    Welcome back everyone!!! ❤️ On request, and cuss it's cool, I've returned to the map that started it all, way back in my first video more than four years ago!!! I hope you enjoy this blast from the past!
    Balance tweaking has also gone apace. I'm feeling really happy with culture balance right now: there's a lot less melting pot and a lot more cultural differentiation now, while still keeping melting pots emerging when nations get big.
    Nation growth and diplomacy is also in a pretty good spot, but I'll be looking into making polity collapse a bit less extreme and sudden in future versions. Too many Alexanders, too few Augustii at the moment, if you get that reference. 😂
    And before I forget (as if I would ever, haha), thanks so much for watching, liking and subscribing!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    This planet almost became the 2nd to ever surpass 1 billion people, it got cut short around 935 million and descended to 754 million by the end.
    Also, Dor is an OLD nation, it appeared around the 3 minute mark (3:03), peaked at second while Kilik was the largest, around the 7 minute mark (along with "Yay" in 3rd, the only real notable weird name, 7:04), exited the top 3 at 7:15, merged with "Bakalluitsahia" at 7:28 to become 3rd, which they exited soon after, their union split at 7:56, where Dor become part of "Kanyalja", where it then got usurped into Matontro at 8:04 (also a nation called "Banana" exists on the leaderboard at this time), became independent at 8:14, no longer on the leaderboard, it rejoins for one frame around 8:34, rejoins a second later, reenters the top 5 at 10:33, merges with "Akhetkhi" a second after, putting it back in the top 3, reaches second place again at 10:41, becomes 3rd again at 10:53, exits the top 3 at 10:56 and immediately reenters 3rd, exits at 11:02, exits the top 5 at 10:16, its union ends but it doesn't split, instead it just becomes "Dor" and it reenters the top 5 at 11:29, reentered the top 3 at 11:44, it returns to second at 11:49, it begins colonising at 11:56, and finally, at 12:06, it becomes the largest and most influential nation, having major colonies in the Southern Hemisphere and small one-tile colonies in the Northern Hemisphere.
    *Final results for Dor:*
    Formed: Year ~3175
    "Kok" established: Year 4014 (I checked when it was 2nd, it was still called "Kok")
    Earliest known population: 2,303,861
    Country end population: 63,231,918
    "Kok" earliest known population: 71 thousand
    "Kok" end population: 2.77 million
    Colonial presence: Mostly >1 tile colonies in the Southern Hemisphere, mostly single-tile colonies in the Northern Hemisphere, around the main ocean
    Earliest known ruler: Petoka III
    Ending ruler: Hisah VII
    Final status: *1st!*
    *Weird country names:*
    Sam
    Banana
    Yay
    Grok
    Ten
    Dor

      Also, little technical note about this moment: "its union ends but it doesn't split, instead it just becomes "Dor" and it reenters the top 5 at 11:29"
      It's not clear because it happens when Dor isn't in the top three. But what happens here is not that the Union ends, but that Dor becomes the hegemon, making Akhetkhi a junior partner (effectively a privileged kind of vassal).
      When that happens, in the latest version, the name of the nation changes from "Union of X--Y" to "Great X," a reference to the union of England and Scotland being renamed to Great Britain. Previous versions would change the name to something completely new, but people mentioned this just made it harder to follow the history of a single nation and broke their continuity, so I changed it to the major partner's name becoming the name of the hegemonic union. 👍
      So that's why it's called the Kingdom of Great Dor when it appears in the top three again. The 'Great' represents that it has peacefully absorbed Akhetkhi as the lesser half of their kingdom (since it's a kingdom, I would flavor this as having involved a marriage or two 😂).

      @@FWHSimulator Yeah, I noticed that one of the capitals were olive but I couldn't remember what the gov. type was so I just went with "doesn't split".

      Some big ass plague must've happened if the population got cut to 754m when the industrial revolution was basically happening

    Awesome to see this map back, and the cultures look wonderful too, how were they changed since last video?

    • @FWHSimulator
      @FWHSimulator  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks! I think the biggest change is that I realized that I was over-estimating the power of making culture just "randomly drift." Like, I had culture just randomly drift +1 or -1 point a lot. But I realized that in practice, going +1 one moment and -1 the other just evens out to 0 change overall. It was basically just generating noise without doing all that much interesting.
      With that changed mindset, I changed the system to be still ultimately random, but more focused and direct. One big improvement that resulted is how national cultures now tend to differentiate themselves from their neighbors, as opposed to just disappearing into big regional melting pots. I tried a couple of things to make that happen, but it's not until I removed that random drift noise that it really started being effective. 👍 I'm quite happy with where culture is now as a result. Never perfect, but pretty good 😁

    Is there something like ruler power? Like, rulers have more power with certain goverments like dictatorships?

    • @FWHSimulator
      @FWHSimulator  2 месяца назад

      There's not much internal politics atm, but rulers do have a governing stat which means good rulers boost their country and bad rulers hurt it. The main difference between government types is that monarchies have rulers last till death, while republics have regular elections. You can distinguish the two types because only monarchies having roman numerals after ruler names.

    I would be very interested in working on such a program. What kind of controls are there for things like nation ideals or large scale events (such as meteor strike or pandemic)?

    • @FWHSimulator
      @FWHSimulator  2 месяца назад

      Thanks! Right now there's no real controls, the simulator just kinda runs and outputs image frames that I edit into videos. At the moment my first major design goal is to build a World Explorer game that lets players travel through and explore the history of the worlds the simulator generates. I think based upon my current skills and time available that's a good start, and then releasing the full simulator as something playable would be a next step. But I think I need the experience of coding the World Explorer game before I'm ready to turn the simulator into something that'd be truly fun to play around with, if that makes sense. 😂👍
