THE FIRST BASSIST, YOU ARE *ALWAYS* LATE!!!
The worst pain of all? Forgetting the repeat during performance
That happened on my first concert. I finished the song and then realized everyone else was still playing. I looked at the page for a whole 20 seconds before noticing “oh frick I missed the repeat sign.” 😂😂
Ugghhhhh I hate thattttttt
Yasss so true
Even worse, repeating when there's no repeat 😭😭😵
I had a situation when there were three basses - me amatour and two pros who were much better. I practiced my part a lot before rehearsal to keep up while they were sight-reading and still playing better. And then there was a repeat which I practiced for hours and ended up being the only one who did the repeat. It was my little victory that day. ;)
I nearly fell asleep, and when Eddy yelled, “DoUbLe BaSsEs” it scared the crap outta me because that is my current instrument.
OOOOOOOOOF
*cue traumatic flashbacks*
hey can you cook a fake pork for me
you thought you were in a rehearsal?
During a performance, my glasses slipped down my nose and I couldn't see my music. We had just started the piece too. I had to play by memory AND by what the person next to me was playing,
I totally relate with the glasses just slipping down the nose. It’s hella annoying 😭
Oh crud!
that's, some crazy skills dude!
Try putting mini elastic rubber bands on the glasses legs (the kind that are $1 for like 500 at the dollar store, get black or brown). The rubber will prevent them from falling. It's helped me.
@@user-mz3ss4yg9r yes! This is a strategy my other classmates use. But now I have contacts so I no longer worry about jt
Everyone: Brett is dead inside
Brett: 40 facial expressions in 3 minutes
TAKE THAT Y’ALL
Brett has lots of expressions. It just happens that one of his best is deadpan.
Luca Bertani or filming the iguanas
IKR way to flip the script o us!!!
Well, now we know who likes the comments
I'm dead inside & can confirm I can male faces
The most embarrassing moment in orchestra:
Sitting a desk behind the child prodigy.
Not embarrassing my friend....SOUL-CRUSHING
or sitting next to the child prodigy...
Lynxar but the prodigy would be the concertmaster....or the soloist
@@lynxar4 not sure which is worse.
Lynxar Yes!!! Every day in rehearsal for me!!! It’s the scariest thing ever! This child is mini Ling Ling!!!
I fear for my life...
Save me...
Please.
When you’re playing cello in concert and you’re too close to another person... *and you hit them with your bow...*
Beth McFarland I'm a French horn player and I just happen to sit next to a tuba this happens to me quiet regularly except it's not a bow I just get hit because these tuba players don't know how to control there tubas
Oohhh, I know this so good. During performances we’re sitting very close to each other and it’s very hard to not hit someone with the bow especially when you’re playing on the g string. By the way I play the violin.
Does anyone know the name of the last song please 🥺? It took my heart ,breaths and soul away,i need it,please

