This man has no fear of the ocean!
Must be
Nice pun
This is one of the most precise and well played interpretations that I have heard. Well done. Very well done. I can't believe this doesn't have more views.
I quite agree with you !!

2:16 oh the clarity of this arpeggio!! the repeated notes are so well articulated! gives me the chills! amazing.
NowItsKevin any progress?
This is my dream piece.. so dramatic
Lol, I am watching this while its thundering and storming out! And as soon as it switched into major the sun came out!
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lol
r/thathappened
I think that Paul doesn't considerer himself a concert pianist. But, for me at least is one of the best I ever will heard.
Hahha, but... He plays this etude better than absolutely any pianist!

Got the whole thing memorized today. Can't play it anywhere near up to tempo yet, still stumbling at slow speed, but for anyone who thinks they might not be able to learn it yet wants to, just go for it. I couldn't get past the first couple of measures only last week.
And now?
What about now?
Miss Capri what about now ???
Now?
And now???
there's a dog in the reflection of the piano at 1:37
ericiscoolllll Woof!
+Hi Everybody! I get it
+DaveA441 It looks like a dog, though it could be a hippopotamus.
+ericiscoolllll It could be a very short giraffe
+Cow Norris Or a very tall mouse?
Re the comment about looking like he's just mowed the lawn - it's called not being stuffy and pretentious, Noah. Perhaps playing the best version of this piece I've ever heard might just outweigh your cavil.
Thank you Paul.
This is the best version for clarity of individual notes and sensitive use of pedal - a wonderful performance. Thank you.
Absolutely a masterpiece. Amazing how you could remember all the keys.
Here I am again. Learning this piece, and can't get enough of it, currently.
The clarity is amazing, I'm still working on this one, trying to get it to this kind of tempo
I was literally gonna say the same thing. The clarity is on point when compared to other pianists I've heard.
Thank you for recording and posting this! I like your tempo and you bring out all the internal phrasings really well. I'm working on this Etude right now and your video has inspired me.
A wonderful performance Paul! Brilliant - you played it with passion taking care of the melodic aspects, dynamics ( many don’t bother) and the accents. Bravo!
A hallmark of piano playing Paul, you truly are talented!
Absolutely beautifully played, as always
Wonderful piece and performance!
Your piano has an amazing tone quality and excellent recording quality!! Well done!
Paul Barton performance examples Chopin's work at it's best. A romantic piece of wide dimension and appeal.
My absolute favorite of Paul's!
Very good rendition of the Ocean Etude! It's very clear in the middle octaves too and equals Askenazy's performance; Your tutorial is very handy too!!! No idea why people are disliking this performance. I think they donot know anything about Chopin and classical music at all.
Amazing playing as always!, absolutely beautiful.
Love to listen to you playing, fantastic!
A magnificent performance, Paul. I agree with your insertion of softer dynamics in parts.
Fantastic, Paul!!! And the recording of the grand sounds much better (i.e. very good) in this video than in some before. Many thanks for uploading.
Wonderful, great precision and thought.
Perfect ! What a great interpretation ! Congratulations !
Absolutely fantastic!
Fantastic presentaton Chopin "Ocean"Thank you so much PaulBartonPiano
Wonderful!!! Can't wait for the tutorial...
So awesome!
Marvellous! Inspiring!
J'attends le tuto avec impatience,
GG Paul!!
So awesome I wish I could describe how much I love this. It made my day to say the least! Excellent work Paul!
I really like the way you played this etude!
Why would someone dislike this video?!?!
Only trolls with no life and lust for attention go around disliking things that are nice and/or require skill/talent. Something such trolls lack.
I think some of them may have listened to Paul's earlier (version 1) of this piece (video from 2009) where he lives out every note of this Etude with pain and passion. This video is surely among the best interpretations on RUclips, but the question is if the (version 1) from 2009 is not THE best interpretation ever made.. I give this video a big thumbs up, but for the 2009 video my thumb up doesn't really reflect my appreciation.
It just looks way too hard, LOL I'm kidding. Thumbs up from me.
Jealousy, maybe?
lang lang maybe xD
Such incredible precision!
ooooooooooooh - CONGRATULATION - wonderful performance and very expressiv!!! thank you Paul, greetings Hella
I'm impressed, Paul!!
Beautiful.......
Bravo! Wonderful interpretation, really emotionful and precise. I was completely lost in the flow of the melody.
Great ! I love chopin
Wow I immediately fell in love with this piece. From it's powerful menacing chords to it's beautiful melodies and it's difficulty just makes it even more of a masterpiece! I gotta go learn this!
Agamaz arpeggios are just rolled chords so he isn't wrong :)
Beautiful.
Very well played, Paul! I personally can't stand when concert pianists fly through these etudes as fast as they can. This is neither too slow nor too fast. Well done.
Dramatic and beautiful melody, the end especially where it seems to reach some kind of majestic summit. The same effect I get from the end of the fourth ballade and the F minor fantasy.
Bravo!
Wow! Brilliant performance!! Outdoes Perahiah!!😍
Awesome!
Stunning.
Wonderful
Perfect, Paul! Best wishes! :)
Excellent performance!Among the best in youtube! ^^
A truly fine performance. I'd give my right arm to play this marvelous etude.
This is so good
Amazing....................
very nice!
They hammers look so pretty. Been listening to a lot of Chopin recently, this makes me want to learn more.
Wow! I love you Forte, its incredible! You have so much paower in you fingers! Amazing!
Fantastic work, brilliant. I saw your dog go past around half way through!
Bravo paul bravo!
You did it buddy. Well done. You got some pain out of me
That was very, very satisfying.
your skill is amaying and feelings great musician!!
very well done sir
VERY nice
Bravo!!!!
Bravissimo !
Thank you very much for your advice, Mr.Barton. I know that you do know what you're talking about piano wise. I feel like this etude is helpful with my technique. I keep my wrist loose when I play and I'm trying to master speed even more "along with dynamics of course." We're having to learn Hanon in our technique class and I feel like this piece definitely has a lot of similarities to hanon. I'll keep you in mind if I need more advice. Hopefully I'll be as good of a pianist as you one day.
Indeed, the sound of this grand piano is MUCH richer! And this etude is one of my favorite haha.
really nice interpretation, technical skill is certainly there as well
A warm, "human", and friendly version ... perhaps not really "chopinesque" , but so consolating .... typically Paul Barton .... thank you, Paul .
Capo Master!!!
Saludos desde Chile
Paul: Nunca me canso de escuchar una y otra vez este etude. El mejor de entre los mejores!!!,cuando nos vas a maravillar con la polonesa heroica op53????

