I just bought G9 and whole set of kase filters for my landscape photos. G9 is a very good camera, appreciate for your sharing!

That's awesome! Just got back from a short weekend of using my G9!
Kase filters are great! Love the sets I have.

Great set-up ... I shoot with an Olympus em10 mark ii, so my regular gear setup looks very similar to this. Super happy with it, I also have a couple of primes too.

Those are such great looking cameras (and capable too!). It is nice having a setup that can pack down pretty small!
I have a few other lenses - the 45-150 and a 25mm prime, but only taking the one lens for this trip.
      Thanks for watching!

The G9 is a great camera. I’ve traveled with the 12-40 f/2.8 or the 14-140 as the single lens. It’s a similar set up and super light. How are you liking MFT aside from travel?

    • @JeffreyTadlockPhotography
      @JeffreyTadlockPhotography  Год назад

I like the MFT world. Not sure it will replace my main Nikon system at the moment, but the software features of the cameras are great and pack a lot of punch into this systems.
Out of curiosity - what do you use for raw processing? I’ve had DXO mentioned to me a few times, especially in context with M43.

Since G9 has 20mp which is already pretty good and it also has the option for 80MP hi-res, what makes it not qualify to become one's primary landscape camera?
    What is your primary camera?

The G9 could certainly be a primary landscape camera. Very capable camera.
My primary landscape photography camera is a Nikon Z7ii.

I moved away from a Lumix G9 with the 12-35 f2.8 and 35-100 f2.8 lenses to a Fujifilm X-T3 with the 18-135 f3.5-f5.6. I really miss the G9, it was a little too big for my hands but I feel that the camera and lenses were a better combination than my new setup. Also as I saw you ask about this in another comment, DXO photolab is brilliant for MFT files (as it is for Fuji now it supports them).

I haven’t ever used a Fuji, beyond admiring their aesthetics. Thanks for the feedback on DXO! People seem to speak highly of it for MFT systems. I’ve even started having some Nikon shooters recommend it for lenses like 24-200 saying DXO does a better job than Lightroom/Camera RAW. Will definitely need to give it a try sometime.

I tried a separate system for travel, but it didn't work for me. So, I just take some of my regular gear. If I want "snapshots" I use my RX100 VII. For more serious shots I'll use my a6600 with my 24-70 GM II or 70-200 GM II to get out further. And for best quality, I'll use my A7RV with either GM lens. If I think I'll want to go wider I'll take the 14mm GM. If I want to go longer I'll take the 1.4x teleconverter. And a smaller tripod than I use at home, but still eye level.

There are definitely cons to a different system for travel - I should do a future video on some of those, as I tended to focus on the good things here.
For me, the bigger cons of a different system are:
      1) Leads to re-purchase of lenses - one for each camera system. Not a terrible expense in the M43 system, but not insignificant either.
      2) Menu systems is a big one. I know my Nikon menus pretty well - either directly where something is at, or at least a good guess where it will be.
      3) Muscle memory. I more intuitively know where my buttons are on the Nikon systems than when I break out the G9 (or GX85)
      Thanks for watching!

Makes a lot of sense to travel with a camera you're very familiar with. Same for firearms. Too many guys shoot with 10 different rifles and never get good with any.

@@meme4one Interesting that you mentioned firearms. I've used various brands over the years. But, mainly one brand at a time. I'm either all Glock or all S&W or all whatever at any particular time. I'm currently all Walther PPQ. I like the trigger and the grip.

@@PhotoTrekr best way mate, make it instinctive, not a hard lesson each time when it really matters. Fishing poles etc are the same too. All brands want to sell you something very specific for each situation but you're often better having less and knowing how to use it. 👍🏻