I like how Brett is the one being embarrassed while Eddy is like “why am I beside this dude??”
It's usually this way as well. I wonder if Eddy can just do a better shady side-eye.
It’s always Eddy casting the annoying guys. It’s only fair 😂
Me when my stand partner just lets loose a fart.
The acting XD
fr
Conducter when Brett is late: we're clearly playing in 4/4 you cant just waltz in here
Ba dum tssss😂😂😂😂
That was a SIMPLE joke.
It’s ok if you don’t understand
Clever. 😂
Hahahahahaha
Such a *common* joke...
Can we appreciate how Eddy played twice as loud to cover Brett at 3:05
Alternative title: Eddy being a supportive deskie for 3 minutes
True story :
Someone's phone rings in rehearsal
Conductor: If that's another job, take it
Helen Birch ohhh the burn
😲
My conductor said that and we don't get paid. It was in school.😂🤣
Me as an English teacher for adults: if it's urgent, take it
That happened to me once. Even funnier, the ring tone was a violin playing Brandenburg concerto.
"Having a coughing fit during a performance"
Double points if it is an instrument like a trumpet that just amplifies that sound to let the world know just how embarrassing your current situation is.
happened to me with trombone, and my Viola, and worst of all, my bagpipes. You simply can't play bagpipes and play at the same time. It's physically impossible.
Happened to me, I am a trumpetist and I had a solo part, it was awfull
This happened to me in CPA and I think I got us a lower score cause of that...
Mine is a clarinet and my last performance I had bronchitis
clarinetist and i had to sneeze during a performance for one of the British princes due to 75 years of operation market garden. luckily i didnt sneeze in the clarinet but i did have to stop mid performance
1:11 I'm not a professional musician but back in sixth form I did this huge event with 200+ students and teachers - when I got to the rehearsal, I was assigned to second violins. Competition for first section was harsh, and there were a lot of string players. We were playing Mars from The Planets Suite, and the conductor said to watch his beat for the final 2/3 bars of accented notes. I paid attention and ended up being the only person in the entire strings section who got it right. The conductor pointed his baton at me and told me to stand, and take my music off the stand - I was absolutely terrified, stood at the front of the orchestra, over 200 people watching me...
...
*I got moved to the first section for being the only one who followed the cues*
👏👏👏 If I were in your position I would probably die from fear! Gj 😄
Moment of honor.
That heppened to me too in school orchestra and like everyone looked at me with serious annoyed face and I was there like I should have messed upppppp😢
I can't decide whether this was unlucky or lucky....😶
"You think you just *waltz* in 15min late"
Genius comedy
"YOU HAVE NO EARS"
Beethoven: But-
It was actually an exact quote from one of Toscanini's rehearsals
He also said "Always the wooden carts...bwa bwa bwaaa...YOU HAVE EARS IN YOUR

FEET"
Beethoven can’t hear him say that...
No one:
Me: tuning for 5 minutes and still don't know if I'm too sharp or flat
I'm actually the last one to finish tuning because everyone's like, really TOO loud so I can't clearly hear my instrument. I mean, I have perfect pitch but it's hard to tune your violin when you're in a symphonic orchestra
Sammmmeeee
Like I'm tone deaf and can gearly here anything when everyone's tuning but my before class is so far away so I can't tune and have like 1 min to tune it and I just end up with an unexpected tuned instrument and I can't even play or I'll get called out rip
bulle 2savon ruclips.net/video/_YIZSOiA80Q/видео.html
Neo anybody that says they have perfect pitch doesn’t actually
Totally me when I used to play trumpet.
2:47 the way he says “ah woatah” is the most australien thing ive heard from brett
2:03 loved that ref to Toscanini!
bruh the tone on “waste EVERYBODY’S TIME” was too accurate
Cameron this comment was so good no one even comment....
Mah&Chloah sometimes you don’t have to force your voice onto others. Sometimes, you just appreciate a thing for what it is, without insisting someone listen to your opinion on it. I guess 223 people already know this...
Eilzmo oui oui

