have to move haha but I will. Thank you !
In my opinion reading a lot of english books and watching movies is one of the best ways to learn english:) you have fun & learn the new language very well:)
I hope that I learn to speak a very good english because one day i want to live in GB:)
[I'm german too;) ]
You are good!!!!
I think it depends on if you enjoy reading classics and I generally do, so I also read them in english :-)
you are amazing
I wich you the best of luke thank you
Love your videos! :D
Does this apply to German as well? I just started learning German at school. :D
So beautiful!
Oh! Thank you :)
Beautiful is what you are in English.
a slightly odd question when you speak in ENGLISH
do you still think in GERMAN,
(the 2languages flow differently so i wondered if it
made a difference )
A lot of English people don't even get as far as two pages!
have you been watching Dickensian on the box ?
+Craigzy for sure! i dont have german tv either cause we live on an american base here and we can get us tv 😯
I love your accent.
Thank you Eduardo!!!
I need to video chat someone like you, to practice my English. I really love your accent.
Hi Sumiya! Actually I don't read any German books :( but German movies that I like are for example all of the ones with Till Schweiger
Also Swedish and Danish they are very good an English they are top one or two I am not sure they can speak English like native speakers even it not they language and Netherlands as well but for me I think Sweden and Denmark are the best English speakers even though they are not they language
very helpful video!! :)
Thank you!!!!
whatching tv shows helped me a lot because you get used to the characters and the way they speak. maybe as a beginner you should not start with a show like house of cards in which many polical type of words are used i guess :D
The only reason I speak english quite good is an online game :D I started to play the game about 5 years ago and I found myself on an american server and because I didn't know anything about the game I ended up talking to someone from south africa and yeah, we're still friends nowadays :D what really helped me to practise my british accent was watching loads of british tv series, like Doctor Who or Sherlock, but I always watch them with english subtitles, just because if someone's talking really fast I don't understand it and so I can read it and everything's hunky-dory :D
Oh and the website "penpalworld.com" helped me to get in touch with people from England. That's pretty good because I think about moving to the UK and that could be really helpful :)
Soo, I guess that's it for now :D
Please never stop doing videos! :)
Oh Shit, gutesMädchen, läuft bei dir 👍👍
I see all films and séries without subtitles easy. I do this since my 6 years old, I think that english it's my 2nd mother tongue. I love to write poems in english and little stories. My level of speaking is better than my writting skills.
I would say you are smart girl. love you from Saudi

Cool maybe I should try to read this too!
it is the first time to me in your channel , does any one told you before that you have a best face in the world before ? if not , well i will be the one .
Hey :)i understand english und the meaning of words better, when i look series with subtitles. its totally motivating when you understand more and more. when you like the series or the characters in it, its easier for me. That's my motivation! ;) sorry, for mistakes :D :P
Pretty Little Liars for example!
schneewind22 You mean "when I watch shows with subtitles", not "when I look series with subtitles". Other then that, your English is good.
German accents are awesome you should keep it.
Haha not trying to get rid of it :)
Wonderbar I think that's German for excellent?
+ryan gonzalez it's wunderbar :)
+Its Cece I am from America we can't spell anyway (our feet are the same) which is German for good by. haha.
Greetings from mexico⚫▫▪
🙈
Remember that most English words are Anglo-Saxon words and come from northern Germany.
Autocorrect all the way!! :)
very useful video! thanx dear! Could you help me to improve my english, if it's possible, can we chat by skype) thnx in advance!
sorry my english is to bad do read in english
@@tinah.555 If you think Americans have potatoes in their gobs, try listening to Danish. Glottal stops, missed and slurred syllables...... you name it. Although Swedish is very similar and the written languages are mutually intelligible, most Swedes totally give up with spoken Danish.
+SandyMakesSense Yup one of the worst language in world you speak at home is german language :p I started to learn then I stopped :p getting prepare to move to germany very soon better give some advice about german language and upload it. this is what i can do for yo is title is How to improve your german. :p
