@MidLifeRunner, I tell my wife she gets mile 26 and also gets the last .2 because she motivates me more than anyone else. Nothing can push you beyond your limits like the love and motivation from the one you love most.
Absolutely incredible, Andrew!! Such a great effort, dude. Well done. Sub-3 is right around the corner. I dream of 3:02 marathons… super proud of ya, waaaankkaah!
Thanks, man. Well, I’ve only been running for a couple years so yeah I really have done well! Imagine how good I’ll be when I’m a midlifer like you… oh, I am a midlifer aren’t I. 😂
Well done Andrew! Thanks for sharing your journey with us. As a later life runner (62) who ran the Houston Half and missed my A goal of sub-1:50 by a bit (1:52:20), I deeply appreciate how well you frame this experience in positive terms. Keep the good vibes coming!
Wow - you’re crushing it! All about the journey. I think if I break 3 in the next one or in a couple of years, this still might be my favorite marathon experience. Will be hard to top
Thanks for making 30 minutes of my treadmill run way less boring with this awesome video. Seriously awesome stuff. Yours is the only channel of which i watch EVERY video. Can't wait for season 2.
This was amazing, I'm so happy for you Andrew - for your pb, for enjoying the race so much and for all the love and support you're getting from the running community.
This made my TM warmup and cooldown fly by! It’s too funny and entertaining to have watched it during the 400s/800s sandwiched between😅 The stuff about YOURWIFE is adorable. You were absolutely right, of course, that you have enough presence in the running world to have gotten plenty of recognition and shoutouts. What a thrill to have Kofuzi cheering you on to the finish line, and also the elusive, beloved steevie76 shouting his heart out for you (SOMEday we’re going to track him down in person😂) Funny thing about all the YOURWIFE bits is that MYHUSBAND (who serves as my Run Caddie quite often) is the opposite, despite my not having a running channel whatsoever, let alone thousands of followers like you.
I love this! especially the part where you talk about mile 26. To have someone push you when you are suffering is one of the best feelings for me. Even though you didn't break 3, I still find it amazing. The journey and the battle are all worth it. I live for this stuff. 2025 is my time to try to break 3. I'll be in your shoes soon enough. Great job Andrew!
@MidLifeRunner Chucago 2025! You qualified for Chicago so sign up again and we can run it together. Although by then you probably would have broken 3 already.
So cool you got to show your wife that you’re sort of a big deal, and even cooler that Kofuzi featured you on his Houston video. Congrats on the PR! Great recap of the race. Can’t wait for Season 2 of Sub 3.
Great Job, Andrew! This has been a blast to follow this journey and I hope you make another attempt. I need Season 2!! I followed your race on the app and I was cheering in my living room every time you "BANG ON!" on your splits. I wish I could have been yelling for you on the sidelines.
Amazing, man. The whole story. Congratulations. So happy you had such a good time. After all that hard work plus documenting the journey, no-one deserves s PB more.
"No, I refuse..." Lol. I had that exact feeling at the exact same place!! I was trying to break 3:10, and my race was almost exactly like yours. Like eerily similar. Through 20, I was perfect. Then it just went south. Except Kofuzi didn't yell for me at any point.
This was GOLD 🤩 MYWIFE and the Ko full-circle story. WOW. I also am very envious that you actually know that @steevie 76 truly exists. Congrats, love your storytelling.
Seeing other athletes cheering each other on, always tears me up in the best way. The human spirit is massive when we do hard things. Congrats on the amazing race brother!
What a run! Seriously impressed by how quickly you've jumped into sub-3:00 territory as a new runner. It's inspiring, man. Looking forward to Season 2... 💪 Oh, and how great was that personal Kofuzi hype man moment!? 🤯