It was so accurate that I, as someone who hasn't touched an instrument in months, felt that deeply
Bro legit all jokes aside I know this is just a scripted thing but can we appreciate how Eddy played twice as loud to cover for Brett 👏👏
neat dude teamwork
nah i think he was just like "yay he's finally gone now I can fully play"
Astro Birb he’s taking about double how loud he is, not the volume
@Astro Birb okay but loud and forte _are_ essentially the same thing
Astro Birb yeah, forte is a loud sound,
Wait, I am also confused rn
Funny but weird story that happened to me friend (she plays the clarinet). She was playing the piece when a bit of her reed broke off and she began to choke on this piece of reed. Then, the piece ended and the guitar ensemble started playing all while my friend is having a coughing fit. She managed to get the reed out, but a rude music teacher we all hate was watching her the whole time, and emailed the conductor that she was ‘mucking around.’ She got punished for choking.
Sorry for the novel guys :)
I'm so sorry for your friend ! 😕
Once during performance, I don't exactly know how but my eyes suddenly felt super uncomfortable from the bright stage lights and I just started tearing up, like tears streaming down my face. The conductor and my stand partner noticed and was probably weirded out because it was quite a cheery little piece. I didn't even try to explain afterwards because I was too embarassed and was busy wiping the tears from my face.
Literally same it happened to me 2 days ago and I had to wipe my tears in front of a packed concert hall because they were flooding my eyes
*Conductor* : “they guy with the glasses. Yeah you play.”
Me: *wow the conductor doesn’t even know Brett’s name*
Vivian Starling my middle school band teacher didn’t know anyone’s names. He just pointed in a random and hope the right person came. He was a good conductor tho XD
Well In a symphony the conductor doesn’t know everyone’s name. Concert master, soloist. And leaders of sections
Kylo Ren maybe
That's really sad you make vids together and have known each other for like five years and you still don't know the other person's name
@Atlas Swift Oh, they know… it’s just scripted for Eddy to say “guy with the glasses”
If that conductor was Toscanini, Brett would be flying out of the room.
@Dami Fly He's the guy Eddy was quoting. Watch their conductor reaction video
I was playing cello in a quintet. For a wedding outside. It had rain heavily day before, so the ground was soft. My chair started sinking sideways. Even though my spike had a larger ball stop, also started sinking. Same happened to the Contra Bass. As well as the violins and viola players. By the time the bride slowly sauntered up the aisle, I was playing the cello sideways, at chest level. The violins were almost sitting on the ground. The Contra Bass had pulled her spike up out of the ground and had it balance on her foot.
Edit- yes it was f**king Cannon in D
Underrated comment. Just priceless, especially when I imagine it visually. And the last sentence 😂😂
I went to a concert last month as audience and this is a true story. After the tuning, everyone has seated. Quiet. Waiting for the soloist to come out (followed by the conductor). A girl came out. Audience clapped instinctively. Turned out she’s the last desk in the 1st violin section. She’s so embarrassed and sat down immediately. A faint laugh was heard among the audience. Then after a few secs the soloist came out. Motto: don’t be late 😂
Title should be

*Shudders*
Oh man, I remember a few years back during middle school, my school had this weird system that if you were taking both choir and band (and gym) in schedule, you would have to skip lunch during b days to have gym and then have band right after. Well our conductor decided to be "nice and considerate" and allowed us to have lunch in between, Giving us like 7, tops 10 minutes to shove our food down our esophagus. Great. All good so far. But when we got in the band room and tried to just blend in with what was going on, he would always call us out and tell at us for being late. Sometimes he would just forget our situation and we'd had to remind him. ADDING in to that, one day I forgot to bring my instrument and when I got to school and realized my big upsy, I knew it was bad news. I ended skipping band class that day because I was so scared of that man, and let me tell you, I'm a good mid- the type that skipping class has never occurred to them. I look back and the experience still haunts and till this day I haven't forgotten lol.
@@karlamendoza5074 oh dude... that's tough
Mine is so good at noticing mistakes, she just knows when one person is off, and will make that whole section/part play the piece until we get it right. It’s good practice so we know what to do, but when we just keep failing and keep failing, she gets pretty steamed.
YES! Our conductor gets on us SO MUCH 💀 (I’m in beginner band, and our conductor yells at the flautists for not using enough air and not articulating well)
When you drop your instrument in High school and everyone turns around to look at you. 👀

