as a former TJMaxx employee, the snacks were either last minute desperation from the moms because they had shopped so long in the store they were beyond hangry by the time they hit the check out lane, or the hyper-focused beeline to clear out one specific kind of granola or deep river chip once a week, no exception. well, except the hail-mary of an employee buying something because we only had 20 minutes for lunch and the nearest Mcdonalds was 10 minutes away. I have definitely pounded half a bag of ~pink himalayan sea salt sweet potato and beet chips~ with the grim acceptance of their terrible yet necessary existence.
I think you should pack yourself a lunch, that sounds awful.🥪

Those ginger chews are super helpful with nausea. I bought some peppermint ginger chews when I was pregnant lol. It also helps when I’m car sick. It’s the definition of mom candy.
As someone who has worked at a Marshall’s, there are a few genuinely good finds-especially if you choose to avoid the “almond mom” bait. Pirolines, orchard valley trail mix, and the “All Dressed Up” Deep River chips (TJMaxx has a contract with Deep River so that flavor can ONLY be sold at tjs wtf) are pretty great.
Most of the best stuff only shows up on shelves twice a year so gl though lmao
I've noticed that its not just TJs, but places like Ross and JC pennys sell the most random "luxury snacks" in their massive spruced up cashier aisles

I worked at HomeGoods for a few summers and I remember this one woman who spent $1200 on snacks. And I was just in utter disbelief, like is this real life?
Lots of moms come in and do their "grocery" shopping at HomeGoods. Some of their snacks are good, but most of them aren't. The trick is to ask an older lady (not the workers) what they recommend... You know they've tried it all.

TJ Maxx, Marshall’s and Burlington Coat Factory all run with this same snack setup and have led me to someone the greatest and worst finds of my life.

I’m a vegan and celiac, so I’ve fallen for some tjmaxx mom bait (which is my new favorite way to describe dumb sh!t like this😂) And oh my god, those birthday cake bites are SO gross. I hated them. And it just hurt to remember I paid $7 on them. I’ve also had the coconut pineapple things cuz I was looking for piña colada and I was VERY disappointed to get pure coconut😕

I don’t support the way animals are treated on farms, so why would I buy the products? It’s fine with me whether other people do or don’t follow a vegan diet. But with myself, I’ve found that being a vegan lets me follow my morals.

Yes! Stevia gives me a horrible stomach ache. Erythritol and Xylitol taste like sucking on pennies.

as someone that used to work at a homesense, when we would run the sales report at the end of the night, food/snacks was usually one of the top sales categories. a lot of people bought the snacks, sometimes coming in specifically to find a specific snack that you can't buy elsewhere.

I had no idea those ginger candies came in different flavors! I've only ever had the straight ginger before. I love strong flavors like ginger, but I eat those to manage my nausea to avoid taking medicine all the time (happens a lot, idk why). It works! If you want to know what it tastes like, it's chewy spice not spicy

my partners mom will seriously buy this food for her and her husband. She will also use this food as a stocking stuffer. We once opened a stocking of soup mix, she realized she gave us the wrong one, snached it out of my partner's hand and got a different one out of the cabinet.

The target market for this is an aunt last minute shopping for a niece or nephew. They grabbed a few designer clothes 75% off and knew they had to throw something else to in the Christmas bag with the card. They also had to keep in mind the health concious mom of the kid.

the funny thing about that first chip brand is its not actually good for people with allergies because they dont list whats in their vegan cheese and sour cream.. im allergic to dairy but also cashews, and cashews are often in dairy free "dairy", so i dont wanna risk it. sad because i love sour cream and onion chips and theres surprisingly few dairy free alternatives

Popular brands are popular because they’re actually good. TJ Maxx sells the rejects and they will never be tasty. Every food purchase you make is a mistake.

Stores like TJMaxx, Homegoods, and etc, have some of the coolest obscure and cheaply priced snacks. Sure, you might find something that looks good but is crap, but once you find something you like you can just buy it in bulk and save money on your sugar addiction
idk, i feel like this food is mostly decorative, which is why it's in a home decor store. Other food you buy, you use, and you store, but everything, from the box of tea, the salt, the pickles, literally every food in a home goods is to be displayed for a real estate company.
