Don't Worry About The Children - Hawkins Class History Project

- Hi!
This is a bit different than what I usually upload. I made a series of songs for my college civil rights history class. I chose to focus on The Children's Crusade which occurred May 2nd-3rd in 1963. If you'd like to know more about it feel free to look it up or ask in the comments. I'll also put some sources down below so if you're curious you can read/watch and learn about this event. One last thing, I apologize for the terrible mixing on these recordings. Eventually, I might record everything again and do the piano separately so that I can have more control over it, but I just didn't have time to do that before the project was due. Please enjoy!
This is Track 3. Check out the description of the "Only The Children" Playlist on my channel (I'll link it below) to find out more about the project!
There are sources below the lyrics in case you'd like to learn about The Children's Crusade.

Lyrics:
Verse:
Never in history
Has the nation ever seen
So many people in prison
For freedom and dignity
It’s now that we can’t recede
The very movement counts on these
Children to keep, keep
Moving on
See…
Pre-chorus:
Now I know it ain’t fair
I know it ain’t right
But the end of Birmingham’s
Cruel rule is just in sight
And I know that you’re scared
I was too I won’t lie
But there was another child just 12 years old
who ran away for His father up high
Chorus:
So don’t
I’m telling you don’t
Worry ‘bout the children
Worry ‘bout the children
Oh don’t
I’m telling you don’t
Don’t try to prevent them
They’re about their Father’s business
Verse:
So a
Yellow bus turns into a prison bus
Instead of classrooms kids are in cells
There’s nothing they could to stop the rush
There’s nothing they could do to quell
Thousands of children rising up
They want a better future for themselves
And 1, 2, 3, 4
The start of a war
And 1, 2, 3, 4
The slam of a prison door
And 1, 2, 3, 4
It’s time to celebrate more
Everyday in a jail is a blessing
See the break in the system Hear it crashing down
Pre-chorus 2:
And it’s strange that they dance
And hold up their signs
But the end of Birmingham’s
Cruel rule is just in sight
And we’re taking a chance
But we have to try
So let them do what they do
Cause it’s not just for them it’s for all of mankind
Chorus:
So don’t
I’m telling you don’t
Worry ‘bout the children
Worry ‘bout the children
Oh don’t
I’m telling you don’t
Don’t stop what they are doing
They’re carving through a mountain
