My child isn't school age but really interesting to hear the process and making the right choice, great video as always. Also I don't get sweaty but for the last few years I get very very hot at night, like my skin feels cold but i feel burning hot no matter what weather all year round. I think being overactive thyroid can affect it so make sure you are checked for that as well.
It's totally different picking a primary school in Scotland because you are just given one by the council and it tends to just be the nearest one. And then everyone at your primary school goes to the nearest high school. I find it so strange that in England you pick and then have to apply to secondary schools too.
I know how you feel with the school admission worry! My son who’s now 12 and diagnosed with ADHD & ODD we had the hard decision on secondary schools not long ago. We went for a smaller school but slightly further away as he gets overwhelmed with too many people and we have found it was a really good choice for him! Go for what you think is best for your son and if it’s not right don’t be afraid to change, kids with SEN are surprisingly resilient x
I'm a sweaty betty too! So embarrassing and really impacts on what clothes I wear. Thanks for sharing what you've been trying :) Glad you're getting to take care of yourself now you've got some childcare. You're glowing ❤ x
Love your videos. I have brought your budget excel and love it thanks. Also about your sweating, my partner also had this problem and found out he should not be using any aerosols like body spray or deodorant and he changed to roll on and no sprays and after a few days it went and he would never look back. I know not everyone is the same but worth a go x
So true what you say about health issues! I have just been this week to get something checked out ASAP (I had a change somewhere which could potentionally have been really bad and I was absolutely terrified). Luckily got the all clear yesterday! ❤ Never postpone health issues!
My son started school this September and he went to a smaller school (1 class per year) and he has 5 TAs in his reception class 3 are always in the class along with his class teacher so it might not always be the case of a big school more teachers, if that helps your decision at all it’s worth checking with the school 😊 x
For schools also think about things like will you be living near their friends and also maybe take him on some visits and see how he reacts and what he thinks ❤
I’ve been suffering with excessive sweating since my second baby (now 20 months!) I was put on a low dose of oxybutynin 2.5mg one tablet twice a day and it works!!! if your bloods are clear I’d definitely recommend mentioning this medication to the doctors!
So worrying isnt it sending your babies into the big wide world... especially if they have extra needs. My daughter started reception last September and it was a school we hadnt even looked at as i was not aware of "catchment area", also she is on the neurodivergant waiting list (autism or adhd or something else we have no idea)... she was doing so well up until the last school break.now she sticking her heel in, so upset every morning, panic attacks when i get her uniform out - its killing me every morning 😢. Her teachers arent helping and her senco isnt interested as she hasnt been diagnosed yet. You go with your gut instincts, your doing all the right things shan ❤
I am in the exact same boat as you! I am looking at schools at the moment for my child to start in September 2025. It is all consuming, it's all i think about and I am overwhelmed with it all. My husband and I have seen about 10 schools. I think we're going to go for a smaller school with smaller classes because I feel like my daughter would get lost in the system. But who knows I'm constantly going back and forth between the four options we need to pick 🤯🤯
@anne_tlc I understand that, just sucks when a large portion of their videos is advertising something because it's something I skip. My RUclips premium already gives them enough money. Sad to see creators get greedy
Hey :) I have developed hyperthyroidism after my second baby, figured it out after excessive googling and asking for a blood test. Just felt crappy/ couldn't sleep, heart rate all over! Not sure where his video is in terms of real life but happy to chat if you wanted to compare :-) love your videos as always x
We are also doing the school tours , it is a complete minefield ! How did our Covid baby’s grow up so quickly ?? It’s senco versus location for the moment as our daughter will be attending 2027 after DS starts in September 25! So many thoughts feelings 😢
I have never heard of having 2 PAs in a class and my daughter goes private. A village school is better in my opinion as the classs are smaller. My daughter has 15 in her class and wow it makes such a difference
If you think he has adhd I would self refer and get diagnosis!smaller setting is better!he will only get ta if he has health educational plan!your health visitor would advise you x
Wow Shan I’m in the EXACT same boat. My daughter is starting school sept 2025 and a 2 year old at nursery. So so difficult to choose a school, with a reasonable distance, good teachers, allow for nursery pick up for my son and running around all over the city during school rush hours! Total disaster and super confused
Same here too. Do I pick the school nearer to nursery to make drop off and pick up easier but then once the time the baby is at school we'll be having to travel further or do we pick the school nearer home where I might have to run between pick ups but once they're both there it's closer to home and things will be easier 🤯
@ exactly it’s just so so hard! I’m also super confused because I’d love a school that’s walking distance. But all the schools in catchment are a drive away. Which is sooo irritating as parking and rush hour will make a 7/8 min drive into 15/20 mins
@@aali9778 yeah we're lucky we have a few which are easily walking distance but I think our decision is going to come down to logistics rather than anything else. One of the schools doesn't open early enough (even with breakfast club) for me to get to work after 😔
I have hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating). As a teenager, my hands would literally drip at times which was obviously very embarrassing. I had to go for a horrible treatment which would dehydrate me so much I couldn't swallow food for hours afterwards and even water tasted horrible. In the end I had an operation where they cut a nerve via my armpit. This worked really well, although it did make me slightly sweatier in other areas than i had previously been. This was all back in the '90's and I don't think they even offer that op anymore but I'm pretty normal now. What really helped me feel better was the advent of social media and realising that I'm not the only one so I commend you for talking about it 😀
Shan, i am the same as you! The logistics of two kids in different locations is mind blowing! It triggers my anxiety thinking about it

I have an (eating) apple tree in my garden and make apple crumbles with them, the only sugar I use is in the crumble mixture it's self.

Definitely do a big school small schools hardly have any provision for SEN children

The school situation is scary, so scary and overwhelming🤦🏻♀️

Please can you share slow cooker curry recipe
How was the curry? Would you recommend it? X
