- I go on a road trip to Spain in search of a rare neglected BMW, the 8 series from 1991 that's been stuck in an underground garage since ca. 2010. Euro-spec Laguna green E31 850i with a 6-speed manual.

Thank god you immediately replaced the steering wheel 👏👏👏
I hated it.
All that was missing was a wing
@@ironmonkey1512 Or a rabbit paw on the antenna.
How many stories throughout history start with that phrase? "I'm on my way to Spain to do something stupid."
At least three .
Entertaining and to the point, not lots of unnecessary talking like most RUclipsrs these days blowing smoke up their own arse. Nice scenery in Spain too.
100% Agree
200% agree.
lots of nice roads on the cantabrian coast.. spend my summers there.. San Sebastian to Santander. and inwards towards burgos. N635 from santander to burgos epic drive..
6:01 LMAO
-"No entiendo"
-That went spectacularly well
" scheise" 😂
Tolles Auto, danke für das kurzweilige Video.
Danke!
Yeah right, and I'm a Squirrel 😂
That museum is literally the first shot of "The World Is Not Enough" Bond film.
The car's gonna be amazing. I can't wait to see it restored.
Hah, I would've never remembered that! I just went and watched the opening scene. :) Thank you!
You're welcome. Btw the E31 would be a great Bond's car. Shame it hadn't get the chance as Brosnan's Bond used to drive BMWs.
I totally agree. At least he got to drive the E38 :D
Just found this channel, and I'm in heaven. A manual 6 speed, 850i E31 is my ultimate dream car. 🤤🤤 Now if you don't mind, I'm going to binge watch the rest of your content.
RUclips is creepy. I was just considering one of these cars today as a future project.
Then today it recommends this video ? Weird ?!?!?
Lasa ma vrajeala
Turn off the mic on your computer...they are listening
You have been searching about cars, BMWs and perhaps this specific one.
"some gauges here and they are disgusting " 😂 like your opinion about after market parts in cars. have same opinion 👌
Dead right
I walk away from any BMW when people install unapproved parts. Usually wheels that screw up the bearings and bushings. They usually neglect scheduled maintenance [like cooling system MTBF times, etc] in favor of garbage like this. Neglecting that which was designed for continued ops will cost you a lot more later, like double the acquisition price in many cases. Hope you didn't pay too much.
Well, everything can be done tastefully.
Some cheap ass Momo stuff you can buy at the local discount car goods store is not tasteful and stating that is hardly enlightening knowledgeable people. :D
I think absolutely the same.
I mean, I own a tiny Panda, that's the kind of car that has been made to work, no one would bother if I install some gauges on my car.
But that BMW, that's another story. You should kind "pay respect" of these cars imho
I wish I had been with you to translate😂. I once flew to Barcelona from North Carolina USA to buy a Land Rover Santana that I imported back home. Love your videos! Keep living your dream!
This is not only a good car video, it's, also, a great travel video!
Looking forward to more, thanks! :)
Thanks! That was my goal with this video, not just about the car but the fun of traveling, exploring a new city and meeting new people.
@@M539Restorations You did it in an exemplary fashion.
As much as I love your wrenching vids, and I do, the adventure is so much of what leads up to it.
Keep it going, all of it, you'll find more bimmer lovers each day - I'm glad I found your channel.
Appreciate the support. There will be another one of Malaga soon. ;)
I live in Castro Urdiales, I am glad that you like my city, I hope you would take a good memory.
I love your work and your videos. After watching your careful work and commitment to doing proper repairs with genuine BMW parts, I have become a fan. Please keep the videos coming!! Cheers, Brendon.
God
I love this tipe of video
Continue in this tipe of video man!
Good job!
Thank you!
Good job! Here is a real expert at work. And I like that he renews all "usual suspicious" parts mercilessly. After 30 years, it has to be the very big service. For a huge V12, the BMW engine, like the whole car, is surprisingly repair friendly and technically manageable.
Thanks for your diligent commitment to excellence. Best vids for reclaiming neglected cars.
Great work man, those cars are bright part of the history and it's sad how they are sometimes left behind.. Samo napred!
I'm so """envy"" you had the possility to do this trip befre this crazy pandemic to this beautiful part of Europe, awesome weather, citry, food, cerveza. And the music during the Bilbao city tour its a HUGE plus!
Looking through some of you older videos now with great interest. Great project!