Thinx for your help !
+Sylvain Ancey Either you've been living under a rock or in North Korea haha
music publishing collecting society is just a scam, think youtube know about it too, if you get a copyright notice (I did) you just dispute it using their claim form and it gets released from copyright :)
Perfect
I like this interpretation.
The Thumb Etude :) Well played!!!
Bravo! Wonderful interpretation, really emotionful and precise. I was completely lost in the flow of the melody. Cannot criticize anything in Chopin's music :)
Fantastic imprecionant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you have a very good life! Living in one of the most beautiful countries in the world and playing beautiful music as well. 24/7!

Yeah - that was Awesome.
! ! ! СПАСИБО !
nice!!!!!!
breath taking
Love Feurich sound!
how can anyone dislike this?
It just looks way too hard...kidding :)
The benefit to me of you mentioning the reflection is that
otherwise I may not have noticed the manufacturer's name on the side of (NOT "of the piano"), FUERICH, with which I am unfamiliar. Amazing how many unheralded companies produce
high quality pianos.
I am here because someone who commented on Anastasia Huppmann's performance of this
masterpiece recommend this one
also. They were right!
Thoroughly enjoyable
and higly respectable
performance!😀👏
Arpeggio heaven...control keeps from making it a Glissando....glorious!!
Always wondered if pedals are used with a plethora of arppegio s. Truly masterful. Captures intent I think Sir Frederick had in mind: undulating waves in the sea. Thank. you:Bravo !!!!!
You're definitely a Master and you have all my respect Paul !! I love your work and i hope you'll keep making us dream ^^ !!
May i ask you how much time did you use to learn this masterpiece ?
beast
I truly believe some day these treasures will be uploaded to the Apple Music or any other streaming service 🙌🏻😊
