'if you know gibson basses youll instantly know what this is' i dont know gibson basses very well but the 'grabber' on the headstock kinda gave it away
I had one of these until recently, specifically no. 76. I wanted to love it, I really did, but I'm a small guy and the Grabber II is massive and I always wanted more treble than the bass could give.
I love the look of the grabber but when I tried the reissue years ago at a local music store I did not like the darkness of the pickup and i think the neck had a gross plasticy finish on it (like it was gritty too???) but it looks great and you're playing is awesome
Regarding the packaging. I had a bass shipped to me last year, it was brand new from a local supplier, still in its original factory box, which wasnt a very thicj cardboard, and they wrapped it with 1 layer of bubble wrap... So when it finally got delivered it looked like the box was literally jumped on and the bass was flopping around loose inside the box, I could hear a broken string hanging loose as well. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do, but I never opened it and returned it just like that, never even saw the bass :( People really need to learn how to properly pack and ship instruments... But at least I ended up getting something better in the end \m/
Sweet bass! To fix that you can take it off and glue in a dowel, then do a small pilot hole and re attach it. Sell basses? Sacrilegious! Please send them to Boomer Bass Memes Home for Wayward Basses LOLOLOLOLOL
Second this. Most likely got dropped straight down and the strap button pushed into the body. Remove the old screw and button, and drill a new hole. I would suggest at least a 1/2” diameter dowel about an 1” to an 1 1/2” long. Use a new 1/2” drill bit, preferably a brad point or forstner bit to get clean sides and a flat bottom to the hole. Use some high quality wood glue, Titebond is my preference, and fit the dowel into the hole as deep as it can go. LEAVE IT BE FOR 24 HOURS. If there is extra dowel outside of the body, you can trim/sand it down after the glue dries. You can attempt to match the finish to cover the repair but it will be hidden behind a strap most of the time. Drill a new pilot hole for the new strap button screw and you’re set.
Seems amazing, not my kinda thing but idk if anyone else heard it but there's some very obvious clipping even through RUclips's compression so maybe you might have to lower the pickups or raise the action
Did you have a compressor going on the sound? As for the bass itself, one thing I didn't like about those reissue Grabbers is that they fitted those HUGE tuners, the old ones had smaller ones which look much better.
Bro you could just leave it and put a second strap button a few inches further up the bass? should angle everything up a little/help with neck dive. also if you sell a dingwall, you're dead to me
Can you explain to me, what is so terrible with that three point bridge? I own Epiphone EB-3 and I'm quite happy with that bridge. And on that bass only real shitty thing is terrible neck dive.
Wish you’d make a vid on the three point bridge and why you hate it so much. I have a couple of SG basses and haven’t really begun hating the bridges yet, so would need you advice in order to despise them correctly... :)
Beautiful bass! This might be a dumb question but what are the differences between the Grabber I, Grabber II and Ripper basses (besides the movable PU)?
Not sure if you ever found the answer to this, but the Ripper had 2 humbuckers with 4 different P/U selections (series, bridge, parallel in phase and parallel out of phase), it had volume and tone controls as well as a separate mid control and the headstock was a Les Paul shape. The G3 had 3 single coil pickups, and a 3 way selector switch which gave you the options of bridge and middle, all 3 pickups at once or middle and neck, so you always have a humbucking configuration. And the G3, like the Grabber, had a master volume and tone and a flying V headstock.
FIXING THE STRAP BUTTON: Old luthier's trick: take out the screw. Get some toothpicks and some wood glue. Slather the toothpicks in wood glue and cram as many into the hole as you can. Carefully cut or saw off the excess toothpick that sticks out. Wipe away excess wood glue. make sure the toothpicks are flush with the surface. Now, screw the strap button back in, or wait for the toothpicks to dry, and drill a new pilot hole. This method also works well for neck screw holes.
I wanna get a grabber, tune to C standard, plug into my fuzz, and just doom out
That sounds like a plan
You don't "get" a grabber, you grab one.
Vlad V Comedy
As the dark lord intended.
@@Zane_Doe I now own a t-40 so I can doom super hard now lmao
Now you gotta do a comparison between this, the ripper and your rd
Glad you finally got your hands on one man!
'if you know gibson basses youll instantly know what this is' i dont know gibson basses very well but the 'grabber' on the headstock kinda gave it away
Beautiful bass, congratulations. Usually I don’t care for Gibsons, but that ones special.
LOL! "It has this, so kill me". I echo your feelings of the atrocious 3-pointer. You gonna go Babicz or Hipshot?
Yeah those three point bridges SUCK lmao
Those bridges aren't nearly as bad as the rep they are given.
Nothing wrong with those 3 point bridges, just different!
How many bass do you like?
Patrick: YES.
Awesome playing. Definitely looking forward to more of this bass. Keep it up!
thats a really slick looking grabber
I've never played a Gibson ,never really cared to till I heard this,I want one now. This would be my main bass
I had one of these until recently, specifically no. 76. I wanted to love it, I really did, but I'm a small guy and the Grabber II is massive and I always wanted more treble than the bass could give.
3:20 is this a riff in reallife or your own? Amazing bro
I've never played one of these, but that neck profile looks like it would suit my huge palms. Good find!
I was genuinely surprised at how beasty that thing sounded. Wow!
Easy fix for that strap button. Take it to a tech & they can drill/plug/refinish that back part and make it good as new for like $60.
The prodigal bass! Happy for you you, dude!
The black on black is sleek!🤯
Best lookin' Grabber I've ever seen. Congrats on the purchase!
Boi! Yes!! Those Grabber 2s are SWEET! I need to get one to go with my 70s Tribute.
Great news @ Patrick 👍 Shame about the strap button but it adds character
I knew just from the outline that it was gonna be either a grabber or G3 bass lol. Love the videos!
Congrats!!
Ah man! Chuffed for you getting one at last! Im still searching for a late 90s epiphone ripper
One HAS to be out there sonewhere!
I love the look of the grabber but when I tried the reissue years ago at a local music store I did not like the darkness of the pickup and i think the neck had a gross plasticy finish on it (like it was gritty too???) but it looks great and you're playing is awesome
DUUUUUDE!!! Love this bass!!
Sweet score I love the Grabber Basses
That bass tone T H I C C
I really enjoy watch you play bro
One of the coolest looking basses ever! Would've loved to have one of those...
BASS player here, saw a DanElectro guitar with case/amp in Japan MINT for 2000 USD.
Dude that sounds incredible!
Dont do it!! Theres is never too much bass. Cheers from Argentina
Oooooph!! That’s a TASTY Bass!!
That is a damn beautiful beast. Definitely a good purchase Patrick!
Congrats Patrick.