I have recently discovered your channel and I find your videos very interesting. Im from Bilbao and I go very often to Castro-Urdiales. Nice to know you enjoyed these places! Its a shame that in Spain we dont have the automotive culture to value these cars as we should, and they end up leaving the country, as those Mercedes. At least this one went to somebody who is going to give it the love it deserves!
Gute Arbeit!

Just found this channel out of sheer luck. I subscribed because of how genuine you are. Can't wait for more videos!
Thank you! Always nice to read that.
Not Hitler LOL this has been my profile picture for a good 5 years now, maybe it's time for an change lol
I watched this series back to front. Great video, and a very interesting purchase.
Man, have just started to follow you and can't stop watching the videos! Also an IT professional and cars enthusiast here (have an e30 325i coupe). I'm spanish native and the Conversation with the seller made my day XD. Keep posting!
This is the type of stuff that you will write books about later. Awesome content.
Fascinating travelling with the excuse of buying cars...subscribed straightaway!
Bilbao natural & Castro Urdiales resident here - Very pleased to have you. Come back any time.
How can anyone let an e31 go to the dogs like that!!! Well done on saving this gorgeous machine I look forward to all the updates. Subscribed!!!
Thank you, Matthew!
I'd bet the previous owner planned to resurrect the car, too, but was overtaken by life as his focus and resources shifted from a fancy car to his resposibilities at work and his growing family. Great job bringing this car back to life.
@@M539Restorations Where do you sell your restored cars?
Wife,Family,Kids,Animals,Work. And there is no more time for such a Car.
Man, i just love watching people enjoying my city. And what a gem of channel i discovered!
You made me miss my old E39 525i tho... xD
Eskerrik asko Sreten!
Greetings from the UK. Always loved these cars, great video, looking forward to more content. Best of luck with the restoration. Beast of a motor. Subscribed.
I was in Castro Urdiales a few months before your video walking the Camino, didn't think I'd find a car restoration video looking at the same sights I did shortly after! Fair play fantastic video
Very good, another E31 850i will be saved! Spain looks nice.
This would have to be my favourite video so far. Greetings from Australia.
I loved thd music for the montage of Bilbao. And loving the restorations!
Man i just found ur Channel and its AWESOME! Keep up the good work and videos pls!
Wow, you certainly have balls lol, it's going to be quite an undertaking, nothing you can't handle I am sure, I can't wait to see the next one.
Great video! you do a nice job documenting these builds but this one with the road trip is extra special, it has the ingredients of the American Roadkill show but with a touch of European charm!
I subscribed - definitely looking forward to seeing this car cleaned up!
Nothing like a "cerveza y unas tapas" before dealing with the problems...
this channel is soooo good! glad I found it, it should have at least 500k subs. Great great content!
👍 I don’t know why I keep watching this but can’t wait the next episode. You said you don’t have much experiences on the cars but you are very skilled.
Great channel! I agree fully about these horrific 'upgrades' ...can't imagine the owner paid money to make the 850i look worse. Good luck!
That car is in no way, in perfect condition.
But man do I love E31s
15:06 - Maserati casually sitting there
And now you have your own, cool
It is interesting to watch your rehabilitation of the SOHC V12. In the USA these are known as fragile and costing more than they are worth to rehabilitate. Your efforts have indeed revealed it to be a most robust engine and lightly stressed.
Man, you just made it out before COVID-19 hit them hard.
Svaka cast za ove E 31 sto popravljas. Obozavam ove modele, jedan od najdrazih BMW modela. Pozdrav
I found your channel fairly recently, but I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work :)
Excellently made video!
Looking forward to seeing more on this channel!
Viele Grüße aus Hamburg.
Loved this. 850i's are a personal favourite. Subbed
spain is beautiful...never been but on the "to visit" list

Finde dein Kanal einfach mega! Mir macht wirklich Spaß deine Videos zu sehen , besonders dieses Video weil ich zufälligerweise aus Bilbao komme.
Weiter so!!! 💪😜
I reckon it's the best YT channel. Sreten is so great. Хеј Словени!
What a lovely place. Good luck with the car!
Dream machine. Well done.
Love to see how do you restore this beautiful car /cheers from Spain
Oh man, i loved the video and this BWM... , very good documented. The predispotition for the Spanish was good too. I can´t understand how they couldn´t understand a little bit of english. I´m from Argentina, and i understood you everything!
TIENITELA MOLTO FORTE ,DI QUESTE NON SE NE TROVANO PIÙ!!!
