I'm changing oil every 12-14k km with lubricity additives. Hoping to go until around 320-350k km with original chain, at around 300k I will start checking on it more frequently (265k km currently and no chain related rattles/emissions/fuel consumption issues)
@@jamesmartindale89685k is excessive my n57 has had 10k mile oil changes its whole life and it’s at 175k miles now. But ultimately it’s entirely dependent on driving conditions. But without an oil analysis you’re just guessing and wasting money or damaging an engine. But generally an engine that sees regular long drives under average conditions could do 10k+ mi. Get an oil analysis every oil change and increase intervals 2k mi more every change if the test shows good results and life stop at 10k mi if it’s just a daily. But if it’s a work vehicle I’d go as high as 15k miles since a work car can reach that in 2 months. Seen work trucks do 15k miles intervals(with good analysis results) go 500k+ miles on untouched engine.

@@mcplutt Well if you use always 30k km oil changes and your car is with start n stop -system, then yes, the chain will loose or break before 400k km. Always code start n stop off and change oil and filter between 10-15k km.
Looks in perfect condition 👍👍
Yes, very tight, no problems
No problems... That means good oil and not long periods... Good job
Timing chain on my M54 engine has done 255,000 miles now never been changed and solid still no movement at all no rattles
The real question is why they put timing chain in a such unconvinient place for n57. m57 had timing chain in front which is much easier to work on
So repair cost more
For European crash test they say..
They thought it would last the lifetime of the car. They was very wrong. Mu mates 520d cut out today timing chain slipped of 🤣🤣

Oil changes should be at 10k kilometers at most. Using full synthetic LL01 or LL04 spec oils. Prolonged oil change intervals are not a good idea
Brand new chain and you know it
Don't forget crankshaft
Ce n'est pas le kit chaine d'origine ! Sortie d'usine les guides de chaîne sont noirs et non orange.
Wow. How often do you change oil?
To maximise timing chain life, oil should be changed every 3-5000 miles or once a year. Whichever comes first.

This is not a chain that's done 250k or had 30k services.
Almost like a new chain... it was the variable intervall ~30.000km
Wow, sounds very good. And what about the tensioner? Did you inspect it for chain stretching?
maybe minimal streched but not far away from the new one.. thats very interesting in view of that the n57 is famous for streched chain‘s

This is good or bad? What was the service interval for these 250 000 km?
300k
no intervall, they last the lifetime of the engine
@@KaufDirGeld 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@KaufDirGeld The lifetime is over when the chain breaks :-)

I have no clue what I was meant to get out of this video 🤣 good or bad chain
هي بالفعل جيدة، كأنها ليست مستعملة لمسافة 250 ألف كلم
Very good chain
Youre supposed to check when warm
Gut
They usaly have to be changed 300-350k . better on 300k becase you have no idea how previous owner has driven the car in cold