Sounds dope! love the color aswell, congrats! =)
Nice bass! Go Hipshot on the replacement bridge.
One of my dream basses. 😍
I knew it by the time you said "i just bought it on a whim on reverb"
Fitting that you actually bought it from Japan since Yudai Kato (bassist of Survive Said The Prophet) is a Grabber user.
Gibson bass are highly underrated
Going to have to grind down that screw flat drill another hole next to it
Isn't the sound of it dark and dull? Or am I mixing it up with Ripper?
Sounds like a Precision Bass with balls.
Funny, I told the wife that I thought it just sounded like a p bass with the tone rolled off.
I like the older maple color ones, but this seems cool.
I owned a G3 back in the 80s
If they would have made it with 3 on and off switches like a Brian may guitar it would have been awesone
Pat, could you do a vid of differences between sub, sterling and US stingrays?
Not a Gibson fan at all but that looks and sounds great man
Push that bad boy through some Darkglass, pronto!
Looks like something Chronos from Venom would play.
I'd be interested in the cheap Rickenbacker copy if you decide to part ways, good sir.
Looks amazing!
Damn, this bass sounds so... So tasty
Way to go. I real like your Ripper. Wish I could take that one off your hands. But alas...anyway...cheers on this one. Thank you for sharing.
I was like "Aria?"
"No?"
"Damn"
Lol me too! I thought maybe he scored a Cliff Burton sig or something.
What is your Reverb name? Love to consider what you may be selling?
Would be cool if you could compare this to your other Gibson bass.
Dream bass
I had the Grabber II sold it last year or so, amazing Bass albeit a little dark for my taste.
Did you have a compressor going on the sound?
As for the bass itself, one thing I didn't like about those reissue Grabbers is that they fitted those HUGE tuners, the old ones had smaller ones which look much better.
Stealth that Grabber!
Sweet!
Awesome!
Cool.. I like how that straplock looks like lmao
Oooo this bass is very n(thr)ice!
People are either absolutely obsessed with the Grabber, or they honestly just don't care at all.
I am not obsessed.
Love it but the Ripper head > Grabber head
Sent you pics of my '78 Grabber for showmewhatyoubass, would probably have sold it to you for a few hundred more :), with the original hardshell case.
Bro you could just leave it and put a second strap button a few inches further up the bass? should angle everything up a little/help with neck dive.
also if you sell a dingwall, you're dead to me
looks cool but sounds like it´s gonna bet buried in a mix
Get it out and install dunlop flush mount straplocks...
Gibson ruined the grabber with the grabber 2
If you don't want that ripper I'll take it 👀
you will have to dig that out and fill that hole
Can you explain to me, what is so terrible with that three point bridge? I own Epiphone EB-3 and I'm quite happy with that bridge. And on that bass only real shitty thing is terrible neck dive.
noice tone
That three-point bridge, tho 😬
Gonna replace that?
That three-point bridge, tho 😬
What're you planning on replacing that with?
Hipshot hipshot hipshot. hmmm
🤔 babicz 🤔
Omg, im in love with it
Wish you’d make a vid on the three point bridge and why you hate it so much. I have a couple of SG basses and haven’t really begun hating the bridges yet, so would need you advice in order to despise them correctly... :)

A lot of clipping in the recording, I believe.
Sweet!!
nice
are you looking to sell the ripper?
You should’ve played a kiss song!
Three point bridges why ? I had a EBO same thing
Don't sell anything. Just leave it there among the others and you'll see how it just fits.
Your gonna sell some basses? How much for the ripper? 👀
the riffs you play on demos are improvised at the moment or they are lines you've written before?
They are they sames riffs since the begining of channel

That is a horrible solution. Wood dovels are the right way to fix things like that
That's not a scorpion.
That bass is sexy enough for manga porn
Coll bass myguy
Dude if your selling that blue fender please let me know haha
Getting some early Gene Simmons vibes from that axe.
I like the sliding pickup, that's a great idea, but the body and headstock can go on the ugly bass list.
