i don't think cody realized how weird the conversation between jenita and joaquin was. the "to another planet" bit was a little odd but could've just been him saying he's gonna be in a totally different place had he not immediately dug in his heels with every following comment -- "i'm holding back from saying some wacky stuff" and "you can't even shake a woman's hand in that part of the planet, did you know that?" he clearly didn't pick up her background right from the start and she had that awkward experience of being the Other the person is describing in Othering terms right to your face. and then when she did say she's from an islamic family, he immediately goes in on "so OUR realm is a bit different from other realms." that's classic us/them dichotomy and i don't blame her at all for being weirded out or upset by it. especially when he tries to follow it up by saying he's only dated "international, foreign women" -- lowkey fetishizing given the stuff he's just said. gross.

@@alexd4566 Although I agree with this, I was put off by his comment because he claims to be a journalist and to have recently learned that "men and women can't even shake hands there". Also, she was right to tell him to educate himself more. He said he’s going to the Middle East but the Middle East is a big region with many countries. He never said which country he was traveling to and he lumped the whole Middle East into one bubble. Not every country in the Middle East is the same and there are so many different cultures and religions there too. He sounded so ignorant.

He's referring to the entire middle east. That's just not true. Strike two. The nail in the coffin was when he tried to save it by mentioning all the nationalities he's dated. Instead of saying she took it the wrong way, he could've asked her to tell him more about why she was offended--it could have been a learning moment for everyone.

Pissed you off? The audacity? Jesus, tone it down a notch, it's not that serious. Jen is gorgeous and was a lot more patient than she needed to be. I also understand her frustration with the whole Middle-East comment. Being from there myself, I get my fair share of passive aggressiveness and willful ignorance. Joaquin could have definitely worded his sentences better if he meant to speak with good intentions, however, that was clearly not the case.
The first guy Jen spoke to was totally speaking out of his ass while saying ''you can't even shake a women's hand in the middle east'' That's the most stereotypical shit I've ever heard. Jen had every right to take offense to that especially since she grew up in an Islamic family.

Plus they obviously didn’t like each other from the get go considering the slightest miscommunication led to an argument.
When Joaquin said to Jen "there's so many things i want to say right now but I can't" was so disgusting because he was literally sexualizing her right then and there

Jen really got a rough deal here, both guys were total dicks and she was more respectful than she needed to be. Hope we see her back with some more respectful pairings
I actually think Jen who called him out on the other planet comment is valid. He was pretentious as hell and gave major white savior vibes, so I think that’s what the “woke” comment was about. I dunnow I got nothing but respect for her I love a woman who bluntly and precisely states boundaries. Like her “none of your fucking business” comment about the natural comment was badass. The middle east contains the majority of true theocratic nations in the world. If you look into the practices from oil-backed princes to local villages, they truly are a world apart from what goes on in the US. A certain religion has a stranglehold on NE Africa and the Middle East.
No. As someone who has ancestry from outside the US, it is indeed a very different world in some parts. The real 'white savior' mentality is denying issues that exist in other places just cause you don't want to 'hurt' them.

Then, she slandered him to the other women based upon her own beliefs. Seems a bit narcissistic. Not only was she judgemental and slanderous, she didn’t seem well educated on her final judgement; seeing that one of the greatest threats facing the future of humanity is actually de-population and population collapse; in combination with the aging population, worker shortages, mass abortions, and the decelerating birth rates. This guy wasn’t aborting 50 babies, he was giving life to 50! Maybe one (or some) of them will actually help save the planet. She was judgemental by nature, self righteous, slanderous, not the brightest bulb in the lighting department, and (at best) a 2 out of 10 in the looks department on a really, really good day. She talks about overpopulation, but clearly has the diet and carbon footprint of at least 2 people; and if she isn’t careful, will be a burden on the system herself, as she ages. In some regards, her judgement comes across as rather hypocritical. Perhaps one day she will need to rely on one of those 50 babies to take care of her in the hospice or nursing home, when she can no longer walk or do things for herself. I’m illiterate… so I have a work trip for Journalism. WILD MAN WILDDDDD
I actually think Jen who called him out on the other planet comment is valid. He was pretentious as hell and gave major white savior vibes, so I think that’s what the “woke” comment was about. And in terms of calling it a different planet, that’s literally othering middle eastern people as aliens in a way. I dunnow I got nothing but respect for her I love a woman who bluntly and precisely states boundaries. Like her “none of your fucking business” comment about the natural comment was badass. This episode was a mess though haha
i only skipped thro but i also got major condescending-asshole vibes from that joachim guy. Also 100% think jen was valid in calling him out
The middle east contains the majority of true theocratic nations in the world. If you look into the practices from oil-backed princes to local villages, they truly are a world apart from what goes on in the US. A certain religion has a stranglehold on NE Africa and the Middle East.
No. As someone who has ancestry from outside the US, it is indeed a very different world in some parts.
The real 'white savior' mentality is denying issues that exist in other places just cause you don't want to 'hurt' them.
exactly !
I don’t like the guy but you definitely took it the wrong way! ☠️ living in the states all your life and all of a sudden moving to the Middle East for a whole year is a whole new world to you. Which is what he meant, he never called them Aliens only saying that it was a new experience for him so I think you need to educate yourself more on that x
jen did not owe joaquin ANYTHING. he was condescending and showed signs of sexism right away. then he treated another culture as something to be gawked at bc it isn’t normal to him. and when jen tried to bring it up he was an ass and didn’t try to have a meaningful discussion. sorry cody, joaquin was in the wrong here.

