Got the whole thing memorized today. Can't play it anywhere near up to tempo yet, still stumbling at slow speed, but for anyone who thinks they might not be able to learn it yet wants to, just go for it. I couldn't get past the first couple of measures only last week.

I think some of them may have listened to Paul's earlier (version 1) of this piece (video from 2009) where he lives out every note of this Etude with pain and passion. This video is surely among the best interpretations on RUclips, but the question is if the (version 1) from 2009 is not THE best interpretation ever made.. I give this video a big thumbs up, but for the 2009 video my thumb up doesn't really reflect my appreciation.

Thank you very much for your advice, Mr.Barton. I know that you do know what you're talking about piano wise. I feel like this etude is helpful with my technique. I keep my wrist loose when I play and I'm trying to master speed even more "along with dynamics of course." We're having to learn Hanon in our technique class and I feel like this piece definitely has a lot of similarities to hanon. I'll keep you in mind if I need more advice. Hopefully I'll be as good of a pianist as you one day.

    high quality pianos.