Thanks Neely - Saw a review on the Endorphin speed 4 this morning. Looks a lot like the 3 so it's going to be a pass for me. I'm not sure how you got along with them
@@MidLifeRunner I loved the Speed 1. The Speed 3 is ok, but nothing magical. I do appreciate them, since they came from the Mid Life King, and I've gotten 167 miles on them, but my favorite shoe in that category has been the Puma DN2. Let me revise, the Puma is my favorite I've run in. I love to go around the house saying "SC Traaaiiiinnnnn-uh" in my best Mid life Runner voice to drive my wife crazy, but I haven't actually run in them. Did buy her a pair for her trouble. @@MidLifeRunner that west coast idea sounds great!!! LA is pretty big and I was told that 2025 is the 40th Anniversary. Awesome. Looking forward to Season 2, Electric Boogaloo 😂. One comment, from my over 30 marathons of experience I have concluded that for me, carb loading is not helpful and in fact counterproductive. I now follow a low carb diet to train my body to burn more fat, then run the marathon mostly drinking water with a few Gatorades and one or two gels. You might want to try this in the future as it completely removes that bloated, heavy feeling that many get from eating a high carb diet.
Thanks for sharing your experience. It’s definitely something I want to explore down the line in an offseason where I can invest more time to get fat adapted
Lol you're going to get that shouted more and more as it's a fun thing to shout if you've got an excuse. What a catchphrase to end up with. Magnificent effort. Hope it takes a couple more goes - for the larks watching - but think it's going to be the next one.
Lol I would love to run London but would have to win the lottery to get in, twice . The marathon lottery and then the actually lottery to afford the trip
Great run, great recap, great entertainment. Bang on. PS Also documenting my training for a sub-3… which I do wonder how I’m going to get footage for. This gives me hope that it can successfully be done without much footage… but now I just need to learn how to be funny 😬
😂 I saw that you’ve settled on a race. I took a GoPro last year and I don’t think it affected my run performance that much . I was worried the recap with no footage would be a bit bland. But people who watch your channel are invested in the journey and want to hear about it . You don’t need B roll Or Jokes. I just don’t know any other way
Yep! It’s a two-lap course so that could be helpful from a footage perspective. Thanks for the reassurance on both sides of the coin - I have a loose plan in my head, but don’t want to put too much pressure on myself to film and hearing this definitely helps. Ha, you don’t need it… but WE need it 😅 PS I said ‘bang on’ THREE TIMES in my last video (parkrun pacing) which was after you’d mentioned it… think you got into my very British psyche 😂
As a fellow midlife wanker, American living in the UK even, I could hear that guy yelling at me in my head during my hard threshold run yesterday. So the motivation lives on.
Somehow I missed you at the finish. I was primed to give you the correct ’Wanker’ pronunciation, but anyway, perhaps I was distracted by the CPR and proposal happening at the same time. Regarding pacing. Have you considered an even paced strategy? I aim for that (especially on flat courses) as I hate the idea of leaving 2 mins or so on the table in the first half, and then trying to get a faster pace out of myself in the last part to make it up. I’m always trying to get to 21 on pace, and then it’s up to me. Being at 21 and a couple of minutes down is a tough spot in a tough spot. Just a thought. Great run! 👏👏
Would've loved the proper Wanka! shout out. I think for the next one I want to run a little closer to even pacing throughout. If I give up time, that means I have to run in front of goal marathon pace to get it back. And what if that is the thing burning too many matches? worth exploring
Its how my brain works. Been on both ends of it, but it felt a lot better when hanging on meant the prize was in front you (but just out of reach), rather than being behind and trying to pick it up in order to maybe catch a glimpse of it again. Great video on top of an incredible performance in Houston. I laughed, I cried and I can't wait for more. Also, I'm stealing your idea for my next marathon and writing down 26 names. What mile do you want?
I consumed probably around 1000 grams of carbs the day before the marathon and reduced my protein intake to 10%. 😂 I ate lots of ramen noodles and pasta.
Pace groups are often organized to target qualifying times for the Boston marathon. 3:05 happens to be the qualifying time for the men’s 35-39 age group, which is a common age for runners attempting a BQ.

I hope your wife doesn’t give you a strange look when I yell out your name at a shake-out run! Excellent work brother, cheers! 🎉

Did you say you ran in Off White shorts?! Swaggiest runner on the course lol!

Hell of an effort! And by “Dad Duty” you mean yelling at the kids to stop fighting- right?!
🎯 I laughed . Then I showed this to my wife . She laughed. Nailed it
I consumed probably around 1000 grams of carbs the day before the marathon and reduced my protein intake to 10%. 😂 I ate lots of ramen noodles and pasta.
Chicken, beef or shrimp?
Neither. It’s a spicy Korean ramen called Nong Shin I get from Costco.
The first rule of midlife running is…everyone talks about midlife running.
need it on a bumper sticker next to my 26.2

There’s actually a 3:05 pace group…? That’s just cruel… 😂
Pace groups are often organized to target qualifying times for the Boston marathon. 3:05 happens to be the qualifying time for the men’s 35-39 age group, which is a common age for runners attempting a BQ.
Love is disgusting 😂😂
