    I kept hearing the subtext within this speech. The desire for right-wing capitalism to manipulate and use people throughout their lives for their own benefit instead of caring about taking care of the elderly. It's okay to give opportunities for people who want to work, but to create an environment where senior citizens are forced to work and manipulated by these technologies so that the rich can get richer is obscene.

      The way I see it you all did not really listen to his speech. Its supposed to be a solution to the phenomenon that our worlds population is getting older and older. This requires change. He offers a solution which is, i know, quite futuristic but if the system does not change it will break.

    Instead of assistive technologies to keep seniors working and get over exhausted, a better way is to create jobs that require what seniors are good at. What are they good at? Management, consultation, teaching, social services, community building. These work opportunities need not be classified under the category of 'jobs'. After all, they have worked very hard their entire life, they deserve their right to be free and respected.

    I doubt the ability to produce repeatable results with these technologies
    Elders 60+ who have already devoted their lives to this system deserve rest, financial support, and mentor/menteeship. We need their wisdom not their labor.

    Ever-changing technology is itself a major challenge for senior employment. Some of us older people don’t want to learn new technology. Many employers assume that we can’t.

    I can say that most US corporations look for any reason to shed their 50+ employees in tech. Check the number during COVID and you will see a large skew to those that are older being let go from jobs. I know that isn't your topic but I do think it is related.

    I wonder why people think ageism is only against people that are considered too old. Ageism against people for being too young as well. But it isn't usually in the workplace. I am 41, and I fought for 10 years to get disability benefits after I became unable to work at age 28. I worked as long as I could before I knew my body and mind could no longer take it. And every time I was evaluated by doctors and by the government, they always took my age into consideration, and based their decisions around it to a much higher degree than they should. My age should not have played any role in their decision. It doesn't matter how old I am, I had the conditions I had, end of story. I have been given dirty looks for using my handicapped driver's placard, despite using a cane. And even if I didn't, that is unacceptable. My situation is mostly unknown by the public at large, the only people who understand are those in the same boat. So remember not to judge anyone by their age, regardless if it's too young or too old, because you don't know the facts.

    • @erwinullrich5311
      @erwinullrich5311 9 месяцев назад

      @@wilrivera2987Social security taxes are collected to fund the social security program, which provides financial support to eligible individuals during their retirement years. It operates on a pay-as-you-go system, meaning current workers' taxes fund benefits for current retirees. When you retire, you'll receive social security benefits funded by the next generation of workers, creating a cycle of support for retirees. These taxes are meant to help provide financial security and stability for individuals after they stop working.

    When every job requires 5 years experience, many underpaid. The problem is not agism against the old. It’s agism against the young.
    If older individuals lack money, strengthen social security. Don’t make them work longer.
    If older individuals lack a purpose, strengthen activities in community or the arts. Don’t make people work longer.
    Is this speaker an owner class plant? The solution isn’t making people work longer. It’s making people’s lives after work better.

    This is EXACTLY what I predicted when the birthrate started to fall. They are going to have old people go back to work because there aren't enough young people to support them in old age.
    I know VERY few people who have children, and of those, no one is having a family of three or more children needed provide a youthful workforce to support the aging Baby Boomers.
