23:16 skz survival show was a bit diff from normal survival shows. bang chan chose the members and then jyp decided to do the show to check if they are all fit to debut together. felix(cz he didnt know korean) and lee know(cz he had been a trainee for a month or so and couldnt sing/rap that well) were initially eliminated but bought back in the last episode where jyp would chose if they would all debut or only 7 members will debut bcz he liked the teamwork.
- I've been following a Canadian-Korean guy for 2 years almost, and he often says that in Korea the friendship between men is very much like that. It's the norm there. to hug or touch buts (Friends and consensual only of course).
This knowledge actually makes me very used to it. I don't see it as that sus anymore. and I think that more people should know that...
Like, if one of the members just sits on another member it's probably just close friendship and a feeling of family, and not something "Naughty" like many people say.
- YOU ARE CORRECT! I.N. is singing Trot music, which is a traditional Korean genre. He grew up singing in church and he loves Trot music.

I'm so agree with you about Side effects !!!
Its kind of funny seeing you react when they get close on the skinship front. Hyunlix and minsung would put you in shock. I love watching all of their cute interactions but changbin being hyunjins biggest simp and stray kids simping for hyunjin are hilarious. Lee knows nickname is butt hunter... lol. You'll learn how they interact with each other as you go, but i know you are hyunjin biased so some of the biggest you'll see of him are: han-bestie, lee know- love/hate sibling energy, i.n- little brother/ wants to adopt, seungmin- finds adorable and hilarious, changbin- his personel simp, bang chan- older brother/father but they do have a lot of adorable interactions, felix- they are like soulmates and some people romanticize that but we'll never know unless they choose to say otherwise. Soulmates are just 2 people that understand each other and have a very strong unexplainable connection to one another. I leave it at that especially after all the death threats these 2 recieved over it.
As a longtime Stay, here is how I think the best way to explain the Stray Kids Survival Show...
It was a wild time. The show was originally girl group vs boy group. Who would JYPE put their money and time into for debuting? They started recording stuff with both the boy group and the girl group. Then, they started advertising the survival show called Stray Kids. Then, they released the Stray Kids "Hellevator" song BEFORE the survival show ever aired with the group already named Stray Kids. So, we already KNEW which group would be winning in the show and that there should have been 9 members in the group, just like in the "Hellevator" MV.
Then, the episodes started airing. They started showing all the pre-recorded stuff with both groups. We watched them decide on the boy group and we watched them go through the challenges. We watched them make "Hellevator" on the show. It was during that period that Bang Chan came up with the group name Stray Kids. (So you can tell all of this was still the pre-recorded stuff because the Stray Kid "Hellevator" was already released to the public weeks before this aired.)
So then, the show went into elimination mode. Basically... Was everyone that Chan picked good enough to debut together or would someone need to go to make the group stronger? That is when the risk of elimination started and JYPE started eliminating people. This caused A LOT of attention on the show and SKZ. Then, JYP had "a change of heart" and brought Lee Know and Felix back... but only if SKZ could prove that they should be in the group. That is when the live voting started... Who would debut? All 9 or just 7? People PAID money to vote for their choice by text. And, the votes came in that all 9 should debut.
But, here's the thing... JYPE had hyped the whole group up and released the MV. They had already gotten the public to want the WHOLE group together. They already had fans dedicated to Stray Kids. So, of course, fans were going to vote for the whole group to be together as 9 for debut.... just like the MV had them.
Basically, JYPE had a brilliant business plan. They had already decided SKZ was going to debut. They purposefully got fans invested in Stray Kids BEFORE fans even knew who they really were (using "Hellevator"). Then, they treated them horribly on the show, so fans would feel even more invested in wanting them to succeed. It basically made SKZ have a loyal following before they even became idols. It was a great business strategy for JYPE and it worked. The survival show was heavily watched and the live shows were packed. JYPE stocks even went up in value.
The downside of the whole thing was that Stray Kids really went through all those hardships that were on the show. All their emotions and suffering were real. They didn't know the whole story... "the big picture" that they were a part of. To them, all of that was real. They REALLY went through all those things.
That is why a lot of Stays have a love/hate relationship with the survival show... we love that it gave us SKZ, but we hate what they went through.
Side effects for real is underrated.

So basically they had to perform in front of JYP, so he could choose which members are ready to debut as a group, from those who are still not ready and still need more training.
JYP wasn't satisfied with the performance of Felix and LeeKnow(or Minho), so he eliminated them, which meant that StrayKids would be formed without them. (He almost eliminated Hyunjin too)
But later JYP gave the two of them a second chance, because Straykids's performances were even worse without them, So they performed in front of him again after improvig and this time they got accepted in StrayKids.
That was probably the best decision JYP made in his whole life

That although they did a good job filling up the gap, their coordination and chemistry was better when they were 9 members.
So their performances were still good (obviously it's SKZ) but not as good as before.

@16:54 - the person who made the video mistakenly said Han appeared on "Immortal Songs." But actually, the video is showing Han singing on a different music show called "King of Masked Singer." (And FYI - Han, Changbin and Seungmin all sang on "King of Masked Singer" separately on different episodes.)
Twice & Straykids are from the same company (JYP) Also Twice close with Bangchan (I can say that they are close friends). Chan has appeared once as a zombie in Twice's mv. When Straykids debuted, I saw some video that when Twice live a video, they'll promote Straykids, told their fans to help supporting their friend (Chan) and Straykids.

- 2PM, DAY6, Twice, Itzy, Nmixx, Niziu… they’re all JYP groups. Most of them have known each other for a long time since trainee days, so they have a very close bond like a family. Yeji and Hyunjin have been good friends for 10 years. The junior groups usually cover songs of the seniors in 2 or 3 years of their first debut (it kinda depends tbh).
- Stray Kids was formed in the survivor show “Stray Kids”. The company had the intention to debut Stray Kids with 9 members in the first place, but to attract more viewers, Mnet (the broadcast of the show) decided to add more drama by elected 2 members, Lee Know and Felix. But all of the members had to proved themselves deserve to be debut as well. All of the battles between YG trainees and JYP trainees (SKZ), street performances, Changbin kissed Felix incident happened in that survivor show.
(If you don’t wanna see all the mental breakdown moments, don’t watch it because it hurts as hell 🥹)
- BLACKPINK has been the 2nd most popular K-pop group ever, behind BTS. They’re from YG Ent and their songs are very good as well. Some of their songs had passed 1 billion views, all of them are one of the biggest hits in K-pop.

Please react to Lee Know next. 26:04 & 26:20 You can see the survival show on RUclips, but Lee Know & Felix were eliminated, seperately, for similar reasons. JYP said, basically, that they needed more time training before debuting. Lee Know had only been a trainee for 2 months when Bang Chan made him part of the team and he made some mistakes during a performance & Felix was still struggling with Korean so JYP thought they might hold the team back. Ultimately, they were brought back to debute together because the team dynamic seemed better with all of them.

26:18 Felix got eliminated because JYP said he didn't speak Korean good enough. Lee Know got eliminated too. After six month JYP made decision to get them back into the group. Best choice ever.
