I’ve watched all your Kia videos and have enjoyed them but what I want to know is how do you feel about the long term usage with Kia‘s and what would you say about people who have had bad experiences
Hi Jesse. Great questions and I really appreciate you watching. As far as long term I really don’t know. Although I buy a lot of cars this is my 1st Kia. I’m racking up the miles so I’m getting closer to that answer. In the 7 months I have had it I’ve run over 14k miles. I have had hundreds of comments on the videos in which I read and reply to every one. I have one had one negative all the others have been overwhelmingly positive. When I watch other videos I haven’t seen much in the way of negative either. The only things I have seen is when people over modify them and then suffer a catastrophic failure. I can’t blame that on Kia quality. Just like the Scat Packs I used to have. Absolutely bulletproof 392 engines. But, you go through boost at it like you would a Coyote and your going to blow it up. I wouldn’t then call the 392 junk. I call that a moron doing the mod. Anyway, time will tell. I will report any significant issues to you all. Thanks Jesse. Keep the great questions coming!
I have enjoyed it too. I am liking it better every day. It really drives great, is comfortable and is not great but pretty good at everything. For the money it is spot on.

Hey Chad. Is that 30.1 what the computer is calculating or you calculating it? Mine is averaging just under 28. But the computer is calculating it as over 30. The computer is so inaccurate in this car. With the auto I am turning about 3100 rpm at 80. It does seem high to me too.
Im currently in the market for a Forte GT or GT line (depends if i can even get one) but my concern is I heard the 1.6 L Turbo lasts about 250,000km before dying. (Sorry I'm from Canada)
Yeah, I have heard a lot of people say these are good for about 100k miles. I already traded it. I was having some issues already. Some of which Kia has no fixes for. My wife said time to dump it. I don't need any excuse to buy a new car. So, it was gone within days of her saying that.
@@DadsGarageDIY Oh no!!! I hope you got a better car. Now you're making me reconsider my decision. May I ask what we're some of the problems/issues you were dealing with? This will be a deal breaker for me as all I heard was good things but in truth, I would like yo hear reality things. Thanks in advance
@@lastoneleft5945 I had heard all good going in too. And for most of my ownership I heard positive. But, as time went along I was hearing and reading very mixed reviews. The car is so much fun. I really loved it other than 1 thing that was a deal breaker for me. About 2 months in I started having issues with the Apple CarPlay. It would just randomly disconnect while on phone calls. It would never happen while on music or maps only phone calls. During a call it would move back and forth from my phone to the stereo system. Kia released an update that I installed and it fixed the problem. Only to come back again 2 months later. I called Kia and they said they had no information on it so I started doing research. I found a lot of forums with this complaint. All of them saying they took it to Kia and they couldn't fix it. So, I started just using Bluetooth. About a month after I did that it would just start disconnecting my phone calls. I drive a lot for work and this is the deal breaker for me. So, then I started feeling the AC not working right. So, I took it to Kia with both the problems. The AC compressor was going out. So, they had to order the compressor. They confirmed the Apple CarPlay issues and that Kia had no resolution for it. This is when we decided it was time to move on. At 21k miles and 11 months of ownership to have the one issue that couldn't be fixed and was desperately needed for me was just something I just couldn't live with. I loved the car. If it weren't for the CarPlay and the bluetooth both being broken and not having a fix I would have still been in that car. But, this just wasn't something I could live with. I actually thought about getting another one but at the end of the day I was concerned I would just have the same issues again.
Thank you for video but i have a question. What's the different Forte GT line 2022 between 2023 ? everything seems the same. Could you give me information please ?
Very good question. I really don't have a comparison of the 2. I keep seeing, hearing and the dealer told me minor refresh. But, I can't find anything different. I have looked for things like floor mats and they show availability for the 2022 but not for the 2023. I really don't know. But, I had the same questions.
@Ed Findlay Interesting. I couldn’t find any differences yet. The dealer told me there was a minor refresh. But, no one has been able to tell me what was refreshed. When I look for parts/accessories I can find for the 2022 but the 2023 not finding much. I called the dealer for all season floor mats and they have no info for the 2023. It’s weird.
I have a question, It might be kinda silly but I just got a 2023 Forte GT as my first car. Am I supposed to only fill it with Premium gas or can I fill it with any kind of gas like mid grade????
Great question! One of the beauties of this car is it only requires 87. Most of the turbo cars require premium but not this one. Honestly, I wouldn’t have bought it had it required premium. For me that would have defeated the purpose of the decent gas mileage it gets. Great question. Keep them coming and enjoy that car. It’s a lot of fun. Hope you will subscribe. I have more content here on this car and hopefully more useful info around the house.
Hey David. It is Snow White Pearl. You have no idea in person how nice it looks. In the sun the mica just glimmers. Both of the dealers I was working with told me it is by far the #1 color for this car.
@@DadsGarageDIY I just ordered one a couple weeks ago that’s Snow White pearl but they didn’t have one to show me at the dealership. It gets delivered this week and I’m so excited, the color looks amazing! Thank you!
