I really like the new pick guard, since I really like the vintage tortoise shell look. I'm surprised you didn't clean up the original, but this decision still was a good one on your end. The end result looked beautiful as always, of course.
Greetings from Arizona USA! I enjoy watching you clean up these off brand Japanese guitars, you inspired me to start my own channel kind of like yours.
Great job on this. Under all that "muck" this is a fine looking bass. They nailed the "Fender-burst" finish. Although these were lower end instruments, you've showed what this Fresher brand bass could do.
great job, you saved another one, wher do you find these hidden gems? but why go through all this effort and not level and crown the frets before just polishing them? now all the dents are still there.just more shiny? but again : awesome job.
Distilled White Vinegar will help clean those metal parts. Just soak them for about an hour, then spray a bit of WD-40 on them and give them a good scrub. It will help out alot.
For some of your videos I have questions on products. What do you use to remove stickers and all that? Also, what do you use to remove the paint? Is it just paint stripper?
Stickers are commercially available label removers. The ingredients seem to be xylene and ethylbenzene. Paint thinner is often used to remove paint, but if it is difficult to remove, a commercial paint remover is used. This is a surfactant, according to the ingredients list.
You've already been admonished about WD-40 in electronics. Now, I'd like to type at you about your soldering technique. When solder cools and solidifies it should have a smooth silver like appearance. I saw at least two that were grey and grainy. This is what is known as a cold joint. They will, at some unknowable time in the future, fail. While you are cleaning those pots, use a little IPA and a brush to get all of that old flux off. Use solder braid to get as much of the old solder off as well. As to the rest of the restoration, I have no comment. You are light years ahead of anything I could do.
Great job. It looks new. What I don't understand is why you changed the lid of the electronics. The new one fits the bass better. But the other, knowing your abilities, you could have restored as well. I also don't understand why you didn't plug the holes that are left on the sides of the bridge. You would have covered them with chopsticks and disguised them with paint and polish... Don't you think ?
@@denislechretien Well, I think his work is very good. And the holes that did not cover only serve an aesthetic function. That's why I think it would have been better to cover them. He didn't correct the frets because he didn't need to. Possibly that's why he just polished them. As for the sound of the amplifier, I find it correct. The sound that reaches us on the computer through its video is very relative. To know how it would sound if we were there by his side, listening to him live...
I don't know what it is, but the sound of this bass is really unpleasant to me. Maybe you should try flat wound strings, they might make this instrument sound better.
Out of interest, what do you do with the guitars when you're done? I love people who take guitars that need some love, clean them up and send them back out into battle for the next budding musician to be inspired on.
GR8 GR8 VIDEO, NO DISRESPECT...BUT I DID NOT LIKE THE NEW PİCKGUARD & THE NEW KNOBS...THE ORIGINAL PICKGUARD ( OF COURSE CLEANED AND POLISHED ) AND THE ORIGINAL CONTROL KNOBS ( CLEANED AND SHINED ) WUD BE MUCH BETTER...IN THIS VIDEO, YOU MADE A VINTAGE BASS LOOK LIKE A BRAND NEW ONE; WHICH IS MAYBE A REVOLOUTINARY WAY OF THINKING, BUT ITS NOT FAIR I THINK...A VINTAGE BASS " MUST " LOOK OLD, JUST AS IT IS SHOULD BE....
@@denislechretien OHHH, REALLY ? I THINK YOU REALLY SHOULD MAKE SOME COOL VIDEOS ABOUT THE CHAT WRITING DISCIPLINE AND THE ENGLISH GRAMMAR INSTEAD OF THIS KIND OF BASS FIXING VIDEOS...I WUD PAY YOU NOTHING IF I WAS THE OWNER OF THAT BASS GUITAR...
Sheesh, you'd give a way better impression if you spelled the name of your instrument 'bass'. [Edit: Ok, I just noticed you're Japanese, so mis-translations are completely understandable.]
Really a beautiful bass!!! Made in Japan , worth $900

I like that the model of this bass is called the “Personal Bass” as opposed to a work bass.
in Precision Bass Style
Fresher Personal Bass looks amazing.
Great job on this. Under all that "muck" this is a fine looking bass. They nailed the "Fender-burst" finish. Although these were lower end instruments, you've showed what this Fresher brand bass could do.
Another Great Video!
Great job, new pickguard is cool too. Lovely looking bass..
Great work👌🏻
Good idea chucking the Antigua pickguard for a dark tortoise.
With that beautiful wood grain, this bass would look killer in natural with a black pickguard.
Re doing my ole P-base, gotta do a refret. Taking my time love you work.
Personal Bass!! I have the same one with the rosewood fingerboard and I love it. Oh fantastic job, by the way, as usual!
Nice job! This one wasn’t in as bad a condition as some of the others you have worked on.
the baaa aounds amazing
i love your videos
Nice work!😊
ah, i liked the old faded looking pickguard better. regardless, still another fantastic job. you really made it a Fresher bass (pun intended).
Man that looks almost brand you. Great choice on the pickguard
Beautiful 👍

That's an Antigua scratch plate. Got the Fender label on the back.
great job, you saved another one, wher do you find these hidden gems? but why go through all this effort and not level and crown the frets before just polishing them? now all the dents are still there.just more shiny? but again : awesome job.

Excelente bajo!
Great restoration man as always, but why you changed that pickguard? I really dig antigua finish.
Very relaxing! where do you find all these old/ b-qlty instruments?
Fresher

Hey! Is it brown or red tortoise pickguard?
At 03:15 It actually looked like a one piece body. Of course it wouldn't be, but impressive work from Fresher there.
Of course it's a genuine 78 fender antigua pickguard

I don't recommend WD-40 for the potentiometer. It dries and accumulate more dust and rust after. I suggest *DeoxIT D100*
wd40 also breaks down the carbon on the wiper. NEVER use wd40 on electronics.

Surely he has his own small shop. I would go there on occasion.
I wouldn’t use WD-40, use electronic contact cleaner

“Bass” not ‘base’. Admire your work, however.
Spelled Bass not Base!

typo in title!
*Seriously?* Anybody think that those look anything like actual scrtatches from playing?

ah, a p bass
