  • Are you planning a trip to Detroit Michigan and wondering if you should visit Belle Isle?
In today's video I show you a little bit around Detroit and how you can spend the day in this Michigan metro city.
Belle Isle Park, or better known as Belle Isle, is a 982-acre island park in Detroit, Michigan, developed in the late 19th century. The U.S. and Canada border the channel south of Belle Isle.
The park is open 5a-10p daily and public transport (12 contact bus line) will take you right to the aquarium. If you to take your own vehicle you will need a recreation passport ($13 for Michigander's annual pass) or a one time fee of $11 dollars for non residents, if you prefer to walk or bike across the bridge there is no fee!
Belle Isle has lots of things to do on the island. They have their very own aquarium, conservatory a little beach park to cool off in, in the summer and maybe my favorite part that I think is the show stopper is this beautiful fountain that unfortunately wasn't on when we were there, but I can tell it is very impressive!
We spent most of the day on Belle Isle, but we had to make a stop at the Spirit of Detroit and see the iconic symbol of the city, and just a short walk away was the tribute to Joe Lewis The Fist. It was attributed to him who was know for fighting Jim Crow Laws. He was also well known for the power of his punch both in and outside of the ring.
I hope enjoyed our short stay on Belle Isle and I encourage to make a stop. Its really amazing how such a little island on a river hold some much to see!

Hi! I'm Cheraya, a Minnesota girl, and I took a year off work brewing coffee to travel around the world. I love to explore and experience new to me destinations and places that are rich in culture and history. Even though my year of travel has ended I still want to see more of the world and explore things I have not seen before. To see what I get up to, (inbetween my not so 9-5 barista job) and maybe learn along with me, join me on this crazy, exciting adventure.