"I don't typically date asian men" bruh, that was unnecessary lol also he's cute af
why? are people not allowed to have a preference anymore?
@@ninakoch1799 that video would’ve been obliterated if that girl said to a black man “I don’t typically date black men” but since it was an Asian guy suddenly everyone’s like Awh it’s ok preferences are normal and it’s fine to say that to an Asian bc he’s Asian so who care. It’s rlly annoying
@@ninakoch1799 a preference is a preferred option it’s not an end all be all. There’s a difference between a preference you have and principle you stand by. A preference means you still are open to any other options but it’s not the “preferred” which is fine. It doesn’t mean you completely negate someone bc of their race tho which is what that girl did. He was a conventionally attractive and nice dude and she just didn’t give him the time of day bc he was Asian. That’s not a preference anymore. And it’s says a lot abt how she views people
@@sarahmccarthy8293 girl it’s not that serious omg, she likes what she likes end of story
@@sarahmccarthy8293 Totally agree. She should have kept it to herself and the fact that she did not was very telling. I had a racial (dis)preference for the longest time but then I found myself attracted to someone from that race and that was not a big deal to me. It's normal to have a type and to be influenced by your culture's beauty standards but just don't rub it in someone's face and be insensitive about it.
His face when she said it felt “powerful” to reject someone… same Cody lmao
I get the "she could have been understanding" thing. But the problem is, I think u could tell he was rly biased. He only changed his tone to "I'm grateful to learn" after she called him out. He was trying to wow her with "Did you know, u can't even shake a woman's hand there?". He started acting innocent after he realized she knew more than him.
I think she did very well.
Exactly, Jen only seemed icy because both people she talked to were weirdos
It was very, very weird to call it another world. The word is culture. I would asked if he ever traveled outside of the country too.
exactly lmao esp as she said she was from an islamic background like its obvious she was saying that to explain its not a "different world" to her as she might have some familiarity with the customs, but mans just took it to tell her abt the diff nationalities hes dated - also weird and if anything shouldnt that make him more accustomed to how different cultures can be? she was alright generally but she was on the money w her attitude w him, ngl i wish she was meaner cause he was being mad weird abt it

Jenita deserved so much better. First she dealt with the scummy journalist guy and then the shitty dude that came in trying to avenge journalist dude by giving his unwanted, unneeded, unseasoned opinion of her body.
Dylan and the chest tattoo guy both seemed hella sweet though. First guy was hyper sure, but he seemed very genuine too.

Right as opposed the classy previous women who says she doesn’t date Asian men
the fact that her first thought about donating sperm is "overpopulation" instead of giving someone the ability to become parents who can't on their own really says a lot
Exactly. She was completely judgemental, with the judgement based on untruths. She had 2 choices to go with: Creator of Life vs Destroyer of Planets.
Where her personal judgement landed on those 2 narratives was crystal clear. And, with no middle ground or inquiry behind the reasoning of his choice.
Plus, she tried to sabotage him with the other contestants based on her own prejudices. She’s awful; the type who acts sweet to your face, and then destroys you in private behind your back. He clearly dodged a bullet in just about every category, by beating her to the button.
@@demarkahlil2124 Exactly. And, she likely never will. Her judgmental nature is textbook ‘emotions over facts’. And, emotions will continue to further cloud her judgement without the voices of reason and logic.