@@David-zi7vl That is super exciting David. I had a deposit on one that was supposed to deliver on the 20th of September. I got a call 2 days after I put the deposit on it from a different dealer that had someone that ordered the one I bought and they bought another car while waiting for it so it became available. I jumped on it. I have to tell you, I am super impressed with this car. Super impressed! In my mind it is no question the big winner in the bang for the buck category. I have had this one for 2 1/2 weeks and already have 2400 miles on it. The only thing I am not real impressed with yet is the fuel economy. I am averaging 27 on my daily drives and we did take it on a trip. The trip was all highway, we keep it right on the speed limit and could only muster 32. Maybe it will get better after getting broken in.
Toyota Corolla is great for re-sale value. Eventually the Used car market will stabilize, and go back to how it was before COVID disrupted supply lines for key electronic components. But re-sale value means nothing if you're the sort to keep a car for many long years, while enjoying it. Regardless of Make and Model. In terms of performance, this car competes with the likes of the Hyundai N-Line, VW GTI, Honda Civic Si, Subaru WRX, and Mazda 3 Turbo. Granted, the KIA isn't going to be at the top of that list. But it does compete with those cars, and beats them on value. The Corolla is a good, very reliable, stable, No-Thrills ride. And, a lot of folks are very happy with that. But the KIA has the much better warranty.... Plus, you won't feel dead inside if you decide to stomp on the gas.
Fantastic input. I agree 100%. I have a lot of experience with the Corolla as well as I just drove my sons 2022 Corolla SE for the past 5 months while he was on military duty.
It will take a looong time for car prices and stock available to normalize even if chip manufacturing ramps up soon. As for the prices, nearly every manufacturer has raised MSRP's for the 2023 model year, some for '22, and I cant see those getting a whole lot better with the war in Ukraine still raging and politicians in the US/Europe (all western nations really) waging war on fossil fuels. That last part has an effect on far more than gas prices at the pump, as in quite literally everything that costs money.
Very good question. I now have 7,000 miles on it and not a single issue. No recalls yet either. I have the same curiosity as you about long term reliability. Time will tell but so far so good.
Hey gang, So, I've not driven a stick in a few. Rusty dusty, I am. I decided to buy the Forte Gt today and discovered just how rusty I am. I'm concerned over a couple things. I killed the engine a couple times..LOL It got worse. I'm having trouble finding 1st gear. I keep getting it in 3rd. There is the fear of jerking it into reverse, so maybe that is the reason. My driveway is on an incline. Have mercy. LOL. Finally, my biggest snafu was apparently not get into a gear fully and the stick violently vibrated. That really was very upsetting. So, in my learning slumber have I damaged anything?
I sure wouldn’t think so. I just bought another car with a stick too. 1st time I drove one in 18 years. It’s been fun rolling through the gears again. Hope to hear from you again. These cars are a lot of fun.
@@DadsGarageDIY I’m driving it now. I was fighting it too much. What I have learned is that I can’t accidentally slip into reverse. The button on the stick shift has to be pressed first. Then I learned I don’t need to search for the gears. They pretty much fall into place. One thing I can’t figure out, however, is the instrument panel is not giving me downshift indicators. Upshifting indicates when to shift. Odd.
I sold this after 11 months and 21,000 miles. Not issue with the transmission but other issues made me decide to trade it off. Problem #1 was not a deal breaker. But, the AC went out. They were going to fix it under warranty. But, what was the deal breaker is the audio system. It started with the CarPlay constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. But, only during phone calls. Worked fine for music, maps, all the rest. So, I started using bluetooth. I relay heavily on being able to be hands free. Well, a month later the when on phone calls it would randomly disconnect the calls. It was happening multiple times a day. So I took it to the dealer and they told e that there was nothing they could do to fix it. It was a know issues and Kia has no answers for it. I checked forums and I was seeing the same with many other owners. Problems, problems, problems (with CarPlay and bluetooth) and no answers. I loved the car otherwise. But, that was just intolerable for me.
@@mikespencer3824 I like it. Admittedly it is not as fun to drive as the Kia. The Kia feels much lighter (it is 400-500 pounds lighter), feels very nimble and sporty, The Kia seats I like a lot better. More bolstering. The Camry seats although sticked cool with the red are pretty typical sedan seats. The Camry though has 100 more horsepower and it's noticeable particularly on the highway. My gas mileage has been very interesting. My driving is 75% in town type driving. Not stop and go necessarily though. I keep all my mileage logs and I don't rely on the trip computer to calculate it. I will tell you the Kia's always registered about 4mpg better than it really was. The Camry is typically within 1mpg. The numbers I'm sharing are real calculated and not what the car lies to me with. In the Kia from day one till the day we sold it 28.2 mpg. The Camry from day one until today 25.6. I admittedly have a fairly heavy right foot. What is interesting is the best tank I ever got in the Kia was 33.2. That was on a 4.5 hour trip. On that trip I stayed within 5 mph of the speed limit just because I'm a numbers nerd and wanted to see what I could get out of it. Then the ironic part is I got the same exact mpg (33.2) on the same trip. And I was keeping it within 10 mph. Worst tank ever in the Kia 24.8. Worst ever in the Camry 21.8. No question in town the Kia will better the Camry. But, on the highway the Camry is as good despite the weight difference and that additional 100 horse power. With all this said if I could afford the additional $12,000 for the Camry TRD I would 100% go that route. Great questions Mike. Any other questions you have I will be glad to answer. I have another channel where I moved all my car content Dads Garage (car channel). I have more on the Camry over there. Not sure if I put any of the Kia stuff there or not. I did leave my good performing car videos here though.

