2021 GF was so much better live than it looks on replay, I was in the Demons cheer squad and there was such an empty feeling at the start of the second half until the bursts of goals, there was a lot of emotion in that run of goals
And who could forget the dropped mark by Jack Darling in the goal square in the closing stages in 18, I seriously think someone would have killed him if the Eagles had lost
I guess our 2017, 2019 flags mean nothing as well... 2020 was the hardest flag ever won in the covid hub all year, also we did it the hard way lost the qualifying final and came back and won. imo it was our best flag.
@@Aka_daka I’m not saying that at all. I agree Richmond and Geelong both making it to the finals itself let alone the GF was a great achievement considering both teams played about 4 games in Vic all year. I still count it as a grand final and it’s in history, however I think it is the worst grand final since 2000 because of the reasons I mentioned in my original comment.
Saints losing those 2 GF.......(not to mention 1 being a draw) That's gotta suck. My dad holds so much resentment for Saints though as a Dogs fan, our family was all gathered watching the 2010 GF (draw) and my cousin's then bf said to my dad "Dogs are crap, never making it to GF and having to watch us play, imagine losing so many PF in a row" In a rude tone. If my dad met him again now, he would be able to have the last laugh.
2019 certainly had less going for it than 2007, Richmond would not have won a flag if Collingwood beat GWS the week before and it just wasn't impressive football
I wouldn't say that Richmond would have lost, but Collingwood would have put up a much better fight and MAY have won. GWS were woeful. Same as 2022, Geelong probably still would have won, but Collingwood would have put up a better fight than Swans.
2005 was a terrible game and definitely worse than most of the ones in the bottom half of the list, skill level was deplorable, no one could score and if Leo Barry dropped the mark or spoiled it no one would have remembered it but Sydney fans, absolute shite
It had so much going for it, the ultimate underdog vs the best team all year. The dogs not winning a flag since 54, not appearing in a GF since 61, it was a great Grand Final as a whole. I'm a Pies supporter, but I have a big soft spot for Dogs as my family go for Dogs.

The Kangaloos (sic) have played in 4 preliminary finals since and including 2000. Sadly, lost all 4 by convincing margins. But better than Carlton. And certainly better than Gold Coast who haven’t even made a final. Since the early 2000s Essendon’s record has been pitiful.
Kiss were awesome. One of if not the best game pre entertainment performances for an AFL grand final. I didn't want a close game, because I'm a Pies fan haha, but we got a close game and it was fantastic. Right up there as one of the best GF I've seen. (unfortunately couldn't get a ticket though).
2010..that smother by Heath Shaw on Nick Riewoldt was simultaneously a "team booster" and a "team demoraliser".....and the rest of the game was obviously played "above the shoulders". Confidence and belief is 80% of the game.
As a Pies fan, it's hard for me to decide which is my favourite, I'd say it's one of either 05, 06, 10, 18 or 23. Those were all amazing Grand Finals. I was only able to rewatch 18 once afterwards, but since we won last year, I've been able to rewatch it again. It was so painful back then. Dom "Heartbreaker" Sheed just crushing our souls. haven't started yet, but guessing cats 2007 and 2022 rank low. 2007 in particular was just sensational for fans since '63!!!! 2022 was a little reminiscent for fans, just a 'never stop til the siren' ethos to make sure after so much hurt since '63... just saying, 'best' means different things to different people... 😁 edit: watched it now. strange you pick dog's win in '16 and swans over weagles in '05 over cats in '11 yet your rhetoric makes the case for the reverse of these...
I hate cats and seeing them win premierships is just boring for me, so I would rate them low too. 09 was the only good one, the rest were boring as hell. I do not rank that as a 'real' GF or Premiership. The entire season was ruined and that game was pathetic for the reasons you mention and many more.