Weirdly never been more attracted to Eddy
I've never been this terrified of Eddy.
Mary Cecilio I mean he didn’t say anything when he came in, he just found what part they were playing. I wouldn’t call that a waste. Dang conductors.
thankfully my orchestra teacher is like the nicest teacher ever,
-she never yells at you if you forget your instrument at home, she just gives you another one to use for class
- if you play something wrong, she will not directly address your mistake in front of the whole class, instead, shell pull you aside during breaks or the end of class.
-she usually asks us to play and when she tests us by groups of 4-5, we can go on our MacBooks and basically do something " school appropriate "
- she hardly assigns any things to practice on smart music ( which is like a website you can use to upload music and record your paying so that your teacher can hear ) and when she does assign something, it's either a summative or a super easy piece that we can play.
Being a soprano in a choir and losing my voice in the middle of the rehearsal! My voice had a ridiculous squick on that high note (of course..) and then no voice came out at all...
After that I just sat there untill the end (for an hour) staring at my section and looking at my sheet music papers silently, felt really dumb...
When I played the cello in the orchestra I freaked out when the conductor ask us to play one by one even though I wasn't the wrong one I freaked out and became one
Reminds me of a tyrannical music teacher when I was a kid, half of the class couldn't play the flute alone properly in front of him, too freaked out... How to make kids hate classical music...
my old conductor was this type of people he expected us to play the frickin WHOLE piece after 20 minutes when the thing has 4 pages and cello has 2 solo parts
that almost killed me and I hate him ever since
Ha that is such an evil way to do that
@@davidvincent380 Like I said before, I'm kinda glad now I never got to that level in my playing! I'll just stay a happy solo amateur!
That is how all my teachers makes the seating chart. By making you suffer alone in embarrassment.

Most embarrassing moment? Easy: when you're second chair bc your conductor wants you to learn from the god tier principal and then the principal is absent and you have to play their solo even though third chair is better than you-
Yeah if you couldn't tell this is based on a true story.

I can relate with all of them except for the last one, once in rehearsal we were playing and I forgot to put my phone in silence mode and my mother called me, stopping an entire orchestra. To make things worse my phone was in my case, and my case wasn´t on stage but in the audience chairs

percussionists: drops 5 cymbals, throws 45 sticks, snare turns on when every is silent, timpani tuning and everyone is waiting, continues to drop 4 instruments at same time
Bit of attention seeking persons perhaps?
Bro, tuning the timpani before the piece starts while having everyone wait silently for you is the worst
When you're 30 years into your orchestral career and a 10 year old Ling Ling shows up for a solo.
As a double bass, while everyone did their note naming practice, I got to tune. I was also the only double bass and it is much more difficult to tune than the violin(I have played the violin before), especially with the E string harmonic. I was so glad because I was always the last person to finish tuning since my tuner picked up the sounds of the other 37 kids simultaneously trying to tune.
so spot on. Loved this
Bonus : realizing at the airport you forgot your violin home

i swear my heart stopped every time i was asked to play alone
Do you guys have playoffs?
I sang in the choir. Often each section would sing alone to train. Sometimes we were just 2 or 3 people and I would feel like everyone was looking at me. I was quite introvert and insecure back then, so that was really not fun. But singing everyone together was awesome.

Omg #9 having a coughing fit during a performance!
Legit in high school I had a cold during one of our concerts. First half we played Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis by Vaugh Williams which is super gentle and quiet like almost the WHOLE DANG SONG. I sat at the end of a row in the first violins RIGHT by the edge of the stage, and couldn't stop coughing which of course got worse the more I tried to stifle it. I should also mention the whole concert was RECORDED, so when we got the recording back, you could hear me loud and clear coughing through the whole. thing. Mortifying!!
Luckily my mom had a cough drop she gave me during intermission, so the second half went a whole lot better.

The funny part is that this all happened in my orchestra.

Anonymous Girl how was the pain to you
I have always been terrified of getting a coughing fit during a concert- I get them a lot during rehearsals and auditions for some reason. I almost got one a couple months ago and managed to hold it in until I basically coughed up a lung when I got home lol
there were like a couple of times i had coughing fits during performances and i SWEAR they come out of no where, like i'm not sick or anything and of course it happens in situations like a concert..... so embarrassingggg
“Tuning last”
Me, tuning in my Chinese orchestra in much more than 5 mins.
My Zheng has 21 strings by the way and IT ALL NEEDS TO BE TUNED.
I feel you. The harp has 47 STRINGS (although I am not in an orchestra)
Tell me about it lol my school's bass section is just beside the suonas and we can't even tune because of their blaring