@@joeymasterson4395 I understand what you are saying now. The majority of the cars in the past few years come with this feature. The idea is not to annoy or stalk people but for safety. It's intended to keep a minimal distance so you can safely stop (provided you're paying attention) or brake if the traffic suddenly stops. I think it's a tremendous safety feature. Hope that helps. If not, hit me back and we can continue the conversation.
Thanks for explaining that. It’s scary especially since road rage is up 400%. 👍🏼

I love this car. Such a great looking and driving car.
I have enjoyed it too. I am liking it better every day. It really drives great, is comfortable and is not great but pretty good at everything. For the money it is spot on.
@@DadsGarageDIY I really like this car and I would say that the white and red color are the best looking ones. They are trying to get me to pay 29 k for a red one in Texas.
@@ethanmelton2914 I really like the white. It looks really clean. I could have had a red one sooner. I am in the DFW area. I had to wait for a white one. I paid right at MSRP. @@DadsGarageDIY ok I will have to check that out out I live in Houston so they got me at $30,500 after tax title license window tint out the door. They said this is msrp after all the markups am I missing something.
@@ethanmelton2914 MSRP is $24,300. Destination is about $1,000. Tax in Texas is 6.25%. That’s $1,581 if you have no trade. So, now your still under $27k. Title and license is only a few hundred. So, unless they are charging you a LOT for tint there is something else there. Could it be a GT2? That adds $1900. A manual transmission adds $700. So, if you have all that you are getting pretty close.

I love my 22 Forte GT2 it’s amazing
I feel the same. Could not be more happy.
I bought a 23 GT in 6speed. So far averaging 30.1 mpg mixed. Not bad. I don’t like that on the Highway at 80mph it’s sitting at 3500RPM
Hey Chad. Is that 30.1 what the computer is calculating or you calculating it? Mine is averaging just under 28. But the computer is calculating it as over 30. The computer is so inaccurate in this car. With the auto I am turning about 3100 rpm at 80. It does seem high to me too.
@@DadsGarageDIY right now it’s what the computer is calculating. I’ll update you when I feel up Friday.
@@chadp3400 Cool Chad. Hope yours is more accurate than mine. 3 mpg doesn't necessarily sound like a lot but that's 10%.
It’s weird.
Mechanically the same, just cosmetic updates to go along with the new style Kia logo.

Great video! One question I have is what is the specific color of the car?

@@David-zi7vl You're welcome sir. I look forward to chatting more once you get yours.
@Ed Findlay Wow! That’s wild.
So far i like this better than civic si but how is reliability? Also, is there any recall?
Very good question. I now have 7,000 miles on it and not a single issue. No recalls yet either. I have the same curiosity as you about long term reliability. Time will tell but so far so good.

Hey gang,
So, I've not driven a stick in a few. Rusty dusty, I am. I decided to buy the Forte Gt today and discovered just how rusty I am. I'm concerned over a couple things. I killed the engine a couple times..LOL
It got worse.
@Dads Garage I'll admit, I'm paranoid about it. I must have OCD. My brain only sees the error, not the outcome. It's probably fine.
@@Biggerbyte I think so. I think everything will be fine.
Odd.
@@Biggerbyte That’s somewhat common. The upshift lights are trying to tell you when to shift for best fuel economy.
How reliable is the on the 7 speed duel clutch? Any problems anyone?
@@DadsGarageDIY ,
Thank you Sir! Bad deal for sure. What are you driving now?
@@mikespencer3824I traded it for a Camry TRD.
@@DadsGarageDIY ,
How do you like that one and what kind of gas mileage? Thank you!