0:13 I see you boys are wearing your trusty car-pushing footwear! Good job, lads! :-)
Google translator?
That Benz is a beaut! My dream car...
Good luck my friend. It's gonna be an interesting challenge for you)
Got yourself a new subscriber! Go post this video in the E31 facebook group!
Thank you! I already did, but feel free to share and post as well. :)
So fun see this video from Spain... near where you bought the car... You have a new follower... :)
Really well put together video. Nice work. Look forward to seeing more!
Thanks, Tom!
Awesome video mate! I found very funny the communication problems with the family hahaha
I actually went to Bilbao two month ago to buy an E46 330Ci, in my case it was a 700km roadtrip from east spain to north spain. Suscribed!
Thank you! Those are always fun. :)
Sounds like a great trip! Spain is beautiful for vacation, driving, food, people... you name it.
Brave guy 👍 The steering wheel and these fake instruments ! Unbelievable. Just looking at this stuff already hurts.
I love your videos and I’m in awe of you mechanical skills. I have been driving BMW for the last 16 years starting with a 540. I live down in the Murcia region of Spain (east coast) and if you are ever car hunting in this area let me know, I will gladly help you in any way I can 🙏🏻
Amazingly surprising!!!!!!!
I am a citizen of Bilbao
I am a BMW fan
And I spent so much part of my life in Castro Urdiales.😯🤦♂️
And of course, really good job, I already saw the whole project.
Congratualtions my friend, don't stop doing those kind of things!👍
Gracias! You live in a beautiful city!
+1 from another citizen of Bilbao! 👌👏
The part where you change that disgusting steering wheel for the original one is one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen in my life.
"mold" = "mierda" in spanish. I just discovered your channel and it's better than netflix!! Thank you for your effort!
no, mold es moho, no mierda. Pero también significa "molde" por eso se confunde al traducirlo en google y dice "molde".
12:55 we have one of those spider sculptures in Tokyo - apparently there are 6 around the world ! Love your content btw, been going through all the videos :)
OMG I want this very car, the color is beautiful!
I love how in all of these videos, you're unsure about buying the car, then you go and have a beer then, after having had a beer, decide to buy it 😁
You are going to be known as Mr. 8 Series of you keep this up.
IS THAT LEVAN POLKKA? Did not expect to hear that haha.
Really want a laguna green e39 touring! Love that color
The stearing wheel... the gauges... wtf!! hahaha! Anyway : Very nice videos, so cool to watch your awesome work. Good luck for the next :)
Excellent video! Excellent car! Excellent explanation! Love It! Thank you
Subscriber from Scotland 🏴👍🏻
I’m just found this channel and this is the second video that i’m watching and now you got a new subscriber ✌️✌️ 🇪🇸🇪🇸 viva España
Gracias! Viva España!
Me too! Great isn’t it?!
Bilbao is not spain
Tony Tunnycliffe are you in drugs?
I have seen this kind of language struggles quite a bit in my time but at first I thought you spoke spanish as the "Bienvenido en español" line was pretty damn good, specially for someone who is not fluent at it. That being said, the different accents in Spain are a wild ride even for native spanish speaking persons from other places like say, Latin America.
I'm from that city, you got a new suscriber, cool video
Bonjour
Hope you are doing well and having a great time in the new ALPINA.
Hey, your Spanish isn’t too bad at all! I’m sure this car will look great. Kind regards from Uruguay
Well done again - Thumbs up
Just found the channel and is really looking forward to updates on your project cars!
Thank you!
You’re a brave guy! Hope it works out well.
It did, hopefully 2nd part is out next week the latest.
WOW! Great Spanish Comprade 👏
Best looking BMW ewer.
Watching you and other people safely walk the streets of Bilbao made me regret that we can't do that here in the U. S.
This is a very interesting and well done video.
This is one of the best RUclips channels I have discovered yet! Superb!
Love these videos
My cityyyyyyy, amazing Video
Great content!
Good and interesting video! Sweden also have Carfax btw....
Man, the guy at some point said "moho" in Spanish which is the proper translation to "mould" the way you meant it, but then you used Google Translator and said "molde" which is also a translation but in a completely different meaning (like mould for biscuits). It's amazing the amount of Spanish cars that end up back in Germany, people in Spain don't really know what they're selling.
Hello from Spain👋
That kind of Cumbia style music does not match with Spain and even less with Bilbao.🤣
But I enjoyed this video a lot
